FC Midtjylland is based in Herning in Denmark. The club is the result of a merger between Ikast FS and Herning Fremad.

That defeat saw them drop in the UEFA Europa League League Phase. During that stage of the competition, they beat Maccabi Tel Aviv, Union Saint-Gilloise, and Ludogrets Razgrad, drew with TSG Hoffenheim and Fenerbahce, and were beaten by FCSB, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Porto.
They finished 20th in the League Phase, which saw them qualify for the Knockout Phase Play-Off. They faced Spanish side Real Sociedad and were beaten 2-1 at home, and 5-2 away.

Kevin Nisbet hit with £5m Millwall sucker punch as ex Aberdeen star's future thrown deeper into doubt
Nisbet had been told he would be given a chance to prove his worth at the Den next season - but that stance may have changed Kevin Nisbet will be hoping to hit the ground running on his return to Millwall following his successful loan spell with Aberdeen. The Scotland striker netted 14 times in 37 matches in all competitions to finish as the Dons top scorer as Jimmy Thelin 's men put a disappointing fifth place finish in the Premiership behind them by shocking Celtic to win the Scottish Cup on penalties. However, despite claims from Millwall boss Alex Neil back in April that he intends to have a look at the player this summer, Nisbet 's chances of getting regular game time at the Den have been dealt a huge blow after the English Championship side smashed their transfer record to sign Middlesbrough forward Josh Coburn. The 22-year-old scored six goals in 25 matches in his loan spell in south-east London last season and those displays were enough to convince the Lions to fork out a transfer fee that could rise to as much as £5million for his services on a permanent basis. Nisbet returns to Millwall this summer with just a year remaining on his contract. The 28-year-old arrived in London from Hibernian in a £2m switch back in January 2023 but injuries and lack of form have seen him register just five goals in 30 matches for the club. Aberdeen supporters would love to see their top goal scorer back in the Granite City ahead of a European campaign that will last until Christmas at the earliest but are likely to find themselves priced out of a move when a transfer fee and wages are factored in. Premiership rivals Hearts have also been linked with the player, with the Jambos set to try and replace out-of-contract skipper Lawrence Shankland should he decide to move on from the capital club. Following the Dons' triumph at Hampden, Nisbet insisted his sole focus was on returning to Millwall in pre-season in order to try and make an impression on compatriot Neil. He said: "I'll be back with them pre-season. I don't really want to talk about other clubs and stuff like that. "I'll be back with them pre-season and we'll take it from there." In early April, Neil had expressed his desire to give the attacker a chance to prove his worth upon his return to The Den. When asked if he had held any discussions about the player's long-term future, former Hamilton and Norwich gaffer Neil responded: "Not particularly. "There's been discussions around the squad in general, but the simple fact is: Kevin's our player. "Steve Gallen was up watching on the weekend, so he's seen the two goals that he scored. I believe he met him after the game. "So we're still keeping tracks on all our players that are out on loan, irrespective of whether it's Kevin or anybody else. "Kevin's our player, we're glad he's doing well and he'll be back like every other player in the summer and then we'll take it from there."
