Everything we know so far about Stranger Things Season 5
Not quite yet, though Netflix has released a teaser revealing all of the final season's episode titles, as well as a behind-the-scenes first look and a date announcement. Watch them in full below. Who is returning for Stranger Things Season 5?
Series regulars Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven), Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Noah Schnapp (Will), Natalia Dyer (Nancy), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan), Joe Keery (Steve), Maya Hawke (Robin), Winona Ryder (Joyce Byers), David Harbour (Jim Hopper), Priah Ferguson (Erica), and Brett Gelman (Murray) all survived the Season 4 finale and will be returning. There will, however, be some notable absences. Joseph Quinn's Hellfire Club captain Eddie, a new fan favorite, sadly perished after being attacked by a swarm of Demobats in Episode 9. Mason Dye's vengeful jock Jason Carver was also killed—his body ripped apart by an interdimensional gate in the Creel House—as was Matthew Modine's Dr. Martin Brenner, who was shot by a US army sniper.
Less certain? The fates of Paul Reiser's Dr. Sam Owens, who was last seen inside the Nina Project as it was attacked by the military; Jamie Campbell Bower's Vecna, who though temporarily defeated is believed to still be alive; and, of course, Sadie Sink's Max. In the season finale, Vecna's attack on the latter caused her heart to stop for over a minute and, even though Eleven was able to revive her, she was shown in a later scene to be in a coma. When Eleven then reached into her mind, she was unable to find her consciousness. While it's still unclear if Max will ever wake up, it's almost certain that Sink will make an appearance of some kind in Season 5. And as for new additions to the cast? Look out for none other than Linda Hamilton in a yet-to-be-disclosed role. 'I love the show so much,' the Terminator star and '80s icon says in the first-look segment. 'I really am a fan.' Also joining the ensemble are Nell Fisher, Alex Breaux and Jake Connelly. The fourth season ended with the battle between Vecna and the residents of Hawkins coming out into the open for the first time: his attack on Max allowed the gates to open and rip through the neighborhood, causing an earthquake that claimed many lives. As the Upside Down began to invade Hawkins, the camera cut to black. So, as it stands, the mission for Season 5 appears to be to kill Vecna once and for all, and save what remains of their hometown.
While further details are, understandably, being kept carefully under wraps, the Duffer brothers did speak about the project at a Netflix event on November 13, 2023. They described the final season as 'kind of a culmination of all the seasons, so it's got a little bit from each, whereas before, each season was so distinct—three is our big summer blockbuster season with our big monster; four was the psychological horror. I think that what we're trying to do [this time] is go back to the beginning a little bit, in sort of the tone of one. But also scale-wise, it's more aligned with what four is. So, hopefully, it's got a little bit of everything.'
They also added that, although the supernatural elements of the show will remain centre stage, character development will be equally crucial. 'We have so many characters now, most of whom are still living, and it's important to wrap up those arcs,' they said. 'A lot of these characters have been growing since Season 1, so it's a balancing act between giving them time to complete their arcs and also tying up loose ends and doing our final reveals.' It's set to be an emotional conclusion, too. 'We did [make] our executives cry, which I felt was a good sign,' they said of the meeting in which they pitched the complete arc to Netflix. The other morsel fans were given? The title of the first episode of Season 5: 'Chapter One: The Crawl.' Let the speculation begin. Atsushi Nishijima
Given that the Duffer brothers are currently in the early stages of writing the scripts for Season 5, it's unlikely that Stranger Things will be back on screens anytime soon. Back in July, David Harbour told GQ : 'I think we'll [shoot] next year. They're finishing writing it this year, and they need to prep and stuff. So it'd probably come out mid 2024, based on our track record.' That, for now, seems like the safest bet. When will Stranger Things Season 5 be released?
The fifth season will arrive in three drops—the first portion on November 26, the second part on Christmas Day, and the finale on New Year's Eve.

Everything we know so far about Daisy Edgar-Jones's Sense & Sensibility
Daisy Edgar-Jones will play the older sister, Elinor Dashwood, in the new Jane Austen adaptation. The story follows Elinor and Marianne Dashwood, two sisters who, upon the death of their father, find themselves suddenly destitute. Both then pursue love and financial security. When will Sense & Sensibility be released? There's no release date yet, but read on for everything we do know thus far. The details: It's Daisy Edgar-Jones's most high-profile big-screen project to date Yes, Twisters was big, but playing Elinor Dashwood, one of Jane Austen's most beloved heroines—previously brought to the big screen by double Oscar winner Emma Thompson, no less, who secured her second statuette for her adapted screenplay for Ang Lee's classic—somehow feels even bigger. The star of Normal People , Fresh , Under the Banner of Heaven , and Where the Crawdads Sing recently proved her acting chops on stage too, with her starring role as the ferocious Maggie in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof opposite Kingsley Ben-Adir's Brick, so we have no doubt that she'll soar. And as for her co-stars? Well, they have yet to be selected, meaning there is still much fan-casting fun to be had. If we remain within the Sally Rooney televisual universe, we could perhaps see Conversations with Friends and Saltburn 's Alison Oliver playing Elinor's more naïve younger sister Marianne, previously embodied by a rosy-cheeked Kate Winslet, and Paul Mescal as the handsome and dastardly John Willoughby, previously played by Greg Wise. And as for Hugh Grant's floppy-haired Edward Ferrars and Alan Rickman's solemn Colonel Brandon? We could, maybe, see the talented Johnny Flynn as the latter, while the likes of Josh O'Connor and Callum Turner could duke it out to play the former. (Helpfully, the trio are all Austen veterans thanks to Autumn de Wilde's 2020 take on Emma .) The possibilities are truly endless. It's the somber older sister to Pride & Prejudice If Pride & Prejudice is a fizzy glass of champagne, Sense & Sensibility feels like a cosy cup of tea—its mood is more serious, sedate, and contemplative. The plot centers on the three Dashwood sisters—the eldest and most sensible, Elinor; the more free-spirited Marianne; and the much younger Margaret—who are devastated by the passing of their father. Along with their mother, they're left with only a small inheritance, with their father's grand estate instead falling into the hands of their half brother. Cast out, they move to a modest cottage, and Elinor and Marianne are drawn to a swirl of suitors: the older Colonel Brandon, the dashing John Willoughby, and the kindly Edward Ferrars. It's still unclear how faithful this new film adaptation will be (Netflix's Carrie Cracknell-directed, Dakota Johnson-led Persuasion , for instance, was freewheeling, to say the least), but it seems likely that it will at least echo the gentle and melancholy spirit of its Ang Lee-helmed predecessor. The women-led behind-the-camera team is incredibly impressive Georgia Oakley, the lauded filmmaker behind the BAFTA-nominated breakout Blue Jean , will be in the director's chair, marking a splashy follow-up to her widely respected debut, while Diana Reid, the author of Love & Virtue , Seeing Other People , and Signs of Damage , will adapt the novel—a pairing that raises our expectations even further. It'll capitalize on our recent bout of Austen fever This year marks the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen's birth, as well as the 20th anniversary of Joe Wright's wonderful, sun-dappled, Keira Knightley-centered Pride & Prejudice , which was re-released in theaters to mark the occasion—and there's even a new, Netflix-produced adaptation of the latter on the way. Here's hoping this new Sense & Sensibility arrives at the same time as that Pride & Prejudice —that's a Barbenheimer-style double bill guaranteed to set the internet alight. What you need to know about the Saja Boys, Korea's grim reapers in K-pop form
July 4, 2025 SEOUL – When the Saja Boys appeared on screen for the first time, dressed in floor-length black hanbok and wide-brimmed hats casting shadows over pale, painted faces, Kang Chan-mi, a 32-year-old office worker in Seoul, immediately recognized the look. 'I knew instantly what they were,' she said. 'If you're Korean, it's almost impossible not to.' The Saja Boys, a fictional K-pop group from the new Netflix animated film 'K-pop Demon Hunters,' may appear to be just another stylish boy band debuting for a global audience. However, for many Korean viewers, their stagewear evokes something much older and far more haunting: the 'jeoseung saja,' or the traditional Korean Grim Reaper. The image is deeply familiar to Koreans. A pale-faced man, draped in black robes and wearing a gat, a traditional Korean hat made of horsehair and silk, has long signaled death in Korean storytelling. This isn't the first time the grim reaper's look has stepped into the limelight. Most recently, on the dance competition show 'World of Street Woman Fighter,' the Korean crew Bumsup built a performance around the figure, donning black shirts and 'gat,' a traditional hat, to evoke the jeoseung saja's chilling presence. In Korean television and film, grim reapers have often been reimagined as charismatic and charming figures. In the 2016 hit drama 'Guardian: The Lonely and Great God,' actor Lee Dong-wook played a modern version of the character, trading traditional robes and a gat for a tailored black suit and fedora. The styling was contemporary, but the symbolism remained intact. So, where did this image come from? Many trace it back to a June 1980 episode of the KBS series 'Legend of the Hometown' (unofficial title), a show known for its ghost stories. It was there that the jeoseung saja took on its now iconic appearance. 'We wanted to create a distinctly Korean image of death,' said Choi Sang-shik, a producer on the series, in a past interview. 'Since death is associated with darkness, we dressed the grim reaper in black robes and contrasted it with a pale face and jet-black lips.' But the grim reaper hasn't always looked this way. According to the Encyclopedia of Korean Culture by Kim Deok-mook, the jeoseung saja originally appeared in shamanistic rituals as a military officer, dressed in official armor. In many paintings from the Joseon era — including Gamjae Saja, which indicates one of the underworld messengers — he is depicted wearing bright red armor. He was also a figure to be feared, as his arrival marked the moment a soul was taken from the world of the living. Though he was a figure to be scared of, he was not treated with hostility. In traditional funerary rites, the reaper is regarded with solemn respect. 'Since the reaper also serves as a guide through the long and difficult journey to the afterlife, mistreating him could bring misfortune to the deceased,' Kim said. 'That's why families treat him with care during rituals.' Even the number of reapers varies between tradition and pop culture. In 'K-pop Demon Hunters,' there are five Saja Boys; in many Korean dramas and films, the jeoseung saja often appears alone, an isolated figure quietly escorting the dead. But in Korean shamanism, the number is typically three. According to Kim, in a traditional funerary ritual from Hwanghae Province, families prepare three bowls of rice, three pairs of straw shoes, and three sets of spoons and chopsticks. These offerings are meant to honor the three reapers guiding the soul from this world to the next. That belief has also made its way into modern storytelling. In the hit film 'Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds,' three grim reapers move together as a team. The group is led by a commander, played by Ha Jung-woo, with Joo Ji-hoon and Kim Hyang-gi portraying his companions.
