Councillor says Glasgow should look to Primavera Sound Festival
As Glasgow's Summer Sessions concerts in Bellahouston Park get underway today, Molyneux of the Scottish Greens, has called on the city to invest in a dedicated outdoor events space to take the pressure of holding major events off public parks.

(Image: Image: Newsquest) Bellahouston Park will see the Sex Pistols headline this weekend, with Sting, Simple Minds, and Stereophonics to follow over the next seven days, Crowds of up to 35,000 are expected for each show.
July will then see Glasgow Green fenced off for TRNSMT festival, which will run between the 11th and 13th.
Councillor Molyneux said the council and commercial partners should look to the success of the Primavera Sound festival in Barcelona, which takes place in a purpose-built events space called Parc del Forum, which also has dedicated bus and tram connections.

Councillor Molyneux said: "Big events bring people into Glasgow and support our global reputation as a city of music, but having to rely on Glasgow Green and Bellahouston Park to host them does have an impact on citizens who have huge swathes of their parks fenced off for weeks at a time and then have areas that are badly damaged afterwards. Bellahouston is also slap bang in the middle of a residential area and the events put big strain on public transport as well as dozens of road closures.
"The set up for Primavera Sound is totally different. It is in a purpose-built space which combines both indoor and outdoor venues that are able to support a wide variety of events all year round.
"Something similar could be done using the land around the SEC, including its massive surface car park, all the way up to the Riverside Museum. If not there, then Glasgow is not exactly short of unused land, some of which is not suitable for building on, and this could also be integrated into plans for Clyde Metro.
"If we believe parks should serve local communities as well as wanting to keep Glasgow on the musical map, I think this is something the Council and city partners should give consideration to."

Predictably, the press conference turned to the topic she likely anticipated. On probing whether there's any truth to the romantic links, Raducanu responded with a beam, asserting: "We're just good friends." With that, the interview moderator intervened, closing down the query session, to which Raducanu mirthfully remarked: "Way to wrap up!". Raducanu and Alcaraz, both 22 years old, have formed a friendship over the years. Raducanu recently shared the story of how they became close, saying: "I've known him for years and actually in Wimbledon 2021, it was like kind of the first time I started getting to know him, and I had a good run there and then also again in the US Open in 2021." She recalled how Alcaraz's victories would motivate her to win her own matches, which often took place a day later. "And I remember he was always playing the day before me and I was playing like the second day of the round. And I would see him win and then I would have motivation to win and get myself into that position too." Raducanu also remembered Alcaraz's breakthrough win against Stefanos Tsitsipas in the third round, calling it a "And I remember he beat Stef [Tsitsipas] in the third round and it was like a big win, his breakout kind of win on a big stage and it was really cool to kind of, I guess, go through that tournament together and then I kept going through the US Open, but we were staying in touch for the whole time and yeah, it's nice." on a major stage. She cherished the experience of going through the US Open together and staying in touch throughout the tournament. Their friendship has endured despite Alcaraz's rapid rise to success. Raducanu said: "We have a good relationship still. He's obviously overtaken me a lot, but it's nice that we have that from a while ago." She emphasized the value of connections made at a young age, especially as fame and success can lead to new, but less genuine, relationships. "I think for all of us, we really kind of value those connections that we had from when we were young because when you become a bit more known or a bit more successful, you just find yourself reverting back to people you knew from a young age because you're like, that's a real genuine connection, because it becomes very busy and you have a lot more friends but the ones that you've known for a long time mean a lot more to you."

Huge rapper tries deep-fried Mars bar while in Glasgow
Chart-topper Aitch took to TikTok to share his first time trying the famous Glasgow treat in a hilarious video. He shows off the batter-covered chocolate bar on the video while saying, "You've got to try it." He psyches himself up before taking a hearty bite out of the deep-fried delicacy. He said: "Yo, I'm in Glasgow and I'm going to try a fried Mars bar for the first time ever and I'm gassed. Let's go. "Don't know about the look of that, but we'll give it a go anyway.
