Shilpa Shirodkar
quietly stepped away from the limelight at the height of her career. Best known for films like Hum, Khuda Gawah, and Aankhen, the actress chose family over fame—relocating abroad after marriage.
In a recent interview, Shilpa opened up about her decision to leave the industry, the challenges of starting over, and why she never received film offers after tying the knot.

She was drawn to his honesty and felt confident in her decision, choosing to follow him overseas. Looking back, she feels everything unfolded naturally and effortlessly.
Shilpa also reflected on the stark contrast in educational backgrounds between her and her husband—she being a Class 10 dropout and he, a double MBA and banker. Despite the difference, she shared that she never felt inferior or out of place in his world.
She has always been able to hold meaningful conversations with him and his colleagues, and their relationship has never made her feel any less confident.
No offers after marriage
When asked if she received any film offers after marriage, Shilpa explained that the industry back then wasn't as open to casting married women, and she didn't consider herself a big enough star for producers to pursue her return. She felt that her absence didn't make much of a difference, as there were plenty of other actresses to fill the gap. Shilpa also reflected on how moving abroad, adjusting to life without friends, and managing a budget helped shape her into the person she is today.

Ravindra Bhavan misses July deadline, September inauguration likely

1 2 Ranchi: The much-anticipated inauguration of Ravindra Bhavan, city's Rs 244 crore cultural complex, has now been pushed to Sept from July. Officials cited pending interior work and final touches as reasons behind the delay, even as over 90% of construction was already completed. The sprawling multi-functional facility, set to serve as a hub for art, theatre, literature, and public events, has faced multiple delays since its inception. Originally conceptualised before the pandemic, the project was hit first by Covid-related disruptions and later by architectural revisions and finishing upgrades. "This project was scheduled for completion in July, but minor works like interior fittings, auditorium seating, and lighting adjustments are still ongoing. We understand the growing public interest and are closely monitoring the progress. All efforts are in place to complete the final works and open the complex to the public by Sept 2025," said Sunil Kumar, secretary, urban development and housing department. Constructed by Jharkhand Urban Infrastructure Development Company (JUIDCO), the project boasts world-class facilities. These include a 1,500-seat auditorium, an art gallery, a library, a spacious banquet hall, VIP lounges, green rooms, and multipurpose halls distributed across three floors. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Your New Zealand escape starts with Singapore Airlines Fly with Singapore Airlines Book Now The building also features two expansive basement levels (10,500 sqm each) with parking space for 570 four-wheelers and 391 two-wheelers, as well as utility services like STP, WTP, rainwater harvesting systems, and fire safety installations.
