How do cashback websites work
Cashback sites make money by channelling shoppers through to retailers' sites.
Retailers pay cashback sites for the traffic, with some of this money given to shoppers as a thank you.
The amount of money you can get from a cashback site depends on how much you've spent as well as the deal struck between the cashback site and retailer on a specific product.
Data manager Nicola Frapwell revealed how she has made £1,000 while retail manager Lakhan Chauhan has earned £5,000 by using cashback sites.
There are two main cashback sites - TopCashback and Quidco.
Both are free to sign up to and both offer premium memberships which pay out bigger amounts of cashback for a fee.
TopCashback's Plus Account subtracts £5 from your annual cashback earnings for a boosted 25% cashback.
Meanwhile, Quidco takes £1 from your monthly cashback earnings through its Premium account and offers up to 10% cashback.
Just remember with cashback sites to only buy a product if you were going to anyway, not just because you're getting free cash for it.
Remember to always shop around to ensure you're getting the best price for a product too.
You can do this through price comparison sites like Price Spy, Price Runner and Trolley.
You can always do a quick stop search on Google via the Product/Shopping tab as well.
How to bag a bargain
SUN Savers Editor Lana Clements explains how to find a cut-price item and bag a bargain…
Sign up to loyalty schemes of the brands that you regularly shop with.
Big names regularly offer discounts or special lower prices for members, among other perks.
Sales are when you can pick up a real steal.
Retailers usually have periodic promotions that tie into payday at the end of the month or Bank Holiday weekends, so keep a lookout and shop when these deals are on.
Sign up to mailing lists and you'll also be first to know of special offers. It can be worth following retailers on social media too.
When buying online, always do a search for money off codes or vouchers that you can use vouchercodes.co.uk and myvouchercodes.co.uk are just two sites that round up promotions by retailer.
Scanner apps are useful to have on your phone. Trolley.co.uk app has a scanner that you can use to compare prices on branded items when out shopping.
Bargain hunters can also use B&M's scanner in the app to find discounts in-store before staff have marked them out.
And always check if you can get cashback before paying which in effect means you'll get some of your money back or a discount on the item.

Matalan's director of buying and design exits

Laura Wiard, the director of buying and design at Matalan, has stepped down from her post at the British retailer. Her departure brings to an end a two year run at the company, which she first joined in September 2023. Wiard announced her exit on LinkedIn, where she bid a 'fond farewell to all the wonderful people at Matalan'. Her statement continued: 'A challenging yet enjoyable two years and I'm proud to have played a part in the turnaround journey of the business.' In regards to the future, Wiard said: 'Looking forward to a holiday and some time with my family before planning my next challenge.' Commenting on Wiard's depature, a Matalan spokesperson told FashionUnited: 'Throughout her time at Matalan, Laura helped to elevate our product offer and improve the quality and style of our ranges, and we're grateful for all her contributions." Wiard joined Matalan at a precarious time for the retailer, which had just been taken over by a group of lenders who intended to reduce its significant debt burden. Following the acquisition, the retailer onboarded a fresh spate of leadership in response to waning demand and turbulent financials. Under new ownership, Matalan set out to adapt its approach to a challenging market, 'increasing its level of agility and margin resilience', as stated by former CEO Stephen Mill, who was later succeeded by Jo Whitfield. Wiard came to Matalan from SikSilk, where she had spent two years as head of buying before becoming trading director. Prior to this, she had led various buying departments at Primark, including childrenswear and menswear, over a 23 year span. This article was updated August 5, 12:45pm CEST to include a statement from Matalan.

Get a Ninja Thirsti for less with TopCashback From £29.99 From £8.19 Ninja Buy here Product Description Ninja's offering boasts the kind of cutting-edge specifications one would anticipate from the brand and, since launching last year, deal-seeking shoppers made it a Black Friday best-seller on the Ninja website, as well as an Amazon chart-topper during Prime Day. Ninja claims that during trials the BPA-free travel bottle maintained beverages cold for up to 24 hours, or hot for as long as eight hours, courtesy of triple-layered Thermo insulation. The encasing of a sleek stainless steel core also helps preserve drinks' fizz for prolonged periods. Customers on the Ninja website have awarded the Thirsti an overall rating of 4.6 stars out of five from over 530 customer reviews, with 92% of buyers stating they would recommend the product. One shopper even described the Thirsti as 'the best bottle I've ever owned'. They added: "I've been buying other brands of thermal bottles for many years and, although the Ninja one is priced around the same as the others, it is far superior in keeping drinks cold. It literally keeps ice cubes in ice form all day and it looks cool. I'm about to order another two for gifts." A separate five-star review praised the 'brilliant' bottle as 'better than a Stanley,' before concluding: "Very impressed with this drinks bottle and would not go to anything different." The shopper wasn't the only one claiming the Thirsti outshone the legendary Stanley, with another buyer remarking: "I put fizzy pop and some ice cubes into my cup when I started work at 6pm, by 8am when I finished it was still icy cold, still as fizzy as when it was freshly opened and still had the odd trace of ice cube floating around. I am really impressed. "The bottle itself looks modern and slick and, as a mobility aid user, the wrist strap makes it so much easier for me to carry around. Cheaper than its leading competitor (who should stick to making tools), the Thirsti is a must for keeping cool on the go." Whilst numerous customers have remarked on the Ninja Thirsti's robust build quality, it actually proved too weighty for some, with one three-star review noting: "The cup is ok but when fluid is put in it's very heavy, gifted it to my husband." Another purchaser issued a cautionary note for shoppers eyeing up the lighter colours: "Lovely bottle, keeps my drinks very hot. However, it marked very easily and now looks very old. I wish I'd bought the darker colour bottle." On the whole, buyers have been thoroughly impressed with the Thirsti's capacity to maintain beverages at chilled temperatures, with one reviewer declaring it 'the best drinks bottle you can buy' due to its outstanding insulation properties. They explained: "I like to fill it up at night time with a Slushie and take it up to bed with me as it is still frozen and slushy the next morning. If I do that with another drinks bottle that I have it turns to water by the morning."
