Howard Stern's Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Bet

Howard Stern's Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Bet

Buzz Feed2 days ago
Back in 1997, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. met on the set of I Know What You Did Last Summer, and basically lived happily ever after.
As a quick recap, the two didn't actually start dating until they worked together again in 2000, when they played love interests in the Scooby-Doo movies. But after that, things moved pretty quickly. Sarah and Freddie got engaged in 2001, and then married in 2002. They welcomed their first child, Charlotte, in 2009, and a son, Rocky, in 2012.
And on Monday, they appeared to be more in love than ever as they walked the red carpet for the new I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel, which Freddie stars in.
Needless to say, hopeless romantics everywhere were obsessed to see the couple still standing strong almost 30 years after the first movie brought them together.
But as fans fawned over their love story on a pop culture Reddit forum, it didn't take long for Freddie's 2001 interview with Howard Stern to come up. Suffice to say, it has not aged well.
In the interview, which took place shortly before Freddie and Sarah got married, Howard warns the actor that the relationship 'won't last.'
'So, you will marry [Sarah] even though you know that it won't last?' Howard began, going on to tell then-25-year-old Freddie: 'You think you gonna know how you feel at 35? You're going to be a completely different dude.'
'And she will be a completely different woman, but it's all good,' Freddie breezily replied.
'And you will probably talk to each other through lawyers!' Howard's cohost Robin Quivers added. Howard later told Freddie: 'I want to make a written bet with you now: In about 10 years, you're gonna hunt me down and go: 'Howard, I owe you money.''
He then bet Freddie $1 million that he and Sarah won't stay together for longer than five years.
Both Freddie and Sarah have acknowledged Howard's bet over the years. In a 2016 interview with Build, Freddie said: 'He bet me a million dollars that we would break up in under five years… You have not paid that bet, young man!'
And on their 20th wedding anniversary, Sarah posted the interview to her Instagram story, and wrote: '@SternShow I think you owe us.' Freddie reposted this at the time, joking: 'She will not forget.'
So, it's pretty unsurprising that it has resurfaced again amid Sarah and Freddie's latest loved-up display, with a popular Reddit comment reading: 'they are a living embodiment of howard stern being wrong about everything so i have no choice but to be a fan.'
'Did he ever pay FPJ?' somebody else asked, while another wrote: 'he was acting like they were 19 and had literally no idea what they were doing.'While one more mused: 'I hate when people who's relationship fell apart project that everybody else will also have a relationship fall apart.'Others just couldn't help but gush over the long-lasting celeb couple, with one person writing: 'They appear to be a blessed couple. They still look great and they appear to be enamored with each other.' While somebody else concluded: 'The way she looks at him 😭 This is the celebrity relationship I'll always root for, I wish all the happiness for them.'

Odyssey fans baffled by resale movie tickets going for $400 a year before film's highly anticipated release

IMAX tickets for Christopher Nolan's next epic, The Odyssey, are already being resold for upwards of $500, after selling out within hours of their release. Advanced tickets for the Oscar-winning director's forthcoming movie, starring Matt Damon, Zendaya, and Tom Holland, went on sale at midnight Thursday — an entire year before its July 17, 2026, debut. Premiere screenings are taking place across the globe next year — in select U.S. and Canadian cities, as well as London, Melbourne, and Prague — at theaters equipped with IMAX 70mm screens. Some lucky fans on Reddit managed to snag single tickets for around $32, plus fees. However, by Thursday afternoon, scalpers were already listing them on sites like eBay for much more. 'The Odyssey 70mm IMAX tickers are already going for $500 buy now on eBay I hope you're proud of yourselves IMAX rollout team,' one irritated fan wrote on X. Matt Damon leads 'The Odyssey' as the Greek hero Odysseus (Universal) A quick search of eBay did, in fact, reveal a listing for two reserved seats to a July 19, 2026 showing. The seller has the two tickets listed for $399. 'The Odyssey tickets have already hit eBay. Good grief!' a second noted, while a third found it 'insane that [tickets] are already being sold for double what it is retail price.' A fan has already posted two tickets to a July 2026 viewing of 'The Odyssey' on eBay for $399 (eBay) 'Someone is trying to resell 2x BFI IMAX 70mm tickets for The Odyssey for £94 Great British Pounds! These tickets are for second row seats right against the wall… THE AUDACITY,' a fourth added. 'That resale pic of Odyssey tickets can't be real. Who the hell is reselling movie tickets lmfaoooo,' another laughed. The Odyssey 70mm IMAX tickers are already going for $500 buy now on eBay I hope you're proud of yourselves IMAX rollout team — Marco Andre (@mrmarcoandre) July 17, 2025 The Independent has contacted IMAX for comment. The decision to sell tickets this early seems to be strategic, despite being unprecedented. After the success of Nolan's previous Oscar-winning feature Oppenheimer, which grossed $975.8 million globally and made over $190 million of its revenue from IMAX screenings alone, it can be assumed that studios and theaters would prefer to lean further into that demand. Earlier this year, it was reported that The Odyssey is being shot entirely on IMAX cameras, the first commercial feature film to do so. The new IMAX cameras, which are reportedly lighter and 30 percent quieter, eliminate the usual problems that come with traditional film and digital cameras, like scanning and processing of the film stock. They also allow the director to easily watch dailies while filming. The Odyssey, which is still filming, is an adaptation of Homer's epic Greek poem. The story follows Odysseus (Matt Damon), king of Ithaca, as he journeys home after the Trojan War. However, his expedition proves perilous as he has to battle numerous threats and mythological creatures. Holland has been cast as Odysseus's son Telemachus, while Charlize Theron has been cast as the goddess Circe. Zendaya's role has yet to be announced, and the characters played by Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, and Anne Hathaway also remain unknown. Other recent casting announcements include Mia Goth, Jon Bernthal, John Leguizamo, Benny Safdie, and Elliot Page. The Odyssey will be released in theaters on July 17, 2026.

Stephen Colbert's 'The Late Show' on CBS is getting canceled. Lawmakers want to know if it's because of his political views.

CBS announced on Thursday that "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" will be canceled after next year, ending a series that has been running for more than three decades. Colbert announced the talk show's cancellation on Thursday via a clip of his new episode, posted on Instagram. "Before we start the show, I want to let you know something I found out just last night," he said. "Next year will be our last season. The network will be ending 'The Late Show' in May." His announcement was followed by a long wave of boos from the audience. Colbert took over as host of the talk show previously helmed by David Letterman in 2015, and has been running it for the last 10 years. The show was first aired in 1993. CBS executives said in a statement to The New York Times on Thursday that the cancellation was "purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night." "It is not related in any way to the show's performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount," the statement to the NYT added. Ratings from the American audience measurement company, Nielsen, seen by several news outlets, show that "The Late Show" performed well in its timeslot. The show notched 2.417 million viewers across 41 new episodes, and was the only late-night show to gain viewers in 2025. The cancellation comes shortly after Paramount, on July 1, agreed to pay President Donald Trump a $16 million settlement over a lawsuit the president filed against it. The lawsuit accused CBS's "60 Minutes" of "deceptive editing" of his interview with presidential rival Kamala Harris. Colbert referenced the settlement in an episode on July 14, titled "A Big Bribe." Making a joke about the settlement, he said, "As someone who has always been a proud employee of this network, I am offended, and I don't know if anything will ever repair my trust in this company. But just taking a stab at it, I'd say $16 million would help." Lawmakers have sounded out concerns about the show's cancellation, asking CBS if the decision was political in nature. Sen. Adam Schiff of California was one of the first to comment on it. "Just finished taping with Stephen Colbert who announced his show was cancelled," Schiff wrote in a late Thursday evening X post. "If Paramount and CBS ended the Late Show for political reasons, the public deserves to know. And deserves better," Schiff added. Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts released a statement just hours after the cancellation announcement. "CBS canceled Colbert's show just three days after Colbert called out CBS owner Paramount for its $16 settlement with Trump — a deal that looks like bribery. America deserves to know if his show was canceled for political reasons," Warren said. Trump has been a regular topic on Colbert's show — particularly during his opening monologues. He's also touched on some of the administration's major scandals, including in his Wednesday episode, where he mentioned Trump and the disgraced financier, Jeffrey Epstein.

Jimmy Kimmel Sends Love To Stephen Colbert, Blasts CBS Over ‘The Late Show' Axing

ABC's Jimmy Kimmel interrupted his summer vacation to show support for fellow late-night host Stephen Colbert following the announcement that CBS will be ending The Late Show with Stephen Colbert — and the Late Show franchise altogether — at the end of the upcoming 2025-26 season. 'Love you Stephen. F*ck you and all your Sheldons CBS,' Kimmel wrote in a story on his personal Instagram account while reposting the video of Colbert revealing that CBS was ending The Late Show at the start of tonight's telecast. More from Deadline Jamie Bennett Dies: Longtime CBS & Disney TV Executive Who Developed 'Live! With Regis & Kathie Lee' Was 78 'The Late Show With Stephen Colbert' Ending Next Year With CBS Retiring Late-Night Franchise 2025 Premiere Dates For New & Returning Series On Broadcast, Cable & Streaming It is unclear what exactly Kimmel is referring to; it may be a reference to CBS' The Bing Bang Theory franchise, whose character Sheldon got his own spinoff, Young Sheldon, which, in turn, led to a spinoff, Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage. In a companion announcement by CBS, the network said the cancellation of The Late Show was 'purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night' and 'is not related in any way to the show's performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount,' a likely reference to the pending acquisition of CBS parent Paramount Global by Skydance. Earlier this week, Colbert, an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump, called Paramount Global's $16M settlement of Trump's 60 Minutes lawsuit a 'big fat bribe.' Settling the suit had been considered a move by Paramount to help secure FCC approval for the Skydance merger. Unlike their predecessors, the current late-night hosts, including Kimmel and Colbert, had showed great camaraderie and banded together during the writers strike for a podcast to support their striking staffs. They have appeared on each other shows and had showed up together at events, including Colbert and Kimmel's bit at the 2019 Emmy Awards, pictured above.
