The officers had challenged the FIR and its proceedings which was initiated after clashes between the Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) and members of the Visthapit Apprentice Sangh. The court of Justice Ananda Sen after hearing the matter ordered a stay in the proceedings on June 10.
The Sangh had planned to stage a protest on April 4 agitating their claims for appointment in the steel company. The protest was conducted in front of the main administrative building of the steel plant.
The otherwise peaceful demonstration suddenly turned violent leading to clash between the CISF forces and demonstrators leading to the death of a protestor Prem Kumar Mahto.
Mahto's father then lodged a FIR against senior BSL employees in this regard which was challenged before the high court. He has alleged that on the orders of the top brass of the steel plant, the CISF personnel went on an offensive claiming the life of Prem Kumar Mahto.
Several other FIRs have also been filed due to skirmishes in other areas of the district.
The BSL senior management immediately held meetings with the disgruntled apprentices and announced a Rs 20 lakh compensation for the deceased's family, along with contractual employment for one member.
Injured persons will receive free treatment at BGH and 10,000 compensation, the management had decided.

ED attaches Rs 34.12 crore assets of actress Ranya Rao in gold smuggling, money laundering case

BENGALURU: The Headquarter Investigative Unit-II of Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in New Delhi has provisionally attached immovable properties of Rs 34.12 crore under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), in a case related to the transnational gold smuggling and laundering of its proceeds by the popular Kannada actress Harshavardini Ranya alias Ranya Rao and her associates. The ED has provisionally attached four properties of equivalent value belonging to Rao. These include a residential house in Victoria Layout, a residential plot in Arkavathi Layout, industrial land in Tumakuru, and agricultural land in Anekal Taluk, with a combined fair market value of Rs 34.12 crore. The attachment has been carried out to prevent concealment or alienation of the tainted assets and to secure the proceeds of crime. The investigation revealed that Rao, along with Tarun Konduru Raju and others, orchestrated an operation for smuggling gold into India. Gold was procured from suppliers based in Dubai, Uganda, and other countries, and payments were made through hawala channels in cash, thereby circumventing legal financial systems. False customs declarations were filed in Dubai, fraudulently declaring the destination of gold shipments as Switzerland or the USA, while the actual destination of the gold smugglers was India. Dual sets of travel documents were used, one for the declared export destination and the other for their actual arrival in India. It revealed that the smuggled gold was then sold within India in cash to jewellers and other local entities, and the proceeds were laundered through further hawala remittances abroad to finance repeat consignments for smuggling more gold into India. Further investigation is in progress to trace the remaining proceeds of crime. The probe began after a FIR registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation, following a complaint by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence.

Double Murder Witness Shot Dead In Delhi, Cops Suspect Gang War

Unidentified bike-borne gunmen shot dead their rival in the Najafgarh area of the national capital on Friday, police said. The deceased has been identified as Neeraj Tehlan, who was reportedly involved in several criminal cases in the past and was carrying a bounty of Rs 1 lakh on his head. He was also a key witness in the high-profile Najafgarh double murder case of February 2024. Tehlan was attacked around 7:15 PM on Friday while he was sitting inside a car. Two to three bike-borne assailants opened multiple rounds of fire at him before fleeing the scene, police said. The police suspect that the murder may have been orchestrated by gangster Harsh Dhanakad, alias Chintu, who was recently deported from abroad, and Sanjay alias Sanju Dahiya, a known criminal currently based overseas. Police have cordoned off the area and launched an investigation. CCTV footage from the vicinity is being reviewed to identify the attackers. Last week, gangster Kapil Sangwan's shooters murdered Deepak, the nephew of notorious Manjeet Mahal. Deepak's daughter was also shot at in the melee. Deepak was shot dead on June 27 in a planned attack during his morning walk in Delhi's Bawana area. Police sources say the crime was carried out with full preparation by unidentified assailants, who had been watching Deepak and his movements for the last four days. According to CCTV footage gathered during the investigation, the attackers had conducted a recce of Deepak's house and his daily routine. They found out that Deepak regularly went on a morning walk with his family. On June 27, two bike-borne attackers took advantage of the situation and fired around six bullets at him, killing him on the spot. The Delhi Police also suspect that the Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu gang might have orchestrated the murder of Deepak, believed to be operating from abroad, as part of a long-standing gang rivalry. Deepak, a 43-year-old trader with no criminal background, was shot dead during a morning walk with his daughter in Delhi's Bawana area After completing his BTech, Deepak got involved in trading and lived with his parents, wife and children in Nangal Thakran village of Bawana. Deepak used to go for a morning walk with his entire family on Bawana Road every morning. Even on June 27, during the attack, Deepak's parents were walking behind him, and Deepak was walking with his daughter at a distance when two attackers on a bike fired several rounds at Deepak, killing him on the spot. At the same time, a bullet hit Deepak's daughter and has been admitted to the hospital. According to sources, the two real sisters of gangster Manjit Mahal were married to Devendra and his younger brother Deepak. The long-standing feud between the two gangs had earlier claimed the life of property dealer Rajkumar Daral, a close associate of Manjit Mahal, who was gunned down in April in Paschim Vihar.
