
OCO distributes Ramadan aid in Yemen
Salalah – Oman Charitable Organization (OCO) is distributing Ramadan aid in Hadhramaut governorate and around it in Yemen. This is part of the sultanate's ongoing humanitarian efforts to support the people of Yemen.
The initiative aims to ease the financial burden on needy families by providing essential food baskets through a structured distribution mechanism, ensuring aid reaches those most in need in coordination with relevant authorities.
Officials in Hadhramaut expressed their gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and the sultanate for their unwavering support. They commended OCO's efforts in assisting vulnerable families, particularly amid the economic challenges facing the governorate.
Badr al Zaabi, Acting CEO of OCO, affirmed that this aid is an extension of Oman's longstanding humanitarian commitment to Yemen and that distribution efforts will continue ensuring support reaches the largest possible number of deserving families.

Souqs, tourism sites abuzz with business activity during Khareef Dhofar 2025
Salalah: Dhofar Governorate is experiencing a boom in commercial activity in traditional markets (souqs), shopping centres and tourism sites during the 2025 Khareef Dhofar (monsoon) season. The business activity is driven by a large influx of visitors to the governorate who wish to enjoy the exceptional monsoon weather. It constitutes direct support to the national economy. Commercial activities range from shopping in traditional souqs and modern malls--with an observable rise in sales of handicrafts and local delicacies--to rising demand for restaurants, cafeterias, hotels, and tourist sites and entertainment facilities. The owners of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) told Oman News Agency (ONA) that Khareef Dhofar season provides a great opportunity for the growth of sales and the expansion of commercial activity. They underlined the importance of upgrading the quality of national products to meet the expectations visitors.

Jusoor Forum highlights entrepreneurial projects for people with disabilities in Salalah
Salalah — An event titled 'Oman Broadband Jusoor Forum: A Step Towards Empowering People with Disabilities" was held today in the Wilayat of Salalah, as part of ongoing efforts to support and economically empower individuals with disabilities. Dr. Laila Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development and patron of the opening ceremony, emphasized that the forum represents an effective model of collaboration between the public and private sectors. She noted that such initiatives serve priority community groups, particularly people with disabilities, and reinforce efforts to empower them across various levels. She highlighted that this purposeful community engagement reflects a national commitment to empowering people with disabilities, enhancing their economic participation, and providing them with opportunities to showcase their capabilities and talents. She affirmed that empowering this group is a priority within the Ministry of Social Development's plans and programs, in partnership with Oman Broadband Company, to build an equitable society that fosters sustainable creativity and skill development for all its members. On his turn, Eng. Sultan Ahmed Al Wahaibi, CEO of Oman Broadband Company, stated that organizing the forum aligns with the company's corporate social responsibility.
