Hundreds of bikers are gathering to take part in a memorial bike ride for Dave Myers of the Hairy Bikers
4
It is the second time thousands of bikers have assembled to pay poignant tribute to the star
It marks the second consecutive year the memorial bike ride has taken place.
In 2024, an estimated 46,000 bikers arrived to celebrate Dave's life following his tragic death on February 28 that year.
The bikers are expected to arrive in the county this afternoon where two days of events will begin in memory of the beloved chef.
National Highways is advising motorists to allow more time for their journeys and to plan ahead this weekend.
The motorcycle procession starts at the iconic Ace Cafe in London, with bikers joining at other rendezvous points including the Oxford Welcome Break Services at junction 8A on the M40, the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham and northbound M6 Moto Services at Knutsford between junctions 11 and 12.
National Highways Northwest Operations Manager Dee Murray said: 'We are advising motorists to allow more time for their journeys with thousands more bikers than usual travelling across the motorway network this weekend.
'The M6 will be particularly busy, especially at junction 36 with the procession making its way along the A590 to Barrow, but also earlier at Knutsford Services, where motorcyclists travelling from the south will gather before completing their journeys north.
'We urge road users to take extra care with motorcyclists travelling in convoys. Safety advice can be found on our website under our TRIP and BikerTek campaigns.'
TRAGIC DEATH
Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers died on February 28, 2024 aged 66.
The beloved TV chef had battled cancer since 2022, bravely updating fans about his illness.
Hairy Bikers star Si King makes heartbreaking confession 10 months after Dave Myers's death - as he lands new ITV job
Dave found fame alongside Si King, his friend of 30 years, as part of the motorcycle-riding cooking duo.
His co-star announced the tragic news in a statement, prompting a flurry of emotional tributes from celebrity friends and fans alike.
Posting on Twitter, Si said: "Hi everyone, I'm afraid I bear some sad news.
"Most of you will know Dave has been fighting cancer for the past couple of years.
"Last night, on 28th February 2024, with Lili, Dave's wife, his family, close friend David and myself by his side, he passed away peacefully at home.
"All who knew Dave are devastated at his passing. His beloved wife brought him such happiness as did her children, Iza and Sergiu who Dave loved like his own.
"Personally, I am not sure I can put into words on how I feel at the moment. My best friend is on a journey that for now, I can't follow.
"I will miss him every day and the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime.
"I wish you god's speed brother; you are and will remain a beacon in this world. See you on the other side. Love ya."

Jaguar sales plummet 97.5% after fierce backlash over woke pink ‘rebrand' that left fans slamming ‘nonsense' EV
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) JAGUAR sales have plummeted 97.5 per cent after the car manufacturer faced fierce backlash over their woke pink "rebrand". The iconic British motor giant sparked outrage in November when it launched a glossy ad campaign with bright colours and catwalk models. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 6 Jaguar unveiled a controversial new concept car leaving the motoring world divided Credit: PA 6 Jaguar Land Rover's controversial rebrand, featuring bright colours, catwalk models, and a pink concept car, sparked a fierce backlash Credit: Jaguar 6 The revamped logo and badge courted criticism and ignited strong reactions from fans and critics alike Soon after, it unveiled the bizarre Type 00 concept car - a large, pink grand tourer - as well as a much-maligned new logo and badge. The likes of Nigel Farage and even Elon Musk led the critics, with Farage describing it as "woke" and warned the automaker risked "going bust" due to its new design choice. Now, it has been revealed that Jaguar sales in Europe have plunged 97.5 per cent following the botched rebrand. The luxury British automaker registered just 49 vehicles in Europe in April, compared with 1,961 vehicles in the same month last year, according to data from the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association. Meanwhile, Jaguar sales between January and April plummeted 75.1 per cent, with just 2,665 cars sold across the continent. Globally, Jaguar sold just 26,862 vehicles for the 2024/25 financial year - an 85 per cent drop compared to 2018. However, Jaguar has insisted the rebrand has "nothing to do" with its mammoth fall in sales. When the 30-second ad was first unveiled, flashing up a number of slogans, including "live vivid", "delete ordinary" and "copy nothing", fans on social media were not happy. And the controversial ad excluded any images of its sleek sports cars as it touted its transition to a fully electric, ultra-luxury company. The scrapping of the well-known big cat badge in favour of a geometric 'J' design also drew fierce criticism. At the time of release, one Facebook user commented: "If I wasn't sure before, now I'm convinced Jaguar have completely lost the plot. This woke nonsense won't gain anything." Jaguar boss doubles down & DEFENDS new 'woke Tesla' pink EV in controversial rebrand Another said: "As someone who worked for this iconic brand up until production cessation in June it really does sadden me to see the direction the company has decided to take." Elon Musk also turned the knife on X, simply asking Jaguar ''Do you sell cars?' But the sales slump may not be as catastrophic as it first appears. As part of Jaguar's refresh, the car firm intentionally stopped producing cars at the end of 2024, a move which stretched into 2025. The manufacturer is currently seeking to bring in a new range of entirely electric vehicles, which were due for release this year. Defending the news, Jaguar said it was "pointless" to compare figures for 2024 and 2025 as it was seeking to move to its all-electric model and insisted the company's rebranding was "not related to a sales decline". A spokeswoman said: "Jaguar's transformation towards a new portfolio of pure-electric vehicles was announced as part of the Reimagine strategy in 2021. "JLR always envisaged a period when the current range would 'no longer be on sale' before the introduction of the new Jaguar collection. "Production of XE, XF, F-TYPE, I-PACE and E-PACE all came to an end in 2024 as part of that transition. "This strategic 'sunset' of the product range is going to plan and will allow Jaguar to transform and reposition the brand for the future. "Comparing Jaguar sales to 2024 is pointless as we are no longer producing vehicles in 2025 with low levels of retail inventory available. "Jaguar's rebranding is not related to a sales decline." CH-CH-CHANGES Jaguar's wild transition has long been on the cards. Last year, executives made the call to discontinue their flagship petrol motors, including the XE, XF and F-Type, as well as E-Pace and I-Pace EVs. Indeed, only the F-Pace will continue into 2026 - although it's been pulled from the UK market along with the rest of the aforementioned models. Jag then plans to fully relaunch next year as an all-electric brand, selling high-end, zero-emissions cars badged with its redesigned logo. To that end, the company has invested heavily in new designs, concept cars and other ads to go with the reveal. Defending the campaign last year, JLR's Managing Director Rawdon Glover said to the Financial Times: 'If we play in the same way that everybody else does, we'll just get drowned out.' 6 Jaguar's new pink EV was slammed as 'just a woke Tesla' Credit: Jaguar 6 Equally divisive was the decision to change the brand's iconic logo Credit: PA

I reviewed the MOST popular used car on Sun Motors right now, find out if you're eligible for it in 60 seconds
Popular Pick I reviewed the MOST popular used car on Sun Motors right now, find out if you're eligible for it in 60 seconds Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) BUYING a used car involves lots of decisions. What size and style do you want? Are you petrol, diesel, hybrid, or EV? Should you buy as cheaply as possible or invest as much as you can? How can you pay for it? (Sun Motors Finance, obviously. More on that later…) Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up We can't answer any of these questions, but we can tell you what the UK's most popular car for sale on Sun Motors is. 7 It is, of course, the ever-reliable Nissan Qashqai. When it was launched, this compact crossover SUV pretty much defined the category. It's nearly 20 years old but remains as popular as ever. You used to need a lot of cash to get a Qashqai (see what I did there?), but we'll show you how Sun Motors Finance is making it easier for everyone to buy the right car at the best price. I've driven the Nissan Qashqai and I'll give you my honest opinion of its good points, bad points, and anything else I can remember that's relevant. Sun Motors are a credit broker, not a lender. Representative APR 12.9% What are the most popular used cars? Sun Motors is a nationwide marketplace that connects thousands of buyers and dealers. We keep track of every purchase and can reveal our list of the 10 most popular used cars in the UK. You already know that at the top of the charts is the Nissan Qashqai. Here's a list of the rest… Most read in Buy DRIVEN CHOICE I'm a used car expert and this is the 'budget-friendly' motor I'm after Nissan Qashqai VW Golf Mercedes A-Class Mini (all models) Kia Sportage BMW 1 Series Ford Kuga BMW 3 Series Audi A3 Hyundai Tucson Buying a used car? Find cars for under £200 on Sun Motors here. Nissan Qashqai used car review The Nissan Qashqai may have a name that you'll struggle to spell, but its appeal isn't hard to spot. It's a crossover SUV, which means it looks like a car that's capable of running off-road and has an elevated driving position, but in reality, it's a pretty refined and reliable city vehicle. We're going to talk about the second-generation (and subsequent) models that launched in 2013. With this version, Nissan ironed out all the faults and created the UK's favourite (sort of) SUV. The Qashquai is now beloved by middle managers, school-run mums and dads, and anyone for whom a MINI was just a little bit too small. Modern versions are bigger and look more aggressive, but, for our money, don't look as good. 7 Models such as this Nissan Qashqai 1.5 dCi n-tec+ SUV 5dr Diesel Manual 2WD Euro 6 can be found on Sun Motors for as little as £130 per month - it has 68K miles and is from 2015 The high-up driving position offers great visibility, and the responsive handling makes the car manoeuvrable enough to slide into that supermarket parking spot. OK, so performance-wise it's not going to knock your socks off or make you smile too much, but it's a family car, so we never expected it would. There have been far too many engine variations (including petrol, diesel, hybrid, and the latest e-POWER powertrain) for us to run through them all. Reviewers seem to favour the 1.3-litre DIG-T 140 mild-hybrid petrol engine, and we won't argue. Bad points are, as you'd expect, few and far between. The Qashqai is quite expensive as a used car, with other makes and models perhaps a little cheaper to buy, run and insure. The Qashqai is, like lots of crossovers, a bit of a fake too. It's not really an off-roader like the Range Rover, but not many people need that sort of performance (or can afford the price). How to check your eligibility for the Nissan Qashqai 7 Sun Motors offers a 60 seconds finance checker to check your eligibility and avoid disappointment when searching for your dream car What's helpful is that Sun Motors offers a quick budget check so you can see your realistic borrowing limit before you browse. Start by using our "How much can I borrow?" tool to get an instant estimate of how much you can borrow. Are Nissan Qashqais reliable? The Nissan Qashqai isn't quite as reliable as the bullet-proof Nissan cars of old, with the 2014-21 diesel models in particular suffering from engine and exhaust problems. Overall, though, it's a sturdy family motor that shouldn't leave you stranded by the roadside. Try to buy one with a full service history, ensure all recalls have been completed, and verify receipts for any work done. How much is a Nissan Qashqai? Nissan Qashqais start from £5,000 for a 10-year old (2015) model with over 100,000 miles on the clock. Nearly new models, including the e-POWER version, can cost over £35,000. As a ballpark, expect to pay around £15-17,000 for a 2020 Qashqai. It's not the cheapest car on the market, with some used models as expensive as a new Dacia Duster, for example, but it'll hold its value. Can I get finance for a Nissan Qashqai? Finance is a great way to buy a used Nissan Qashqai. You can spread the cost over a set period with fixed monthly payments allowing you to budget effectively. Understanding how much you can borrow before you start searching is vital, which is why Sun Motors Finance tool gives you the power. Add some details and you'll get an accurate indication of the amount you can borrow. When you start searching, the intelligent functionality will only display Qashquais (and other cars) that you can afford to buy. The search takes just 60 seconds and won't affect your credit rating. If you're successful, you can get full approval for a loan on the same day. Sun Motors Finance is suitable for those who have been denied credit elsewhere. We work with several lenders who can offer finance packages to individuals who may have been previously refused credit. Our advice is to check out how much you can borrow before shopping for your new car (whether it's a Qashqai, convertible, VW, or van). Is Nissan Qashqai a 4x4? The Nissan Qashqai isn't a true 4x4 like a Land Rover or Range Rover, for example, but you can find both front-wheel drive (FWD) and four-wheel drive (AWD) models on the market. In off-road mode, the 4x4 Qashqai will tackle difficult terrain like mud and gravel, much more confidently than the 2WD version. Most drivers who really need 4WD performance should look elsewhere. The cool blue Qashqai is in Tekna trim, featuring cool 18-inch alloy wheels, a Bose sound system, and a head-up display. Nice. High-class hybrid: Nissan Qashqai 1.5 h e-POWER Acenta Premium 7 The 2022 Qashqai is a thoroughly modern car. Its petrol/electric hybrid motor produces an impressive 188bhp. It's quiet, quick, and has the mean look of the new Qashqai. This particular car has 43,000 miles on the clock so it's ready to go for thousands more. Buying a used car? Sun Motors also enables you to connect directly with dealers, allowing you to ask any questions you want before making a purchase. How much can I borrow for car finance? The amount of cash you can borrow depends on a range of factors, including your credit history, income, and the finance package (HP or PCP) that you choose. 7 The process is made simple from start to finish What's helpful is that Sun Motors offers a quick budget check so you can see your realistic borrowing limit before you browse. Start by using our "How much can I borrow?" tool to get an instant estimate of how much you can borrow. What's the difference between PCP and HP car finance? PCP (Personal Contract Purchase) costs less a month. At the end of the agreement, you can return the car or pay a lump sum to keep it. HP (Hire Purchase), on the other hand, spreads the total cost over fixed payments, and you own the car outright once the agreement is complete. The good news is that Sun Motors offers both options, so you can choose what works best for you.
