Celebrate Hong Kong's intangible heritage at this festival in Tai Kwun
Over 300 intangible cultural heritage artworks created by the educators and students of the Hong Kong Art School and Lingnan University will be featured at this special exhibition, along with interactive activities, to highlight the contemporary expression of the traditions, arts, rituals, and crafts that make Hong Kong unique.
There are plenty of traditional techniques still being practised today, such as cheongsam tailoring, soy sauce making, and even the famous Fire Dragon Dance, but this festival provides a look at how these traditions are also being reimagined and passed down in creative ways. This year's programme highlights the art of flower board crafting, with craftsman Choi Wing-kei and contemporary artist Lau Ming-hang, along with five students, taking on the challenge of co-creating a large-scale flower board installation. These signboards are typically used in celebrations such as deities' birthdays or the Hungry Ghost Festival, as well as the inauguration of projects like new buildings or businesses.
Measuring approximately six metres in height and width, the ICH+ Festival's piece is a nod to the visual impact of traditional flower boards and also the intergenerational transmission of skills that has long been found in the teacher-disciple model of Hong Kong's traditional crafts. Some students will also be exhibiting their works on Guangcai making – the art of handpainting white porcelain with overglaze decorations – each showing distinctive elements of Hong Kong culture. Keep an eye out for iconic subjects like the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance, the Haw Par Mansion, and a traditional 'fishes and aquatics' motif.
Aside from these two featured techniques, there will also be works related to other intangible cultural heritage such as Hong Kong cheongsam making, seal carving, Shiwan pottery making, dough figurine crafting, steamer making, blown sugar techniques, and many more. The art fair, game booths, workshops, and expert sharing sessions that accompany the exhibition will let visitors gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the treasured history that this city's culture is built on.
The ICH+ Festival starts from June 21, with the art fair and game booths available until June 22, while the workshops run until July 5. For the full programme and schedule, visit the official website.

EXCLUSIVE We love Glastonbury so much we got MARRIED there - we undertook one unique act at the ceremony to truly 'tie the knot'
A couple have tied the knot at Glastonbury in a unique 'handfasting' ceremony - with the rest of the music event becoming their honeymoon. Cake maker Charlie Lowe, 31, and her partner Charles Shires, 32, an aerial surveyor, made their love official this week at the iconic festival. Handfasting is a spiritual ritual rooted in Celtic traditions where a couple's hands are tied together to symbolise their commitment to each other. Charlie told MailOnline: 'It was amazing, absolutely unbelievable. The ceremony was so emotional, I cried the whole time. 'We've both been to Glastonbury a lot of times, I three and Charles six. We love it here, everyone is so happy and it's full of like-minded people. It doesn't feel like real life.' She added: 'I got faux bouquets made with disco balls and I made the hand ties myself too. 'I made a wedding cake and brought it into the festival. I wanted to challenge myself and see if it would survive 30-degree heat and it did.' Charlie found the service online and booked it three months well in advance 'to get a good slot', as the practice has become increasingly popular among festival-goers. The betrothed couple then celebrated the ceremony with a Yorkshire pudding wrap for their wedding breakfast and some champagne The happy pair were joined by 15 friends who managed to get tickets to the highly sought-after event. Though the ceremony itself was unconventional, the bride kept it traditional in a classic white wedding dress and veil, while the couple swapped vows. But Charlie joked they won't be able to stay tied together for the whole festival: 'I don't think that would work with the drop toilets.' The Harrogate natives have been together for five years and met through a mutual friend at a party. They got engaged in January and plan to have a legal ceremony next year, but hope to keep it 'low-key'. The betrothed couple celebrated the ceremony with a Yorkshire pudding wrap for their wedding breakfast and some champagne. 'The rest of the festival is like our honeymoon and then I'm having an après Glasto hen do when I get back next week. My friend is organising it so it's going to be a surprise,' said Charlie. However, Zoe Burke, leading wedding expert and editor of Hitched, warns the ceremony isn't actually legal: 'A wedding like this isn't legal in England and Wales, even if led by a registered celebrant, so you'll either need to do the legal bit ahead of time or after the festival celebration. 'For those planning in Scotland, Northern Ireland or the Channel Islands, it'll be up to your celebrant to determine if it 's a suitable location for a wedding.'

Her headline performance at BST on Friday night left no doubt that she was ready to perform on the iconic stage. During her set at London's Hyde Park she invited Ed Sheeran to the stage to perform his track The A Team, with the Brit troubadour another of her A-list fans. Denise Van Outen 'absolutely smitten' with new boyfriend Adam Butler as they're seen 'holding hands' during their first public outing at Glastonbury
Denise Van Outen was seen looking 'absolutely smitten' as she made a loved-up appearance with her new boyfriend Adam Butler at Glastonbury. The Big Breakfast star, 51, delighted the festival's crowd with a secret DJ, where she was spotted 'with the businessman in the VIP area'. 'She was holding hands with Adam and they looked like a couple of loved up teenagers,' a source told The Sun, who also had images of the pair during their outing together. 'Denise was smiling and laughing at his jokes and he was taking real care of her, making sure that other boozy revellers didn't crash into their path.' The Strictly's star appearance with her new man comes just weeks after she admitted of taking up golf to meet 'loads of men' in a hilarious confession. Denise explained how she turned to the sport over dating apps following her divorce from Lee Mead in 2013, after seeing all her male friends take it up. She has been a keen golfer since taking up sport in early 2014, and revealed the 'truth' behind her decision. 'The reason I got into it - this is the truth - it was after my divorce, and I wanted to go somewhere where there are just loads of men', she told Russell Kane on TUI's Pack Your Bags. Denise continued: 'I just went "Where can I go?" Because when you're young, you just go to a nightclub. 'And I was like "I'm not going to be able to do that now, and I just don't want to spend all night in the nightclub". I was like "Where have all the nightclubbers gone?" And I looked, and most of my male friends have grown up and got into golf. I thought "Perfect."' It was reported in April that Denise was dating a new man 'in secret,' who was said to have joined her for a romantic holiday to the Maldives. The DJ and TV star allegedly enjoyed a 'string of dates' with Adam after her split from her ex Jimmy. He is said to have joined her in the Maldives while on a work trip after they were spotted on a date at Akira Black in London, according to The Sun. A friend told the publication: 'Denise loved being single and has been so busy with her TV work and DJ-ing but Adam is someone she's enjoyed spending time with. 'They went public last month on a date at Akira Black in the Mandarin Oriental in London. The presenter has been single since splitting from Jimmy Barba (pictured) in October 2023 and joined exclusive dating app Raya last year in the hopes of finding love again 'She is in a great place in her life, her career is soaring and Adam is a successful businessman, so they compliment each other so well.' The source also claimed that Denise's friends were 'thrilled she has found someone like Adam' as he 'treats her like a queen'. MailOnline have contacted Denise's representatives for comment at the time. The reports of her blossoming romance come after Denise opened up about her dating struggles following her split from Jimmy. She has been single since splitting from Jimmy Barba in October 2023 and joined exclusive dating app Raya last year in the hopes of finding love again.
