Lewis Capaldi opening up about Tourette's therapy will help others seek help

Daily Record12 hours ago
Lewis Capaldi's decision to be open about using therapy to help him cope with anxiety and Tourette syndrome must be applauded.
His honesty is refreshing, having admitted that he initially lied to his therapist before finally revealing his true feelings. Only then could he begin the road to recovery.
His reluctance to fully commit to getting the help he needed is a lesson for us all and one which many of us can empathise with.
No doubt nervous at first, Lewis found out the hard way that it wasn't until he finally opened up and told his therapist the truth about his feelings that he was able to get a handle on his anxiety.
Now he is speaking out about his experience and, in doing so, he is setting an example that there is no longer, and nor should there be, a stigma around mental health issues or in finding tools to deal with them.
We should all feel comfortable asking for professional help and we should do our best to allow people to express that need should it arise. It could be a member of your own family, a close friend, a colleague or a neighbour.
For Lewis, therapy has meant that, two years after quitting the music business, he has made a successful return to the thing he loves best – singing and writing songs.
He's No1 in the charts but he doesn't pretend that therapy is a quick fix, or even a cure all. But, by revealing his true emotional state, Lewis may have helped others to seek the help they need.
Liquid gold for air travellers
Edinburgh Airport has become the first in Scotland to lift the 100ml liquid rule for hand luggage.
Travellers will now be able to take through containers of up to two litres and not have to put up with annoying wee plastic bags and bottles.
The rule has been in place since 2006 and has been a nuisance we've all put up with since.
The key to the old rules being ditched is the purchase of eight new scanners as part of a £24million security overhaul.
Edinburgh is the first but it is hoped the other main Scottish airports will follow suit.
Air travel safety cannot be compromised and is paramount. But, when they can, airports should strive to make the life easier for passengers.
The next thing bosses might want to look at is the rip-off fees people are charged just for dropping someone off at the airport.

Inside the idyllic coastal Scottish property that's on the market for offers over £2,200,000

As far as fantasy Scottish homes go, Drumbain has it all, with a cherry (and sparkler) on top. The South Ayrshire countryside property is located at Fisherton in Ayr, which is near Culzean Castle and just four and a half miles from Alloway - the birthplace of Robert Burns. The coastal house is sheltered by trees and set in 53 acres of its own grass-land, which is currently used for grazing. It also has a walled garden, mature woodland, various outbuildings and 400 yards of private shoreline, so nobody will disturb your stone-skimming practice or occasional skinny dip. There's even a 'party barn' included, should you want to invite a few pals over for a hoe-down. The main house includes the original farmhouse, but also modern additions to the structure, and there are six bedrooms - four of which are en-suite - as well as two further bathrooms, some with roll-top baths and others that offer double sinks or wet rooms. The property also boasts four reception rooms, including a living room and snug, as well as a huge open-plan glass-walled kitchen that offers uninterrupted views of the Firth of Clyde and opens out onto one of the two paved terraces. Those who want to avoid getting a roller in their hand, needn't worry. The current owner, Ethan Lyell - who is based in the US, and is the grandson of legendary country music singer and songwriter, the late Loretta Lynn - has decorated his pad in a luxurious and restful style to keep any buyer happy. To match the whitewashed exterior, the inside is almost all white, or decorated in other neutral shades, like buff, cream and silvery grey. There is not an avocado suite in sight. The price for this slice of paradise is pitched at offers over £2,200,000 and it's on the market with estate agents, Rettie. We asked Lyell to tell us a bit more about the house. Why are you moving on? We're selling as our work commitments and family obligations, because of ageing parents, are making it more difficult to visit as frequently as we originally planned. How long have you owned Drumbain and have you loved staying there? We purchased Drumbain back in March of 2024. We spent about six weeks there last year and most recently spent five months in 2025. Tell us about the history of the property - when does it date from, and what new additions have been added? We're told the original property dates back over 100 years, then the various buildings were combined to form the main home. The prior owners added the glass kitchen structure to the building around 2008 and then we refreshed the home after purchasing it. Where do you get your interior design inspiration? We worked with a local designer, Lori James of Lori James Interiors, who is a long-time resident of the area to bring a cosy, relaxed and coastal feeling to the home, and they also added touches of Scottish flair that would pay homage to its history and coastal location. Where did you find your paintings - is that a favourite artist's work on the walls? We added a few pieces from a local artist, Philip Raskin, as they bring a bit of the seascape to the room. There are some interesting architectural features, like the staircases and beams, do you think they add to the house's character? The staircase was a later addition to the home and the beams were present when we purchased the home but we painted them to soften and add a layer of texture to the overall rooms. What have been your happiest times in the house? We took our five dogs with us while staying at Drumbain over the last five months of 2025. We've had an amazing time taking them out to explore the coastline and trails on the property. The evenings here are simply amazing as the sun sets behind Arran. Each evening is like looking at a different watercolour painting. What are your favourite spaces in the property and on the surrounding land? It's hard to pick one. The property is filled with many experiences. The chaise longues by the spa are perfect to enjoy the sunsets over Arran with a glass of wine in hand. The dogs and I love walking in the walled garden in the mornings, while I have a cup of coffee and take time to meditate next to the stream. Also, the woodland trail is a beautiful and enchanting hike down to the coast. Along the way, you will likely manage to spot an owl, deer, and various beautiful songbirds before reaching the sea. Do you spot any other wildlife with the country location? Drumbain is full of wildlife. I love watching deer, hares, birds, owls, and hawk, not forgetting the local residents – all the sheep and cattle. What opportunities does the land offer to a buyer? The land offers opportunity for wildlife, nature and coastal hikes in addition to the sheep and cattle grazing it today. Have you enjoyed living in that area, and what are your favourite things to do? We love the location. It's extremely convenient to fly into Prestwick along with the dogs. We love exploring the history that being in Scotland offers, especially in the area with lots of day trips to historic sites, as well as hiking with the dogs. For more information on Drumbain, see

Wimbledon star Cameron Norrie's real nationality as girlfriend links to pop star emerge

Wimbledon star Cameron Norrie's real nationality as girlfriend links to pop star emerge Wimbledon star Cameron Norrie faces Spain's Carlos Alcaraz on Tuesday Cameron Norrie with girlfriend Louise Jacobi Cameron Norrie and Carlos Alcaraz lock horns in the quarter-finals at Wimbledon on Tuesday. Norrie saw off Nicolas Jarry in a four-hour epic on Sunday to book his place in the last eight, while second seed Alcaraz had to come from a set down to beat Andrey Rublev 6-7 (5-7) 6-3 6-4 6-4 under the lights on Centre Court. ‌ Both players will be feeling it from their last-16 encounters and the Spaniard says playing the British No3 is a "nightmare". ‌ 'Facing Cam is always really, really difficult,' said Alcaraz. 'We have really difficult battles already. 'For me facing him is almost a nightmare, to be honest. Really tough from the baseline. I'm not surprised he's in the quarter-final playing great tennis because I've seen him practising. 'When he lost at Queen's, he stayed for five days practicing morning, afternoon and night. Article continues below "I saw him. So I'm not surprised at all seeing his level. "So it's going to be really different. 'He's playing at home, as well, so he's going to use the crowd on his side. I have to be really strong mentally and focused to play good tennis if I want to beat him.' ‌ Norrie is the last British hope left in the tournament in the singles - let's get to know him a bit better away from the court. Upbringing and nationality It's fair to say Norrie had a colourful and varied upbringing. Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, to a Scottish father David and a Welsh mother, Helen, who hails from Cardiff, the family moved to New Zealand when he was just three years old in 1998 after their house was burgled. ‌ "I don't remember too much about it, but my mum told me it got a little bit too dangerous so we moved to New Zealand," he has said previously. Aged 16 he moved to London for three years before hopping across the Atlantic to Texas Christian University. In 2017 he left university to turn professional. He then based himself out of London, and now lives in Monaco. ‌ Having lived all over the world and with different influences on his lifestyle, Norrie has mixed accent, often described as Kiwi. "I'm pretty Scottish, I think," he told The Guardian in August 2017. "My dad was born in Glasgow, my mum in Cardiff. I've been to Scotland a few times but I don't like the weather." Net worth The 29-year-old is reported to have a net worth of around £4million. His career earnings are said to amount to around £9million over the course of his career, with brand deals also contributing to that; he has link-ups with Ralph Lauren, Uber and Lotus UK. ‌ If he were to beat his Spanish opponent today and book himself a spot in the semi-finals, he would bank £400,000. The winner of this year's tournament will see their bank balance swell by a cool £3million. Designer girlfriend Norrie is currently in a relationship with Louise Jacobi, an American fashion designer. ‌ The pair have been together since 2019, after being introduced by mutual friends in New York. A first date was quickly proposed, with Norrie asking her to watch him play in Vienna. "When he asked me, I thought, 'I guess this guy doesn't live a normal life, and it's not like I can meet (him) down the street and go to dinner together,'" she once admitted. "So I went on this trip and was only supposed to be in Vienna for five days, and things just went really well. "In some weird way, I was like, 'Thank God I got laid off when I did' because we were able to build the foundation of our relationship before Covid hit." ‌ Louise Jacobi, partner of Cameron Norrie of Great Britain (Image:) The couple now live in Monaco. Norrie once got an invitation from musician star Jon Bon Jovi, thanks to Louise's connections. 'He recently started loving tennis and Louise knows his family. So I was in Miami and he invited me to his place for lunch and to hit with him,' the former top-10 player told Tatler. ‌ Since then, Bon Jovi has turned up at some of the Brit's matches. Raducanu question Norrie was left stunned by a question in his Wimbledon press conference last week following his win over Mattia Bellucci 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, 6-3. He was blindsided by the line of questioning from a journalist who did not want to speak about Norrie's exploits on the court, instead blunting asking him if he was in a relationship with Emma Raducanu. ‌ The journalist said: "Congratulations again on your win. "Apart from everyone here loving tennis, some of the gossip has been about who Emma Raducanu is dating. Can I ask if you're dating her? Can we get to the bottom of this, please?" He replied: "Sorry?" Article continues below The reporter doubled down, saying: "We're trying to find out who is dating Emma Raducanu. It seems to be going round all the men's singles. I was just wondering if you are dating her, please?" Norrie replied: "I'm not, no. You can ask her, though. You can ask her. I don't know," before he swiftly turned away.

Lewis Capaldi and Travis tipped to make surprise appearance at TRNSMT Festival

Several different Scottish artists have been tipped to make a surprise appearance at TRNSMT Festival with multiple TBA act's on the line-up could Lewis Capaldi, Travis or Amy Macdonald be one of them... Scotland's biggest festival, TRNSMT is back for another year this weekend as huge artists are preparing to take to the stage at Glasgow Green. However fans can't help but seem to wonder what acts will be making a surprise appearance. As the three day event is right around the corner, speculation continues to grow over who could be performing a secret set with organisers having previously stated that there could be a few surprises over the weekend. ‌ The headliners for this year include 50 Cent on the Friday, Biffy Clyro on the Saturday and Snow Patrol on the Sunday, all performing on the main stage. ‌ However, with Kneecap being axed from the line up and Lewis Capaldi's recent return to the spotlight at Glastonbury Festival main stage last month, fans seem to believe the Scots icon will show up at the festival. Fans think due to Lewis announcing his arena tour that he will return to the stage at TRNSMT Festival, as it is the perfect place for his to perform his chart topping single Survive. One fan took to Reddit to discuss their theory, writing: "I saw a billboard truck with a picture of Lewis Capaldi that said 'Glasgow are you ready?' Or 'I'm back Glasgow' I can't remember as I was driving past it…. So I definitely think he's gonna do a surprise gig at TRNSMT!" Although other fans are not quite convinced the Someone You Loved singer will show up, as he appears to be in America at the moment promoting his latest single. ‌ Additionally, other festival go-ers believe that the hit band Travis will undertake a secret set this year with Eagle eyed fans having noticed a gap in their touring schedule. The Scottish rock band have been on the road for the past couple of months, but there is a gap in their schedule, they are not expected to return to tour until July 19 which could possibly suggest they will take the stage over the weekend. Another fan favourite rumoured to be taking to the stage for a secret set, is Bishopbriggs singer Amy Macdonald. Taking to Reddit one fan wrote: "Amy Macdonald - got a tour to promote, is in Scotland on the Friday and the rest of the weekend clear." ‌ However, just like Travis and Lewis, Amy has been relatively silent regarding whether or not she will perform a secret set at the festival. While official stage times are yet to be announced or confirmed by festival bosses, the TRNSMT 2025 line up includes multiple high profile performers, such as Fontaines D.C, Twin Atlantic, The Script, Jake Bugg, Gracie Abrams and JADE.
