Karnal: KUK inks pact with board of apprenticeship training Kanpur
Kurukshetra University on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Board of Apprenticeship Training (Northern Region), Kanpur under the chairmanship of vice chancellor, Som Nath Sachdeva. On behalf of Kurukshetra University, registrar Virender Pal and Board of Apprenticeship Training deputy director Sandeep Kumar, signed the MoU.
Sachdeva said that as a part of this agreement, Kurukshetra University and the Board of Apprenticeship Training (Northern Region), Kanpur have agreed in principle to implement the apprenticeship component of the AEDP (Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Programme) for undergraduate programmes such as BCA, BCom (Professional), Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS), and BSc LLT, in accordance with UGC guidelines.
He also highlighted the vital role of KU Technology Incubation Centre and Centre For Entrepreneurship and further said that internship programmes aligned with NEP-2020 have been launched to empower learners with real-world skills, making them self-reliant.
Under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS), students are offered apprenticeship training.

Mandya varsity gets AICTE nod to launch MBA, MCA programmes
Mandya: In a major boost to higher education in the region, Mandya University received approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to launch MBA and MCA programmes starting from the 2025-26 academic year. Additionally, the university is introducing emerging technology subjects—Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Cloud Computing—as optional electives in the Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) programme. Until now, students from Mandya aspiring to pursue postgraduate degrees in business administration or computer applications had to travel to other cities, often facing challenges related to travel, expenses, and accommodation. With this new development, students will now have the opportunity to continue their higher studies closer to home. Speaking to TOI, K Shivachithappa, vice-chancellor of Mandya University, said, "We received AICTE approval a few days ago. Many of our students pursuing BBA, BCom, and BCA were struggling to continue their studies in MBA and MCA due to the lack of local options. "This ensures affordability for students, with annual fees set at approximately Rs 75,000 for MBA and Rs 49,000 for MCA. In case seats remain unfilled through KEA, they will be filled through the roster system," Shivachithappa added. He also highlighted that the university has the necessary infrastructure and faculty in place to effectively deliver these programmes. "This move will also help the university generate internal resources and elevate its academic profile," he noted. Recognising the growing demand for AI and related fields, the university's syndicate approved the inclusion of AI, ML, and Cloud Computing as optional subjects in the BCA curriculum from this academic year. Looking ahead, the university is also preparing to launch Master of Physical Education (MPEd) and MEd programmes. While these will not begin this academic year, the groundwork for their introduction in the next academic cycle is already under way. Students face increased counselling charges for BBA, BCA admissions after shift to DTE
Indore: Students seeking admission in BBA and BCA courses are facing a sharp increase in counselling charges this year, following the shift of the admission process from the Department of Higher Education (DHE) to the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE). With choice filling beginning on Thursday, students are now required to pay Rs1530, including Rs130 as portal charges— 10 times more than the Rs150 fee charged until last year. The sudden hike has added to the financial strain for students, particularly because BBA and BCA courses already have higher academic costs compared to other undergraduate programmes. The examination fee for BBA and BCA is around Rs4000, while for traditional courses like BA and BCom, it stands at approximately Rs2000. "This increase in the registration fee is a huge burden. Many of us come from middle-class families and already struggle with high exam fees and other academic expenses. We also appeared for various entrance tests which are heavy on our pockets," said Priyanshi Jain, an aspirant applying for BBA. "The jump from Rs150 to Rs1530 feels unfair and unplanned." We plan to write to the department requesting a reconsideration or reduction," a senior professor said. While choice filling was scheduled to start on Wednesday as per DTE's schedule, the portal became operational only by Thursday morning. However, students were greeted with a small but welcome change—the addition of a third specialisation in the BBA course. Alongside Hotel Management and Foreign Trade, students can now opt for BBA in Hospital Administration (HA). The inclusion came after repeated discussions between college representatives and DTE officials. College administrators urged the authorities to allow all three specialisations under plain BBA to widen students' career options. Despite the new addition, the increased counselling charges remain a major concern among aspiring students and their families.
