Makhadzi, DJ Zinhle and Zee Nxumalo are also on the list.
Mabotja will be up against the likes of Lootluv, Dineo Lusenga and "The Real Housewives of Durban" reality star, Laconco in respective categories.
Speaking on her triple nomination, Mabotja said: "It's such a blessing to be recognised across the different mediums I pour my heart into. Each space allows me to connect with people in a unique way, and I'm so grateful to every listener, viewer, subscriber, follower and voter who has supported my journey and continually shares love for my work."
Joining Mabotja in the fray is singer Makhadzi, who has received two nominations for her electrifying hit "Number 1" vying for both Dance Artist of the Year and Artist of the Year.

The competition is fierce, especially in the coveted DJ of the Year category, where DJ Zinhle will face off against notable figures such as Lerato Kganyago, Lamiez Holworthy, Kele Megano and DJ Tshepi.
The emerging talents, including newcomers like Nonny Muji, Ayarhkay, Lani M and Mega Snowflake, add another layer of excitement to this year's nominations.
Hloni Modise Matau, CEO of the Basadi in Music Awards, expressed her excitement for this year's event: "These awards celebrate female excellence in the music industry. While progress has been made, there is still work to be done. Big things happen when women support each other. This is for all queens with big dreams who may be hesitant, I want them to see that achieving greatness is possible."
As anticipation builds for this extraordinary celebration of feminine excellence, the Basadi in Music Awards continue to forge pathways for recognition and empowerment, proving that the contributions of women in entertainment are both vital and transformative.
The 2025 Basadi in Music Awards will be held on August 1 and 2 at the Joburg Theatre.

From laughter to liberation: Conrad Koch talks 'Puppet Power' and comedy's role in tough times

Comedy duo Conrad Koch and Chester Missing are back to tickle the funnybone with 'Puppet Power'. Image: Supplied Catch 'Puppet Power', the national tour by comedy duo Conrad Koch and Chester Missing, is coming to the Pieter Toerien Theatre at Montecasino for a limited run from July 10. Ahead of the show, 'Independent Media Lifestyle' caught up with Koch to unpack his journey in the industry, especially with his socio-political commentary that has left Mzansi in stitches. When asked how the evolution of current affairs-driven comedy influenced his latest show, "Puppet Power", he said: 'With the rise of TikTok and other high-reach, high-impact social media, we as comedians have tools we never dreamed of. 'And in this watershed moment in history as far as conversations on race and colonialism globally and in SA, and the influence of the billionaire class turning even Donald Trump and Cyril Ramaphosa into puppets of sorts, the question of power, and in particular 'Puppet Power' has never been more relevant.' He was then asked about what he enjoyed most about leveraging the power of laughter to offset the heaviness of real life. He said: 'South Africans have survived the unimaginable, and having an opportunity to poke fun at the systems that made that happen, to say what many would like to say, via jokes, is a privilege I both do not take lightly and also approach with extreme silliness. 'The reaction and support Chester and I get from ordinary South Africans is incredible and deeply appreciated.' Video Player is loading. Image: Supplied He confessed that he never envisioned Chester achieving such widespread acclaim when he first brought him to life. 'Never in a million years did I imagine I'd have a puppet who would be allowed to interview an actual president. It's nuts,' he laughed. As for the new puppets he will be unleashing in his new show, he shared: 'I am super excited for audiences to meet the new characters in this show. I have a celebrity chef rat who used to cook for Donald Trump. He's delightful and new. "My high school teacher, Mr Dixon, is easily Chester's match for comedy clout on stage, although, with Chester's huge social media presence, it may take a while to catch up. Don't tell the puppets I said that.' When asked about the '99% silliness with a dash of satirical truth' in his press release, he explained: 'In the past, my shows were very political, with the likes of Pieter-Dirk Uys shaping my vision. "These days, I have made the shows far more accessible - your 12-year-old will love the show, while still saying what needs to be said about South Africa and global affairs. 'We go from nailing these fake Afrikaner refugees to turning someone in the audience into a talking dinosaur, and more. South Africans want to laugh. So laughter is what they will get.' Having kicked off his tour in a few smaller rooms in Cape Town, Koch also recently received a Standard Bank Ovation Award for it at the National Arts Festival in Makhanda. At the prestigious Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, Oscar-winning actor Michael Douglas opened up about his thoughts on retirement and the meaning of creativity after an illustrious career spanning nearly six decades. Next Stay Close ✕ Douglas, who has graced the silver screen for nearly 60 years, conceded that it was time to slow down. 'I've had a very busy career. Now, I have not worked since 2022, purposely because I realised I had to stop. I'd been working pretty hard for almost 60 years and I did not want to be one of those people who dropped dead on the set,' Douglas shared at the 50th anniversary screening of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", which he won an Oscar for producing. Douglas's last screen appearance was as President Benjamin Franklin in the forthcoming Apple TV+ series "Franklin", which was filmed in 2022. 'I'm very happy with taking the time off. I have no real intentions,' he said about taking on another performance. However, he left the door open, stating he would 'go back' if something particularly special came across his path. The actor, whose film lineage traces back to his father, the legendary Kirk Douglas, said he prefers to now watch his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, thrive in her career. "I just like to watch my wife work," referring to her upcoming role as Morticia Addams in the second season of Netflix's "Wednesday". Douglas's conversation also touched upon pertinent issues beyond cinema, highlighting his concerns regarding the state of American democracy. "I hope that what we're struggling with right now is a reminder of all the hard work the Czechs did in gaining their freedom and independence." He also expressed that democracy is fragile and must be continuously protected. As a significant figure in Hollywood, Douglas has also been an influential producer behind notable projects, including "Starman", "Flatliners" and "Face/Off". With his company, Further Films, founded in 1997, he hopes to continue his contributions to the industry by developing more independent films. In 2010, Douglas was diagnosed with stage four throat cancer, undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment. "Stage 4 cancer is not a holiday, but there aren't many choices, are there?' he said. 'I went with the program involving chemo and radiation and was fortunate. The surgery would have meant not being able to talk and removing part of my jaw and that would have been limiting as an actor.'
