The Bachelor's Sam Wood reveals secret behind his success in New York street interview - as fans notice one very Aussie detail in his cameo
The 44-year-old former star of The Bachelor was spotted and stopped by a rogue TikTok interviewer while crossing the street.
In a video shared to the Confidence Heist account on Sunday, an American content creator picked the reality TV veteran out of the crowd to interview based on his 'confident' demeanour.
'Excuse me sir, you look really confident. What makes you confident?' host David Carmi asked Sam.
In the video, Sam is seen strutting over a pedestrian crossing in an oversized T-shirt, flaunting his tanned limbs in a pair of breezy pair of white shorts, and finishing his outerwear look with the toe-baring Australian staple.
Australian followers of the popular account were quick to identify Sam in the comments section and to throw in their two cents—with many pointing out that wearing thongs in New York would ooze confidence from an American point of view.
'I think the thing is, when you've been there and done that, you build confidence in layers,' the media personality turned multimillionaire entrepreneur answered.
'And sometimes when you throw yourself in the deep end, and that works out well, you do it again and again.
'I threw myself in the deep end 10 years ago and it all worked out beautifully. It's helped me ever since.'
'I could tell he was Aussie before he spoke,' one user commented, while an American fan enthused, 'Bro rocking flip flops in NYC is fire.'
'I did not realise Sam Wood was now a silver fox! What a vibe,' the top comment reads.
The father-of-four was asked how he felt when he first decided to take a big risk.
'It was very scary,' Sam said, indirectly referencing his time as The Bachelor.
'But when you do it, and it works out well, then you say yes moving forward along the way. And now, when opportunities present [themselves to me], I say yes.'
'Was there something you have achieved that made your mental health better?' Carmi asked him.
'Yeah lots of things. It's all changed since meeting my wife,' Sam said.
'Meeting my wife. Having kids. Having a family. Having business success... It all stemmed from meeting my wife. She's been the difference.'
'Have you learned something about yourself from being a dad?' Carmi pressed.
'You learn what is truly important,' Sam said.
'It changes your perspective on everything. It gives you a totally different reason for being and the materialistic s*** doesn't matter.'
Several fans flocked to the comments section to say that Sam had every reason to be confident.
'I remember him on the Bachelor. The moment he saw Snezana embrace her daughter he had a look of deep love and appreciation on his face,' one fan said.
'BEING WORTH 49 MILLION HELPS,' another user commented on the video..
'Sold his business for $71M I would also be pretty confident and unbothered,' another added.
Sam made his fortune when he sold his fitness program - 28 by Sam Wood - in 2022 to genetics group myDNA for $71million.
The strapping business mogul continues to invest in the company and holds a five per cent stake.
He has also amassed a $10 million real estate portfolio, including a $4million home in Elsternwick which he shares with his family.
Sam rose to fame on dating reality TV show The Bachelor alongside his now-wife Snezana, and they are one of the show's biggest success stories.
Sam gave his final rose to Snezana (nee Markoski) in the 2015 finale and just six months into their relationship, he got down on one knee and proposed.
Nine years later, the golden couple are still going strong and live together in Melbourne with their younger children - Willow, seven, Charlie, five, and Harper, two.
Sam has been in New York for the past week visiting the couple's eldest daughter Evie, 19, who is living in the US.
'Yankees, Knicks, Ricky, Denzel, great friends and most importantly a week of Evie laughs in this great city,' the proud dad captioned a carousel of happy snaps posted to Instagram.

Jeffrey Epstein's former lawyer Roy Black dies after illness at age 80
Roy Black, the prominent criminal defense attorney who helped secure Jeffrey Epstein's 2008 plea deal, has died at the age of 80, his family confirmed. Black passed away at his home in Coral Gables, Florida, on Monday after battling an illness, his wife Lea Black told People magazine. 'Thank you for all your blessings,' the Real Housewives of Miami alum wrote on Instagram on Tuesday. 'We will be announcing details for a tribute and celebration in a few weeks.' Black first gained national attention in 1991 when he secured an acquittal for former President John F. Kennedy's nephew, William Kennedy Smith, in a high-profile rape trial – a watershed moment for criminal defense, as the proceedings were broadcast live on national television. The attorney went on to play a central role in Epstein's legal defense as the financier was investigated in 2006 for multiple sex crimes involving dozens of underage girls. Rather than face federal indictment, Black and Epstein's lawyers negotiated a non-prosecution agreement with federal prosecutors in 2007, which was finalized in 2008. Under the deal, Epstein pleaded guilty to state charges of soliciting prostitution and soliciting prostitution with a minor and received a 13-month jail sentence and was registered as a sex offender. Black had represented a string of high-profile clients ranging from pop star Justin Bieber to race car driver Helio Castroneves. Most of the time, he was on the winning side, as noted by the Associated Press in their reporting. His clientele and courtroom success made him a regular on the Today Show and Larry King Live. Prominent attorneys and Black's former colleagues have praised him for his exceptional legal skill and courtroom expertise. 'Roy Black was the greatest criminal lawyer of our generation, perhaps in American history, achieving acquittals over a span of 50 years in some of the most challenging and notorious cases of all time,' partner of three decades at Black Srebnick, Howard Srebnick, told the Miami Herald. Srebnick's colleague David O. Markus said that Black was the 'GOAT' – greatest of all time – among Miami's criminal attorneys. 'This one really hurts,' he wrote on his Southern District of Florida blog. 'He was 80. And he really was the GOAT of criminal defense lawyers. There are so many of us that want to be Roy in the courtroom – commanding, persuasive, funny. '

Groom's ‘rude' seven-word statement about his wife goes viral as people say they'd ‘die of embarrassment'
BAD GROOMING Groom's 'rude' seven-word statement about his wife goes viral as people say they'd 'die of embarrassment' A GROOM has come under fire for his ''rude'' seven-word remark at the altar just moments after his gorgeous bride walked down the aisle. Entrepreneur James Hachem, once named in the Forbes Rich List, tied the knot with content creator Antonia Apostolou in an lavish wedding ceremony at the idyllic Villa Pizzo in Lake Como earlier this summer. 2 The pair tied the knot in Italy earlier this summer - however, it's the groom's 'rude' remark that got everyone talking Credit: tiktok/@antoniahachem 2 The shocking comment has taken the internet by storm, sparking a fierce debate on TikTok Credit: tiktok/@antoniahachem Shortly before the loved-up pair exchanged their vows in front of 140 guests, the happy groom blurted out: '''F*** me, does she not look insane?'' The groom's shocking comment in the clip highlighted just how jaw-dropping the partner looked in an intricate lace gown featuring a low-cut fitted corset. After the remark, the attendees erupted into laughter, breaking into applause and cheers. As his bride waved to the their friends and family, James, from Australia, can be seen wiping away tears. ''Everyone take a deep breath... today is the day that's going to live in our hearts and our memory,'' the marriage celebrant said. Antonia shared the footage on her TikTok page, with the caption: ''Aussies in the middle of their elegant Italian ceremony.'' The short clip has been viewed more than 507,000 times - with viewers left divided over the groom's remarks. ''I would die of embarrassment,'' one said. ''That ruined the classy moment,'' another chimed in. ''He's nervous, he blurted out what he was thinking - kinda cute,'' one suggested. Watch the shock moment furious Mafs Australia groom hangs up on wife after fleeing the show leaving her 'sick to the core' ''I would be mortified,'' someone else thought. Some took particular issue with the groom for his ''disrespectful'' choice of words. ''Why the foul language?'' one wondered. However, many saw the funny side as they agreed with the Aussie entrepreneur, with one saying: ''She absolutely does look stunning. Valid as f***. Congratulations.'' Why it's time to ditch wedding favours once and for all By Josie Griffiths, Deputy Digital Fabulous Editor and bride-to-be Josie Griffiths said: When was the last time you spotted something in a shop window or browsed past it online and thought 'that would be the perfect gift for 120 of my closest friends, work colleagues, relatives and boyfriend's mate's partners I barely know'? I'll tell you when, never, because there is NO universal gift everyone is going to love - unless you want to bankrupt yourself buying Rolexes and Tiffany jewellery, and even then they wouldn't be to everyone's taste. So why do brides still pile the stress (and expense) of wedding favours on top of everything else we have to organise? I've been to dozens of weddings over the past five years so when I got engaged, I already had a mental list of dos and don'ts for my own big day, and ditching wedding favours was firmly on it. The cost of buying an individual present for everyone coming is huge, meaning many couples try and keep it in the under-a-fiver category. But the reality is no-one wants a cheap, ill-thought-out keepsake - they'd probably rather one more free drink from the bar. It's not only that, wedding handbags are notoriously small, with no room to stuff an unexpected gift in, and catering waiters have a bad habit of whisking away the wedding favours when they're clearing the coffee mug off the tables. I bet none of my guests will even notice the lack of random gift on their dining table. If you really hate the idea of not buying something for your guests, charity donations are always a nice gesture. But the last thing your friends and family need is more random tat cluttering up their homes - so it's time to save them the guilt of binning your Etsy-bought keyring. ''When he said that in front of everyone, I started laughing but I know that he loves you,'' another shared. ''Can't get more Aussie than this - and yes she does look insane,'' one said, laughing as she agreed with how gorgeous the bride looked. ''He's not wrong,'' another added. Back in June, it was reported that the couple's lavish European wedding cost more than $1million (£866k), Mail Online said. The couple looked absolutely besotted with each other as they happily danced after the ceremony, while guests clapped along. The fun didn't end there either, with the newlyweds later hoisted into the air on chairs inside the villa's ballroom and celebratory firework show. James is the son of world poker champ Joe Hachem, while Antonia is a social media influencer and content creator who boasts 214,000 followers on Instagram and a further 195,000 on TikTok.

Shoppers 'vow to stop buying popular snack' after 'tragic' change
Shoppers have hit out at the 'tragic' change made to an iconic British snack and vowed to find an alternative, despite the move being better for the environment Shoppers have lamented a "British tragedy" after an iconic snack underwent a major change to its packaging this week. Pot Noodle, which first hit supermarket shelves in the UK in 1977, is a brand of instant noodles that comes in variety of flavours including Chicken & Mushroom, Chinese Chow Mein and Bombay Bad Boy. Originally launched by Golden Wonder and now owned by Unilever, the quick meal typically comes in a recognisable plastic container, but is now undergoing a cosmetic change for the good of the planet. However, it appears the change hasn't gone down well among some fans, who took to social media to vent their frustrations. "It's literally a British tragedy," TikTok user Honest Thoughts declared in a video, brandishing a Chicken & Mushroom flavoured Pot as an example. "Pot Noodles are now made of carboard, so if you have any plastic ones, keep the pots so that you can reuse because these [new] ones are absolute s***," she said. It followed her previous clip on the social media platform in which she described the cardboard as "soggy af" once boiling water had been added to the noodles. "First our straws, now our Pot Noodles," she cursed. Writing in response, meanwhile, another TikTok user agreed with the sentiment. "Just don't buy them anymore. I'm not. Try a different brand or even stores own brand. A second agreed: "Or vote with your wallet and buy another brand." A third added: "I've got a few plastic pots that I've used for other things, but now the pot noodle will be filling them instead of cardboard nonsense." WARNING – explicit language in video below. Viewer discretion is advised. Meanwhile a fourth TikTok user said: "I had a cardboard one and it was crap - it doesn't retain heat like the plastic ones so my pot noodle didn't take the amount of time it's supposed to. It took ages. I could have made a meal in the time it took for the noodles to get soft." Others defended the move, however, including one person who questioned: "Tragedy? Guess we have different ideas of what a tragedy is. Heaven forbid people care about the planet." And another individual agreed: "Am I the only one that's happy companies are moving away from single use plastics?" Pot Noodle's owners said of the change in a statement online: "Innovating with alternative materials – like paper – is a key part of Unilever's sustainable packaging strategy and will play an important role in reducing our use of virgin plastic, alongside increasing our use of recycled content, moving to ultra-concentrated formulas which use smaller bottles, and other packaging innovations such as refillable bottles. "Following a full product life cycle assessment (LCA), we know that by moving from plastic to paper pots, as well as a significant virgin plastic reduction, reduces the Co2 footprint of the total lifecycle of each pot by 14% which is 3,700 tonnes carbon dioxide equivalents (tCO2-eq.) per year." The company added: "Switching over 98 million pots to paper and saving 1,870 tonnes of plastic every year as is a big step in reducing virgin plastic whilst helping shoppers to make a more sustainable everyday choice. "The pots are made from 90% paper as a single layer of ultra-thin plastic film is used to provide barrier protection inside the pot, which ensures ingredients remain fresh – helping to extend the shelf life of Pot Noodle's and reduce food waste – whilst also protecting the structure of the pot when water is added, without inhibiting the recyclability of the pot."
