From Shazam to Iron Man: Hollywood's most expensive superhero suits revealed
Here's a look at the most expensive superhero movie suits ever, ranked by their known costs.
This one genuinely surprised fans. At first glance, Shazam's outfit doesn't count. Just colourful spandex with capes. But the film's costume designer told Comic Basics that each suit in the Shazam family lineup cost upwards of $1 million. Even director David Sandberg dodged confirming it. Still, considering the complex tailoring and hidden tech, it might not be so unbelievable.
Captain's World War II-era suit became iconic after the 2011 film, Captain America: The First Avenger. Though later versions were sleeker, this original costume struck a chord with fans and collectors. It sold at an auction for $228,000, well above estimates. The price wasn't for flash, but for history. That suit marked the beginning of something huge in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Christian Bale's Batsuit in The Dark Knight became one of the most recognisable ever. While the suit's original production cost isn't clear, one went for $250,000 at auction. For many, it's the ultimate Batman look. Considering how technical the suit was - layered armour, custom moulding, mobility - the price feels justified.
This wasn't an auction piece. The $300,000 price here reflects the actual cost to create each Black Panther costume. Comic Basics reports that just six were made for the film, putting the total suit cost at $1.8 million. Director Ryan Coogler had hoped for more, but the complexity and cost of each suit made that impossible.
Iron Man's comic-accurate crimson and gold suit remains legendary. The suit was stored in a Los Angeles facility until it was stolen in 2018. Police pegged its value at $325,000. That number didn't come from resale and rather was an internal valuation. No other costume better symbolises the start of Marvel's cinematic empire.
The Shazam family suits top the list, reportedly costing $1 million each, making them the most expensive superhero costumes ever created.
The original crimson and gold Iron Man suit was valued at $325,000 before it was reported stolen from a Los Angeles storage unit.
According to Comic Basics, six Black Panther suits were made, each costing around $300,000.
The high cost is due to intricate design, advanced materials, built-in technology and the need for multiple backups during filming.

Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby Cook Sausage And Smash With Help From Gordon Ramsay
Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby were the latest guests to join celebrated British chef Gordon Ramsay for a fun cooking session on an episode of his YouTube series 'Scrambled'. The Hollywood stars appeared on the show as part of their media tour for The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The upcoming Marvel film is set to hit the big screens on July 25. With Gordon Ramsay serving as an expert culinary guide, Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby tried their hands at making the classic dish, Sausage and Smash. Ramsay saved Pascal and Kirby from tears as he admitted to already peeling the onions in the morning, guaranteeing "no acid". In the first step, the Materialists actor began chopping the onions, revealing that he was "bad" with knives. A little help from Gordon Ramsay, however, made the task a tad easier. Vanessa Kirby, on the other hand, was assigned the responsibility of cooking the sausages. She added oil to a pan, followed by a sprinkle of salt, before stirring the sausages until they turned golden brown. Next, thyme sprigs were added to another oil-smeared pan. Vanessa Kirby helped remove the leaves from the stalks. Salt, pepper and a small quantity of sugar were added, followed by a dollop of butter for that caramelised twist. The onions and thyme sprigs were cooked on a medium flame. After they turned a little brown, half a cup of vegetable stock was added. After that, Gordon Ramsay instructed Vanessa Kirby to prick the sausages with a fork. The reason was simple: it was for the butter dollops to get absorbed evenly inside the meat. The final step was preparing the mashed potatoes with enough cream and butter so they would turn soft and melt in the mouth. Pedro Pascal took on the task of mixing the potatoes with a spatula, creating a slightly lumpy mash. Once done, a generous scoop of potato mash was served on a plate, followed by the fried sausages on top. It was garnished with caramelised onion gravy and fried sage. And voila! Sausage and Smash was ready to be savoured. In a moment of jest, Vanessa Kirby revealed that she had recently learned in an interview that Pedro Pascal was a "bad cook." To this, Pascal gave a nervous smile and told her, "It's a terrible confession to make in front of Gordon Ramsay." Did you know that Vanessa Kirby was a baker? She admitted to making mince pies in the basement. "In the end, it became meditative," she shared. The candid conversation further revealed that actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach was the best cook, who would come on set with "epic" dishes and make coffee in the morning too. Here's how people reacted in the comments: A user wrote, "Pedro cutting those onions, I feel represented." Another one added, "Vanessa trying to get a hold of the situation, and Pedro getting giddy with the salt is killing me." Someone said, "The collab we didn't know we needed!!!!!" and we totally agree. "Pedro is so funny, he makes my day.," read a comment. "I needed these laughs! Loved this!" echoed a few. Some thought it was a "legendary crossover." Between playful banter, behind-the-scenes Marvel talk and a hearty British meal, this delicious cooking session served up the perfect mix of food and fandom.

Avatar: Fire and Ash trailer sparks netizen backlash over exclusive theatrical debut; ‘who do they think they are?'
James Cameron's Avatar 3 trailer is finally here — sort of. Titled Avatar: Fire and Ash, the third installment in the franchise is revving up its promotional cycle, but its first trailer is causing more outrage than excitement. The reason? It's only available in theatres. James Cameron; Avatar: Fire and Ash new poster This weekend, the long-awaited trailer will screen exclusively before Marvel's Fantastic Four: First Steps, meaning that unless you're buying a movie ticket, you're not getting a sneak peek. According to a post on the official Avatar X account, the theatrical-only rollout is part of a strategic partnership between Disney's biggest tentpoles. The film is slated for a December 19 release, with Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 already locked in for December 2029 and 2031, respectively. But while the world of Pandora continues to expand, not everyone is thrilled about how it's being promoted. Fans react to the exclusive release Across X and TikTok, fans expressed frustration over not being able to view the trailer online. 'Having a trailer play only in theaters is crazy, who do they think they are,' wrote one user. Another joked, 'I'm gonna watch a version from someone's cell phone on TikTok, just as James Cameron intended.' Some claimed the leak has already happened: 'You joke, but that's how it leaked. Cell phone recording of it playing accidentally before Superman. Then an IMAX projectionist who had the file, leaked the 4K online. Which I have.' Those who had seen the trailer offered tantalising tidbits: 'Your God no has presence here!" one wrote, teasing that the Fire Tribe and Fire Queen 'look absolutely crazy and the CGI is so freakin good.' Another added: 'Jake getting captured — there will be a lot to digest in the movie.' Still, not all feedback was negative. 'I'm going to buy a ticket just to see this trailer… and leave afterwards,' wrote one fan, while another pointed out, 'Smart move for even more asses into seats.' All is not lost, though — the franchise did offer fans a first look at its newest villain with the release of the official poster. Meet Varang, played by Game of Thrones alum Oona Chaplin, who is set to play a pivotal role in the rising conflict on Pandora. What's in the trailer? The Fire and Ash trailer was first unveiled to a select audience at CinemaCon back in April, and it's as ambitious as expected. Picking up directly after The Way of Water, the footage returns viewers to the lush, bioluminescent world of Pandora. This time, two new Na'vi tribes take the spotlight: the Wind Traders, who fly in contraptions that resemble hot-air balloons, and the Fire People, who command the skies on fiery beasts. Conflict erupts between the tribes, and in one explosive moment, a Na'vi warrior is shot down by a flaming arrow. At the heart of the drama is Jake Sully, played by Sam Worthington, who tells Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña): 'We can not live like this, baby. We can not live with this hate.' With new mythology, warring clans, and high-stakes emotion, Fire and Ash promises a darker, more intense chapter. Now all fans need is some access to the allegedly insane trailer.
