Hazaribag: On National Doctors' Day on Tuesday, a doctor, who was in charge of the Chouparan Community Health Centre, identified as Dr Satish Kumar, was caught "red-handed" while taking bribe money in a trap laid by the anti-corruption bureau (ACB).
ACB said Dr Kumar (43), a native of Motihar district of Bihar, was demanding money from complainant Ujjwal Kumar Sinha, a resident of Baghpur panchayat in Chouparan block, for clearing the bill of his Mamta Vahan.
After verifying the complaint made by Sinha to ACB SP Arif Ekram four days ago, an ACB team laid a trap and caught Dr Kumar taking a bribe of Rs 3000. Sources said serious allegations have been made against Dr Kumar earlier as he used to demand bribes ranging from Rs 3,000 to Rs 15,000 from Mamta Vahan owners and drivers to get their bills passed.
Ekram said a search at the house of Dr Kumar led to the recovery Rs 2.38 lakh cash.

Mumbai man held in Jaipur robbery, gems worth 70L recovered
Jaipur: City police Monday arrested a 39-year-old man from Mumbai in connection with the sensational Rs 75 lakh robbery near SMS Hospital on June 3 and recovered gems and jewellery worth Rs 70 lakh from his possession. Accused Ajay Kumar Nat, a native of Bharatpur, is the elder brother of gang leader Santosh Chauhan. Police recovered several emerald necklaces and a gemstone-studded ring from his residence in Mumbai. The case was lodged by jeweller Brijmohan Gandhi, who reported that two men on a motorcycle smashed the window of his parked car at the Prithviraj Road red light and fled with a bag containing emerald necklaces (700 ct), nine ruby stones (1,500 ct), diamond rings, cash, and other valuables. A case was registered under charges of robbery and criminal conspiracy. Based on CCTV footage, police earlier detained Dharmveer alias Rahul Jat from Bharatpur. During interrogation, he named his accomplices: Santosh Singh Chauhan, Vishal alias Bissu, Aniket alias Lala, Rahul Chaudhary, and Arvind alias Neta. The gang reportedly trailed the jeweller from Johari Bazaar and executed the robbery at the Prithviraj T-point. Subsequent arrests were made in Bharatpur and Mumbai. Key recoveries include the vehicle used in the crime, two motorcycles, a .32 bore revolver, and some pieces of the stolen jewellery. Police said Arvind initially kept one necklace before handing it to Ajay Kumar Nat in Bharatpur. Ajay, who acted as the gang's handler, allegedly downplayed the value of the loot to his associates and fled to Thane. During sustained interrogation, he led the police to the stash of jewellery. "Efforts are underway to nab absconding accused Santosh Chauhan and Vishal alias Bissu," said an official. Police said the gang is known for targeting jewellers and hawala operators in Jaipur and Mumbai. Ajay Kumar was primarily responsible for disposing of stolen goods and maintaining the gang's anonymity.

Addl SP, co commander arrested for taking bribe
Jaipur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Monday arrested a Rajasthan Police Service (RPS) officer of additional SP rank and a company commander for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 2 lakh to reinstate a suspended Home Guard constable and assign him to duty. According to officials, the ACB Jaipur City II unit laid the trap after receiving a complaint from a suspended Home Guard constable, who alleged that additional SP Navneet Joshi, posted as commandant at the Home Guard Training Centre, and company commander Chandrapal Singh Shekhawat were demanding a bribe of Rs 2 lakh in eight monthly instalments of Rs 25,000 each. The accused were caught red-handed while accepting the first instalment of Rs 25,000 from the complainant. The trap was led by an ACB team and executed at the Home Guard Training Centre located on MI Road in Jaipur. "The complainant informed us that Joshi and Shekhawat were pressuring him to pay Rs 25,000 each month for eight months to lift his suspension and put him back on duty. Our verification confirmed the allegation, and accordingly, the trap was set," said an ACB official. Officials added that during the trap operation on Monday afternoon, the complainant handed over Rs 25,000 as the first instalment, and both accused were immediately caught accepting the bribe. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like People Aged 50-85 With No Life Insurance Could Get This Reassured Get Quote Undo "The money was being collected by Shekhawat and transferred to Joshi," the official added. Following the arrests, ACB teams launched simultaneous searches at the residences of both officials. At Joshi's residence, Rs 4.85 lakh in cash and documents for five plots were recovered. From Shekhawat's premises, the ACB recovered Rs 2.57 lakh in cash, documents for two plots, and papers related to other properties, including a residential asset. Officials suspect that there may be more Home Guard constables who were either asked to pay or have already paid bribes for reinstatement or duty assignments. "We are currently focusing on the trap case, although the possibility of Joshi being involved in asking for bribes from other constables cannot be ruled out," said the official. The bureau confirmed that both Joshi and Shekhawat are being interrogated under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Senior ACB officers said that the documents recovered are being scrutinised to assess whether the accused officers possess assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.
