Greg and Carrie Penner comment on Demaryius Thomas' Ring of Fame nod
Former Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas was elected to the team's Ring of Fame on Tuesday. The late, great receiver will be officially inducted into the Ring of Fame at halftime of Denver's game against the New York Giants in Week 7 this fall.
Broncos owners Greg Penner and Carrie Walton-Penner released the following statement after the news of DT's election: 'Demaryius Thomas' election to the Denver Broncos Ring of Fame — in his first year of eligibility — is a testament to the indelible mark he left on our organization and community.
"One of the most beloved players and greatest wide receivers in franchise history, Demaryius inspired our fans with breathtaking athleticism, record-setting performances and a joyful, infectious spirit. While we wish 'D.T.' was with us to celebrate this special moment, we look forward to honoring Demaryius alongside his Super Bowl 50 teammates during an unforgettable Alumni Weekend.'
A two-time All-Pro, five-time Pro Bowler and a Super Bowl 50 champion, Thomas was one of the greatest players in franchise history, and he will be added to the team's plaza of all-time greats on Oct. 19.

Broncos' Gem has big contract decision looming large
Gehamat Shibasaki has gone from unwanted to hot property on the player market and now a tough call awaits the Brisbane and Queensland star. The 27-year-old, known as 'Gem', is off is contract at the end of next year and on a modest salary but his manager Wade Rushton has told Wide World of Sports that the Broncos have been unable to offer him a deal beyond that. On Tuesday, Shibasaki said his next deal was not on his mind right now. His stellar season has been founded on "staying present" and not looking too far ahead. Other clubs will be able to field offers for Shibasaki, who is now one of the game's form centres, from November 1. "When it comes to (November 1) I will think about that but what I have been doing is narrowing my focus to now. That has been a big part of my success so far," Shibasaki said. "That is another thing I have got to sit down with my family and talk about," he said. "You look at my age now and I am coming to the older side of things. I will focus on that when the time comes." The fairytale rise of Shibasaki has been steep but there is another mountain he wants to climb. The message from the blockbusting centre to his increasing number of fans will be music to their ears. There's a premiership for the fifth-placed Broncos to win. "That's been the goal since the pre-season once I did get that contract done," Shibasaki said ahead of Friday night's home clash with Parramatta. "The next step was to play and aim for that premiership at the end of the year. We still have seven more weeks left and then finals kick in. This is the time where we knuckle down and get ready for that. After linking with Wynnum Manly, Shibasaki started the 2025 pre-season started with no NRL contract. He earned a train and trial deal and then a development list contract, which he is still on, then an upgrade to the top 30 for next year. Then followed an incredible Queensland call-up for the State of Origin decider where he set up a try and outplayed gun NSW opposite number Stephen Crichton. "Origin was an unreal experience for me and my family. I'm still pinching myself now. It's about taking all that experience and bringing it back here and doing well for the rest of the season," he said. This season Shibasaki has played 16 games in which he has scored 12 tries, made 13 line breaks and 61 tackle busts. To put just one of those impressive statistics in perspective, that is twice as many tries as he had scored in his previous 30 NRL matches in seven seasons since debuting in 2018.

What to know if you plan to attend the Denver Broncos training camp
Football season is just weeks away, with the Denver Broncos' first preseason game on Saturday, Aug. 9. Training camp, which is open to the public but requires tickets, starts on Friday. The Broncos' game schedule was released in May, but before the season starts, the team will start preparing at training camp. Here's everything you need to know about this year's camp. A total of 13 training camp practices are planned this year. They'll run from July 25 through Aug. 5 and then pick up again Aug. 12, culminating with a joint practice with the Arizona Cardinals on Aug. 14. Practice starts at 10 a.m. each day, and the gates to the park open at 8 a.m. Practice runs approximately two hours each day. It's held at Broncos Park, 13655 E. Broncos Pkwy., in Englewood. You'll need tickets to get in. This year, due to construction of the team's new training facility, fans will be viewing the practices from temporary bleacher seating. These will be located on the south end of the practice fields. The number of fans at camp this year will be capped at 800 per practice. Anything brought in must fit in your pockets or be in an approved bag, in line with the Broncos' stadium bag policy, which includes a clear plastic bag no larger than 12" x 6" x 12", a 1-gallon clear resealable bag like a Ziploc, or a small clutch bag or purse, no larger than 4.5" x 6.5". Sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, a portable phone charger, and comfortable shoes are also recommended. Small cameras and small binoculars are allowed, but only if carried in on their own or in an approved clear bag. Seat pads can also be brought along, as long as they're 18 inches wide or smaller and don't contain pockets, zippers, or concealable areas. Everyone will have to go through a walk-through metal detector. Fans will be provided with a water bottle. No food is allowed. Here's what you're not allowed to bring: Parking at Dove Valley Regional Park, 7900 S. Potomac St. Rd., in Centennial, is free, but spots are limited, so attendees are encouraged to use public transit, rideshare apps like Uber and Lyft, or walk or bike if you're close enough. Players sign autographs after practice, and there will be "Kid Zone" wristbands for anyone 5 to 15 years old. The first 30 fans with Ford key fobs also get early access at the gates and front row seats with swag. The Broncos say tickets are sold out as of Monday, but ticket-holders can return tickets they have as late as 30 minutes after the start of the practice day they have tickets for, so stock might increase if people return theirs. If you don't have tickets but want to attend, check the available stock on Ticketmaster. Jerry Jones on Cowboys docking Trevon Diggs' pay: He didn't earn it; he didn't come
The Cowboys confirmed that they have enforced the de-escalator clause in Trevon Diggs' contract, lowering the cornerback's base salary from $9 million to $8.5 million, because he didn't rehab enough at the team facility. 'The de-escalation is contractually spelled out,' Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said Monday. 'When he decided to train in South Florida, he understood what the consequences would be.' Dallas places base-salary de-escalator clauses in its large contracts, all but guaranteeing participation in the offseason program. The team had the option of not enforcing the clause, and Diggs is believed to be the first Cowboys' player to see his base salary lowered because of it. His contract stipulates he participate in 84.375 percent of the offseason program at the team facility. 'He didn't earn it; he didn't come,' Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said. 'That's in his contract that he doesn't get that unless he's going to be here. . . . Those are contractual things as Stephen said. It would be very detrimental to the team not to abide by the agreement.' Diggs tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during a Week 3 practice in 2023. Diggs now is rehabbing the same knee after chondral bone graft surgery Jan. 23, which entails transplanting pieces of bone tissue into the joint to stimulate growth. Jerry Jones was critical of Diggs rehabbing away from the facility in 2023, and on Monday, he made it clear the team expects more from Diggs after signing him to a five-year, $97 million contract extension in 2023. 'We expect a player paid like Trevon to be here all the time. We expect him to be leading,' Jerry Jones said. 'That's not new. That goes all the way back to Deion [Sanders]. Deion was not necessarily given to come to the weight room. I explained to him that it meant a lot for him to be in there. . . . It needs to have some show with it. 'So, it's important. It's important to have the right body language in every respect when you are one of those rare, rare financially paid and gifted players. You've got to have some leadership about you.' Diggs, who could miss all of the 2025 season with his injury, is a two-time Pro Bowler who led the NFL with 11 interceptions in 2021. He has played only 13 games the past two seasons, while totaling three interceptions.
