Pakistan vs India clash date during Asia Cup 2025 revealed: reports
According to the reports, the group-stage fixture between India and Pakistan is likely to be held on September 7 in Dubai. The 17th edition of the tournament will be played in the T20 format and will follow the established format of group stages followed by a Super Four round.
There is a strong possibility that India and Pakistan could face each other more than once, depending on results, with a potential second meeting in the Super Four stage.
The participating teams are expected to include India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and the UAE.
While the Asian Cricket Council has not yet issued an official schedule, an announcement is anticipated in the second week of July. Promotional teasers for the event have already started airing on Indian television and circulating across social media.
Speculation that India might withdraw from the tournament due to political tensions was dismissed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which confirmed that no such decision had been made.
Media sources indicated that both countries are expected to continue participating in ICC and ACC tournaments without any official restrictions on fixtures against each other.
India are the defending champions, having won the previous Asia Cup—held in the 50-over format—with a comprehensive 10-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the final.

Gill, who notched a century in a losing cause in the first Test at Headingley, hit new heights in scoring 269 and 161 to set up a crushing victory by 336 runs which leaves the five-match series finely poised. It was India's first win in nine Tests at the Birmingham venue, following seven previous defeats and one draw. "New captain, new India", The Indian Express newspaper splashed across its front page. Gill, 25, became the youngest Indian Test skipper to register an overseas win in just his second match in charge following the retirement of Rohit Sharma. He eclipsed Sunil Gavaskar, who was 26 when he led India to victory over New Zealand at Auckland in 1976. Gill came into the series with concerns over his batting average overseas, which had been less than 30, but he has shut down all the noise by stroking a remarkable 585 runs from four innings. Cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar called it a "Shublime innings from the man of the moment," offering his congratulations for "powering India to a brilliant Test victory." Tendulkar, writing on social media, added: "India's approach was to take England out of this game and force them to play differently, making sure that there would only be one winner." Fast bowler Akash Deep took a match haul of 10 wickets after replacing the rested Jasprit Bumrah as England were bowled out for 271 in their chase of 608 on day five. "What impressed me most about the bowlers was the length they bowled", Tendulkar said. India's first win in their nine Tests at Edgbaston also owed much to a superb display by Akash Deep. Given the daunting task of replacing spearhead quick Jasprit Bumrah, rested at Edgbaston, he responded with a career-best match return of 10-147. The 28-year-old's haul included a second innings figures of 6-99 as England, set what would have been a new Test record chase of 608, were dismissed for just 271. "He bowled with so much heart and skilfully with his lengths," said Gill. "He moved it in both directions, which was tough to do. He was magnificent for us." Gupta replaces Allardice as ICC chief executive
Indian Sanjog Gupta has succeeded Australia's Geoff Allardice as chief executive officer of the International Cricket Council (ICC), the governing body said on Monday. Gupta previously served as CEO of JioStar Sports, taking up the job after Reliance Industries and Walt Disney's $8.5 billion merger of their Indian media assets in November last year. His ICC predecessor Allardice, who was appointed CEO in November 2021 after an interim period of eight months following the suspension of Manu Sawhney, stepped down earlier this year. 'These are exciting times for the sport as marquee events grow in stature, commercial avenues widen and opportunities such as the women's game scale in popularity,' Gupta, who took charge on Monday, said in a statement. ICC chair Jay Shah said Gupta's experience in sports broadcasting and digital strategy would be invaluable for the governing body. India's javelin hero Chopra leverages star power as crowds flock to self-titled event
BENGALURU: Olympic javelin star Neeraj Chopra headlined what was billed as India's inaugural world-class field competition on Saturday, living up to his goal of elevating domestic talent while also walking away with another gold medal. Chopra, who won gold at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 and silver at the 2024 Paris Games, triumphed with a throw of 86.18 meters at the 12-athlete javelin Neeraj Chopra Classic event. He finished ahead of former world champion Julius Yego (silver) and Sri Lanka's Rumesh Pathirage (bronze). 'The biggest target of the competition was to uplift the Indian athletes alongside the international ones. We got the best javelin throwers to this competition,' Chopra told reporters after winning the competition. The event drew more than 14,500 spectators - a figure that delighted Chopra, who has long championed greater public support for track and field events. 'We really wanted people to come and watch track and field,' said Chopra, who has single-handedly raised interest for athletics in India and has more than nine million Instagram followers. 'I always request people to come to the stadiums to cheer athletes as they work really hard. 'Track and field is one of the hardest sporting events. I request people to come and watch nationals as well… because our sport can only grow when people will come and watch us.' The event featured three rounds with six attempts per participant, narrowing the field to eight after the initial round of three throws. Among the five Indian competitors, three advanced to the second round including Chopra, outperforming international athletes such as former Olympic champion Thomas Rohler and the Czech Republic's Martin Konecny. 'We have been doing really well in the sport. They (Indian athletes) were quite happy to get a platform to play alongside the world champions,' the 27-year-old said. 'We also plan to add more events to this competition going forward, which will help the Indian athletes more.' Neeraj Chopra aims to give Indian athletics a boost with Classic meet Among the Indian athletes, apart from Chopra, Asian Athletics Championships silver medallist Sachin Yadav performed well, recording his best throw of 82.33m in the third attempt. 'Sachin could have performed better but he twisted his ankle in his opening throw. Overall, it was good. They will hopefully do well in the future. They are juniors and have time on their hand so will surely do better,' Chopra said.
