ITV Coronation Street's Gary Windass star is married to famous actress as fans are stunned
Coronation Street actor Mikey North has played Gary Windass on the ITV soap for over a decade and is a firm favourite with fans - but many don't know who his famous wife is. Coronation Street fans have been left stunned after discovering Mikey North's famous spouse. Mikey, who is best known for his role as Gary Windass on the popular ITV soap, first graced the cobbles in 2008. Arriving with the rest of the Windass clan, it wasn't long before he became a beloved character. Over the years, he has been involved in numerous significant storylines. From battling PTSD to navigating failed romances on the cobbles, Gary's stint in Weatherfield has been anything but dull. Particularly recently, as this month saw Gary in a coma in hospital, with the circumstances leading to his condition yet to be disclosed. However, fans have recently been taken aback upon discovering the identity of Mikey's well-known wife. Off-screen, he is happily married to his adoring actress wife, Rachael Isherwood as reported by Leicestershire Live. The couple tied the knot in 2016, three years after they first met. Mikey and Rachael are parents to two children, son Archie, born in 2017, and a daughter Eliza, who they welcomed into the world in 2019. Rachael herself is no stranger to the limelight. The fitness instructor had a significant role in the Hollywood blockbuster, Captain America: The First Avenger, back in 2011, according to MCU Fandom. In the film, Rachael portrayed a USO dancer. Fans have reacted to a picture of Mikey North and his wife Rachael posted on a Coronation Street Facebook fan page. One person commented: "Mikey North and his wife Rachael." Another person quiestioned: "Am I right in thinking she was in a Marvel film a few years ago?" A third added: "Ahhh no way." Someone else exclaimed: "Such a gorgeous couple!". The proposal story is just as charming, as Mikey got down on one knee during a picturesque holiday in the Lake District back in 2015. Recounting the romantic moment to OK!, Mikey revealed: "I asked her to shut her eyes. When she opened them I was down on one knee with the ring. I was looking up at Rachael, with my knees getting wet, and I just said: 'Will you marry me?'". He further recounted: "In the moment before I proposed I was shaking like a leaf. Then when she said yes, I called my mum and just couldn't stop crying." Elsewhere, Mikey has expressed concerns over his potential departure from the ITV soap. Speaking on This Morning regarding Gary's intense current storyline, Mikey made a light-hearted confession about his time in Weatherfield. He shared with presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard: "Gary's walked out and has gone missing. We find him in hospital in a coma." Sharon Marshall humorously remarked that Maria often seems to be a 'black widow' on the street, given her history with men. Responding to this, Mikey quipped: "I think I've been with her five or six years counting, so I've probably got about six months left." Recently, Gary has been central to a dramatic plot, now found in a coma in hospital after a savage assault left him fighting for his life. His absence from the show began following a fallout with his wife Maria. Lou had deceitfully implicated Gary in an affair, prompting him to leave Weatherfield under the pretence of visiting his mother Anna Windass. However, when Maria discovered he hadn't gone to Anna's and returned home, Gary was nowhere to be found. With Gary now lying unconscious in a hospital bed after a chilling attack, viewers are left wondering what happened and whether he will recover.

From Shazam to Iron Man: Hollywood's most expensive superhero suits revealed
When we talk about superhero movies racking up sky-high production costs, the spotlight usually falls on the salaries of the cast or heavy computer-generated imagery (CGI). But there's another area quietly draining studio wallets, the superhero suits. The actual physical costumes worn by your favourite heroes can cost a fortune. And while some suits today are purely CGI magic, many are still made by hand. According to Comic Basics, these real-life builds can be outrageously expensive, depending on the material, design and tech involved. Here's a look at the most expensive superhero movie suits ever, ranked by their known costs. This one genuinely surprised fans. At first glance, Shazam's outfit doesn't count. Just colourful spandex with capes. But the film's costume designer told Comic Basics that each suit in the Shazam family lineup cost upwards of $1 million. Even director David Sandberg dodged confirming it. Still, considering the complex tailoring and hidden tech, it might not be so unbelievable. Captain's World War II-era suit became iconic after the 2011 film, Captain America: The First Avenger. Though later versions were sleeker, this original costume struck a chord with fans and collectors. It sold at an auction for $228,000, well above estimates. The price wasn't for flash, but for history. That suit marked the beginning of something huge in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Christian Bale's Batsuit in The Dark Knight became one of the most recognisable ever. While the suit's original production cost isn't clear, one went for $250,000 at auction. For many, it's the ultimate Batman look. Considering how technical the suit was - layered armour, custom moulding, mobility - the price feels justified. This wasn't an auction piece. The $300,000 price here reflects the actual cost to create each Black Panther costume. Comic Basics reports that just six were made for the film, putting the total suit cost at $1.8 million. Director Ryan Coogler had hoped for more, but the complexity and cost of each suit made that impossible. Iron Man's comic-accurate crimson and gold suit remains legendary. The suit was stored in a Los Angeles facility until it was stolen in 2018. Police pegged its value at $325,000. That number didn't come from resale and rather was an internal valuation. No other costume better symbolises the start of Marvel's cinematic empire. The Shazam family suits top the list, reportedly costing $1 million each, making them the most expensive superhero costumes ever created. The original crimson and gold Iron Man suit was valued at $325,000 before it was reported stolen from a Los Angeles storage unit. According to Comic Basics, six Black Panther suits were made, each costing around $300,000. The high cost is due to intricate design, advanced materials, built-in technology and the need for multiple backups during filming.

SA producer rides the bull of Hollywood
South African producer, Ruvé McDonough, has quietly been making a name for herself in Hollywood, bringing stories to film and television. Her latest project, The Last Rodeo, is a faith based, family film about overcoming obstacles. It's being pegged as 'Rocky on a bull' — that's the Hollywood pitch. It's more than that though. It's about getting up when you're knocked down, doing the right thing and believing in yourself when no one else does. It's about looking at yourself in the mirror when all your options are gone and saying: 'I can'. The Last Rodeo landed in South African theatres a few weeks ago and stars Ruvé's husband, Neal McDonough, who's acted in Captain America: The First Avenger, Flags of Our Fathers, Justice and The Minority Report...

Box Office: Thunderbolts rises with USD 2.7 million Memorial Day Monday, closing in on USD 195 million US total
Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts continues its steady run at the US box office, collecting a solid USD 2.7 million on Memorial Day Monday. The film, which has now amassed USD 174 million domestically, benefited from the holiday boost with an impressive 43.1 percent increase over its previous Monday, despite losing 780 screens due to competition from new titles. The fourth Monday haul places Thunderbolts on track to surpass the lifetime US totals of early MCU titles Captain America: The First Avenger (USD 176.7M) and Thor (USD 181M) within the week. However, while the USD 200 million milestone now appears out of reach, the film is expected to close its domestic run around the USD 195 million mark, an impressive feat for an original ensemble entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Directed by Jake Schreier and written by Eric Pearson and Joanna Calo, Thunderbolts features Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, among others. The story centers on a group of morally complex characters brought together for a perilous government mission that forces them to confront their pasts and rely on one another for survival. Initially teased in 2021, the Thunderbolts project was officially announced in 2022 and underwent significant rewrites during its development. Production was delayed by the 2023 Hollywood labour strikes, but filming resumed and concluded in mid-2024 across various locations, including Atlanta, Utah, and Kuala Lumpur. Premiering in London on April 22 before its US release on May 2, Thunderbolts was marketed as the final film of Phase Five of the MCU. The film's ending notably rebranded the team as The New Avengers, with the asterisk in its title symbolizing that transformation. Since then, Marvel Studios has begun embracing the move more prominently in post-release marketing. Despite facing stiff competition from blockbuster hits during the holiday weekend, Thunderbolts carved out its own success both critically and commercially. With a worldwide gross of USD 357 million so far, it currently ranks as the sixth highest-grossing film of 2025. The stronghold on Memorial Day Monday reinforces its staying power in theaters and its appeal to MCU fans eager for the franchise's evolving narrative.
