Daily Mail4 days ago
NRL star Bradman Best and his partner Kayla Fenech have returned from a Hamilton Island getaway as they prepare for parenthood.
Best, 23, was spotted with the daughter of Aussie boxing legend Jeff Fenech looking very much in love as they arrived in Sydney.
The representative centre can put his feet up this weekend, as the Knights have a bye in the NRL.
It comes as Fenech - dubbed the 'Marrickville Mauler' can't wait to be a grandfather.
The former IBF and WBC title holder previously stated that he didn't want his daughter to date a rugby league player - but changed his tune after meeting Best.
The couple recently announced they are expecting a baby in 2026 on Instagram.
'Baby Best due in January 2026. We can't wait,' Kayla wrote on the social media platform.
But despite his earlier comments, Fenech has now spoken of his delight at the news.
'They are so happy,' he told The Daily Telegraph.
'And I'm so proud of both of them. Whether it's a boy or a girl, the baby is going to have some great genes.
'And they'll be great parents. I love Kayla and Bradman is a great fella who will make a great dad.'
Fenech said he initially went 'apes***' when he found out his daughter was dating a footy player.
'I'd always warned my girls about going out with league players,' he had previously said.
He added: 'So when she rang and told me, I went off the deep end. I gave her a roasting. She kept trying to say, 'Dad, he's a lovely guy'. Kayla was telling me every day how nice he was.
'Bradman knew I was angry, but he told Kayla, 'I'll prove your dad wrong' - and he (certainly) has.'
Kayla has over 200,000 followers on Instagram and works as a business development manager for Ray White.
Kayla held the ultrasound and a tiny pair of Nike trainers as she announced she and Best are expecting a baby in January
Fenech stated he was 'so proud' of the pair, having also previously revealed that he and Best had gone down to the gym to train together
After announcing the big news on Instagram, the pair received a heartfelt reception from many of their close friends and family.
Her mother Suzee wrote in the comments: 'Omg I'm so proud of you both, can't wait to meet my gorgeous little bubba.
'Super excited to be on this next chapter/journey with you both. Luv u both.'
Best, 23, made his debut for the Knights in 2019 and has gone on to make 98 appearances for the side, scoring 42 tries.

Wales coach Lynn on 'honest' captain conversation

Wales head coach Sean Lynn says he axed Hannah Jones as captain so she could concentrate on her performances heading into the World Jones had skippered Wales for more than two years and held onto the role when Lynn charge at the start of this year's Six after a winless campaign, it was revealed last month Lynn – Jones' former coach at English champions Gloucester-Hartpury - had opted for a Alex Callender and Kate Williams were confirmed on Monday as co-captains for the upcoming two-Test tour of Australia and the World Cup that kicks off in England in August."We had a chat after the Six Nations, some good honest conversations, and I just felt I didn't see a Hannah I saw in Gloucester-Hartpury," Lynn said."She's gone through some tough times as captain and I can't fault what she's done."She was very professional about it; she just said, 'Whatever's right for the team, I will do'." Jones has won 65 caps for Wales and initially replaced Siwan Lillicrap as captain in despite success on the club front at Gloucester, she has endured a difficult time with Wales following back-to-back wooden spoons and a contract dispute that led her to contemplate quitting."She was very disappointed – as you would expect when you're told the captaincy is going to be taken away," added Lynn, who said he was not worried he was risking his relationship with Jones over the move."She was upset but she knew it was my decision and her response has been brilliant in training, going above and beyond."I'm hoping we will see a different Hannah and I want her to lead the way she can lead on the pitch." Jones has been included in the 30-player squad for the two fixtures against the Wallaroos, starting with the first test in Brisbane on Saturday, 26 they will be led by co-captains for the first time, with Lynn praising Callender's "energy" and 25-year-old Williams' "strategic approach"."I think the two personalities just bounce off each other," he said of the back-row pairing, who were told together of the decision by Lynn."We're both really excited about the journey we're on," said Callender, the 24-year-old Harlequins flanker. "Hannah congratulated us; she's done a massive job for us during tough times, including the contracts, but she's been happy for us to lead the team."To do it together takes some of the pressure off just one person, but we're just excited to get going into the World Cup."Meanwhile Gloucester-Hartpury's Swansea-born Williams – who only joined the Wales set-up three years ago having been brought up in New Zealand – said: "I didn't think I'd be at the next World Cup when I first came over, but for the coach to put his trust in me and Alex is a massive opportunity I'm really proud and grateful for." 'Schedule is what it is - but we'll embrace it' Three young uncapped players have been included, with Lynn saying scrum-half Seren Lockwood, prop Katherine Baverstock and lock Tilly Vucaj all have a chance of making it to the World Cup that begins for Wales against Scotland in Salford on Saturday, 23 he hailed the return of prop Sisilia Tuipulotu who has not played since undergoing surgery on a hamstring injury in Natalia John (calf) and centres Kerin Lake (shoulder) and Hannah Bluck (calf) are missing through injury, though none are thought to be at risk of missing the World Cup, where Wales will also face Fiji and trio's recovery will continue at home where Lynn has so far overseen a gruelling fitness regime having identified fitness and discipline as issues following a review of the winless Six Nations has included sand dune running at Merthyr Mawr, training in dojos under the supervision of a new 'collision coach', former Wigan and Wales Rugby League international Ben Flower, as well as military training with the Royal Welsh regiment."I learnt a lot in that Six Nations campaign and the big thing was we needed to work harder," Lynn said, who said accuracy dropped off in games. "Everything about us now is building this identity and making sure that we are competitive and we're a hard team to beat and we work hard for each other."Players and staff have been held accountable and we're in a good place to go to Australia where it will be a challenge."We're not going to be the finished article, but everything will be building, going into Scotland."Wales has lost their last two against Australia following their maiden victory over the Wallaroos in Newport in September though, played down the debatable choice of travelling 10,000 miles for two test matches in the space of six days to prepare for a tournament in if it was ideal preparation, Lynn said: "It is what it is, and we're going to embrace it."He added: "It was booked before I took on the role, but I'm getting excited; we're playing Australia, in Australia and it'll be a great opportunity for us as a group to spend valuable time with each other."

Mum is left horrified by Virgin passenger's 'inappropriate' five-word request to three-year-old daughter as they boarded flight

A Virgin airlines customer has revealed the shocking moment a stranger tapped her three-year-old daughter on the shoulder and delivered a chilling warning. Emma Darrouzet and her family were traveling from Brisbane to Port Douglas when her daughter was approached by a fellow Virgin Australia passenger. The mum and her daughter, Odette, were 'at the airport, about to get on a plane for a family holiday' when the incident took place. 'As I was standing to check my bag in, a lady tapped my three-year-old daughter on the shoulder and said, 'Hello, I hope you know you need to be quiet on the airplane',' she said in a TikTok. In the video, Ms Darrouzet asks Odette if she was approached by a 'silly lady', to which the little girl nods her head. The artist told Yahoo Lifestyle she was 'taken aback' by the exchange and her daughter had been left frightened. She told the woman her daughter has flown before and 'knows what to do on a plane'. Ms Darrouzet went through security and met up with her husband and two other children, but was later shocked to see the woman queuing up for the same plane. @ Ummm… can we talk about airport etiquette for a second? 😡 Today at the bag drop, a random woman actually walked up and touched my kid, bent down low, and said right to her face that she needed to be quiet on the plane. First of all, WHO touches a stranger's child? Second, Odie is literally the dream flyer, headphones on, iPad, chilling. She wasn't even making a sound at the time. I was honestly SHOOK. The woman knew she crossed a line too because she bolted before I could even say anything. Like… what would you have said? Because I'm still ready to rehearse my clapback in the shower tonight. 😂 Is it controversial to say: Don't. Touch. Other. People's. Kids. Ever. #airport #donttouch #travelgram ♬ original sound - Emma Darrouzet Art 'It was completely out of line,' the mum and artist said. The incident divided viewers with some insisting airlines consider child-free flights, while others declared that those who travel without children have the 'right to a peaceful' journey. 'I would never say it out loud, but that's all we're hoping for, a tantrum free flight,' one commented. 'There needs to be a section on all airplanes where all the children and their parents sit with sound proof walls so the rest of us can enjoy a peaceful flight,' another shared. 'No this woman is not a silly lady because we all have the right to a peaceful, quiet flight,' a third said. However, others were horrified at the female passenger approached a three-year-old regardless of her intention. 'I'm a childless adult, so I do enjoy my quiet. However, having some random approach a child and make veiled threats is 100 per cent unacceptable and would be a serious issue for me,' one argued. 'She's going to be quiet or what? What are you doing to do if she's not quiet?' 'Regardless of what she said, a stranger touching my child and/or telling them what to do is a hard no from me,' another agreed. Someone else wrote: 'She walked up to a completely silent child, touched a random kid she doesn't know, and told them to be quiet on the plane. 'All while said child is standing there quietly. I'd knock her out.' Australian airlines do not offer child-free options for flights, but it's been over 10 years since Asian carriers Scoot and AirAsia introduced child-free cabins. The 'ScootinSilence' seats are located towards the front of the aircraft, giving passengers the option to book a seat in a child-free area where travellers under the age of 12 are banned. AirAsia offers a child-free zone, located in the first seven rows of economy class, on some of its flights to China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Australia and Nepal.

Cruz Hewitt fumes at his tennis legend dad, Lleyton, as the young Aussie star suffers hot-tempered Wimbledon defeat

Cruz Hewitt took his frustrations out on former Wimbledon champion dad, Lleyton, during a hot-tempered second-round defeat in the boys singles. Australian Lleyton, who won the title in 2002, was on Court 5 to support his 16-year-old son as he fell to a 6-3, 6-0 to 11th seed to Oskari Paldanius. As the match slipped away from Cruz, the youngster got increasingly agitated towards his father, gesturing in his direction after almost every point – once even appearing to accuse Hewitt senior, who sat motionless under a cap and sunglasses for most of the contest, of 'acting for the cameras'. At one point after Lleyton, sporting a backwards cap in true Hewitt family fashion, tried to give him some words of wisdom from the side of court, Cruz responded: 'I tried that!'. Another piece of advice prompted the youngster to walk away shaking his head. When he hit one strong winner in the second set, he turned immediately to his dad and prodded his finger into his own chest. Cruz fired back at his team multiple times on the court on Tuesday, as they tried to offer up words of support and advice to help the youngster progress After his team tried to reassure him that everything was 'fine' as he faced break point at 3-0 in the second set, he snapped back: 'It's not fine, it's nearly four-love!' How different it was from the start of this tie when he took the second point of the match and produced a trademark Hewitt fist pump towards his team. 'Here you go, mate, all day!' Lleyton roared when Cruz, already in the top 50 junior ranks, broke back in the opening set. 'Great spots mate,' he cried at another winning point. How different, too, to Cruz's opening-round where he obliterated Russian Savva Rybkin 6-1, 6-2 inside 51 minutes. 'Dad was proud, it was great to have him there,' Cruz told The Sydney Morning Herald after his win. 'It was a great feeling. 'I've watched my dad play here for many years, and I've always wanted to play on these courts, so I was enjoying every moment. Hewitt (pictured) was beaten 6-3, 6-0 by 11th seed Oskari Paldanius. Despite the loss, he had gotten off to a fast start in the match, fist-bumping the air after taking the second point 'He just said: 'Now you can finally play on the courts and enjoy it', so it was a great day. 'There is nothing you can do about [who your dad is]. It's a little tough, but there are pros and cons, and you've just got to focus on the positives that come with it, so that's what I try and do.' Hewitt's victory followed his victory over world No 5 Jagger Leach, two years his senior and son of former Wimbledon champion Lindsay Davenport, at Roehampton a week ago.
