Bears should consider Micah Parsons after trade request from Cowboys
Fields has yet to become a worthwhile starting quarterback in the NFL (now on his third team) while Parsons is a bonafide superstar. Chicago would have been much better off putting its QB troubles aside and selecting Parsons instead. But, that's in the past.
Now in 2025, however, the Bears have a chance to make up for it. Due to contract negotiation issues, Parsons has officially requested a trade from the Cowboys. He posted his feelings on social media regarding the situation.
While the Cowboys aren't interested in trading Parsons, per Albert Breer, everyone can be bought if the price is right.
ESPN's Adam Schefter shared what a potential trade package for Parsons might look like, and it should look quite familiar to Bears fans as it's what Chicago gave up to acquire Khalil Mack back in 2018. And that certainly turned out well.
This is a great opportunity for the Bears to address one of their biggest needs at edge rusher opposite Montez Sweat. If Parsons were added, he'd be in the conversation for the best player on the entire team.
In just four years, Parsons is already incredibly accomplished. He's a four-time Pro Bowler, three-time All-Pro, Defensive Rookie of the Year and has totaled 52.5 sacks, nine forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. Plus, he's only 26 years old.
Chicago hasn't been shy about this kind of move in its history. Something similar happened when they acquired Khalil Mack from the Oakland Raiders back in 2018. Once again, they'd be adding an elite talent on defense in his prime to a team ready to win.
Every team in the league would like to make this happen, but few have what the Bears are offering right now. Quarterback Caleb Williams, head coach Ben Johnson, and a team ready to win have a lot of hype. Although they are focusing on improving the offense right now, the Bears have always been a proud defensive franchise.
Parsons would add his name to an impressive list of superstars to wear the navy and orange. With defensive coordinator Dennis Allen leading the way on defense, this is a great opportunity for general manager Ryan Poles to make a huge move.

Could Hernandez be returning to the Cardinals in 2025? Former Arizona Cardinals offensive lineman Will Hernandez could possibly become a current Arizona Cardinals offensive lineman. According to the NFL transaction report on Monday, Hernandez had a visit with the Cardinals. Hernandez spent the last three seasons as the team's starting right guard. The question is whether Hernandez would be willing to sign a deal to return and not be assured a starting role. Even in a reserve role, considering how injuries impact teams, having someone of his ability on the bench would be great for the team's depth. Having him on the roster would allow the Cardinals to hedge against injury or Adams not playing well. We will see if anything official happens, or if the Cardinals used this visit for a potential move down the line. Wings star Paige Bueckers set for lone Brooklyn stop against Liberty
For the first and only time this season, the Paige Bueckers spotlight will shift to Brooklyn. The Liberty will host the Wings star rookie, who made the All-Star game and has averaged 18.5 points per game this season after being the top pick in April, on Tuesday night in a rematch from last week — when a woeful Dallas team, stumbling through plenty of growing pains with a new-look roster and first-year coach, shocked the Liberty at College Park Center. Advertisement Bueckers collected 20 points, six rebounds and four assists during the win, and now the shorthanded Liberty will be tasked with trying to contain her again in front of a crowd likely featuring plenty of No. 5 jerseys. Bueckers was named the WNBA's Rookie of the Month for July — the second consecutive month she earned the honor — on Monday after averaging 18.2 points, 5.2 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game, and during their game Wednesday against the Dream, she tied Cynthia Cooper as the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 400 points and 100 assists by doing so in just her 22nd game. It has provided a fitting encore to 2024, when Caitlin Clark entered the league as the No. 1 pick, rewrote record after record and turned games — both at home and on the road — into glimpses of the reach of her stardom. Tapology Delivers New Ranking System That Is Better Than The UFC
Tapology has just left no doubt which combat sports site sits atop the mountain. On Monday, the site introduced a new rankings system that will immediately become a reference point for the MMA world, and it is already better than the system the UFC uses that even Dana White admits is flawed. As a journalist covering MMA for 15 years, I'm personally ecstatic to see an official ranking system with no human bias and one that after some deep examination has all the rhyme and reason I need to refer to it regularly. Tapology's new proprietary ranking system for fighters eliminates human subjectivity, media opinions, and fan voting. In place of 'vibes,' as Tapology founder Gregory Saks puts it in an article by Ben Fowlkes of the Uncrowned, the new model uses a data-driven algorithm to evaluate every active UFC fighter based solely on performance metrics. This system, five years in the making, measures each fighter's last six UFC bouts, taking into account strength of schedule, short-notice fights, and the quality of wins and losses. Let's look at the upcoming middleweight bout between Joe Pyfer and the UFC's current No. 14 185-pounder, Abus Magomedov. It feels like Pyfer should be close to being ranked, but because the UFC's ranking system stops at No. 15, it is hard to know how close he is to having a number next to his name–as Jon Anik would say. Well, according to Tapology's rankings, Magomedov is ranked No. 18 and it is Pyfer with the higher ranking at No. 16. What does this tell us–especially those who are normally a slave to the UFC's system? It tells us this is an even matchup and one that is even more intriguing now than it was when it was first announced. The new ranking system also introduces a new way to look at upcoming events. We can use the rankings to see how many Top 50 fighters are set to compete. According to Tapology, the upcoming UFC Fight Night headlined by Roman Dolidze vs. Anthony Hernandez, has mostly guys and girls ranked in the Top 50. Specifically, all but five fighters set to compete are ranked inside of the Top 50 fighters in the world in their weight class. That's partially deceiving considering one of those fighters is former men's flyweight title challenger Steve Erceg. He's making his bantamweight debut in a bout against veteran Ode Osbourne. Erceg is certainly one of the 50-best bantamweights, but to the ranking system's credit, he'll have to prove it first. As White has mentioned, the UFC's current system has room for human error as it is susceptible to bias and the inevitable prisoner-of-the-moment factor. This system, while bound to have its critics, doesn't have those same flaws. That's at least refreshing. You have to wonder if White will be asked about this in Chicago at UFC 319 or before if someone has the opportunity. And if he is asked, it'll be interesting to see how he responds. Historically, White hasn't shied away from acknowledging issues with his promotion's own rankings, once calling them 'a pain in the ass.' But he's also known to resist outside influence, especially when it comes to public-facing tools not made in-house. Tapology's independent framework could quietly gain traction, even without the UFC's blessing, especially if fighters start referencing it for callouts and resume building. The more it's used to justify matchups or contender status, the harder it will be to ignore. It'll also be interesting to see if real-life circumstances will influence an evolution of Tapology's ranking system. Take it from someone who has tried to create their own MMA metrics; you sometimes think you have everything accounted for and then something unexpected happens. In any case, bravo Tapology.
