Soccer-Al-Duhail part ways with French coach Galtier

(Reuters) -Al-Duhail's French manager Christophe Galtier has left the club after they decided not to renew his contract, the Qatar Stars League outfit said on Tuesday.
The 58-year-old's Al-Duhail side finished second in the league, two points behind Al-Sadd, who beat them in the Qatar Cup final on penalties. They also exited the Emir Cup early.
"The management of Al Duhail Sports Club extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to the technical director of the first team, Mr Christophe Galtier, and his coaching staff following the end of his contract with the club. We wish them all the best in their next endeavors," the club said on X.
Al-Duhail appointed former Paris St Germain manager Galtier in October 2023 to replace Argentine Hernan Crespo.

Beating Messi's Miami ‘harder than it may seem': PSG's Luis Enrique

Our goal is to progress as far as possible and to compete for the trophy. But for that, we need to overcome two more knock-out rounds. "The season is very long, as it is for all teams, but the motivation to be competitive is there." PSG winger Ousmane Dembele said he was "glad to see" Messi and his former Barcelona team-mates Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Javier Mascherano. "Leo is a unique person, to share a game with him was magnificent, I was a kid watching his magic on the television, so it's unique," said PSG defender Lucas Beraldo. 'Reality' hits Inter Miami coach Mascherano said he was pleased with his team's performance at the tournament despite their eventual thrashing by PSG. PSG thrash Inter Miami 4-0 to reach Club World Cup quarters
PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN steamrollered Lionel Messi's Inter Miami 4-0 to reach the Club World Cup quarter-finals on Sunday, where they will face Bayern Munich after they overcame a spirited Flamengo side. The German giants defeated the Brazilians 4-2 in Sunday's other last 16 clash with a brace from Harry Kane, after the European champions proved far too strong for Miami's cast of ageing stars. Miami hoped Messi's magic could help them produce an unlikely result against the Argentine star's former club, but the Major League Soccer side were dismantled by Luis Enrique's rampant team. Messi and his former Barcelona team-mates Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba had done well to reach the last 16 but the gulf in quality between the teams was laid bare in Atlanta. Joao Neves netted twice for PSG, who benefited from a Tomas Aviles own goal, while Achraf Hakimi was also on target for the treble-winners. PSG doubled their lead in the 39th minute when veteran holding midfielder Busquets got his footwork wrong, with Ruiz stealing the ball and combining with Barcola to set up Neves again. "He played a very good game... in this team everyone can score and make decisive contributions," said Dembele. Aviles then deflected Desire Doue's cross into his own net, and Hakimi netted the fourth before half-time to put PSG out of sight.
