Shocking moment British tourist is attacked by crowd wielding makeshift weapons after getting into a fight with a taxi driver in Bali
Brandon Joseph, 30, reportedly assaulted Herlindo Emmanuel Nino, 31, at a car park in the Badung district of the holiday island in the early hours of Thursday.
The driver claimed he had tried to offer Joseph a ride after he got out of a white van and appeared 'confused'.
His offer was allegedly met with unprovoked violence, with Joseph reported to have punched him in the face.
The driver responded angrily, reportedly asking Joseph why he had hit him, when the tourist, 'without saying a word', allegedly landed another punch.
'The perpetrator hit the victim again on the lip until the victim's front teeth broke,' a spokesperson told Indonesian news outlet detikBali.
Footage shows Nino, seen in a red t-shirt with blood gushing down his face, standing by as a number of his fellow cabbies launched an attack on the Brit.
The video shows a shirtless Joseph - seen in black shorts - squaring off with the mob of locals, while another man is seen being beaten up amid the chaos.

The man, who is wearing beige trousers, appears to have his shirt ripped from him as he tries to escape.
After trying to take on some of the men, Joseph then ran and jumped in the van, which the villagers pelted with stones as they brandished planks of wood.
A voice was reportedly heard saying: 'Don't damage the car. Please don't damage my car, sir, this is my car. If there's a problem, it's with the guest.'
An injured Herlindo, seen in a red shirt in the clip, stood nearby nursing wounds on his face.
Police later arrived to control the furious crowd, and went on to arrest Joseph.
Police spokesman I Ketut Sukadi, spokesman said: 'There was an assault against an online taxi driver committed by a foreign national from the UK in the Savaya parking area.
The attack happened at 8.30am on Thursday.
The driver reportedly suffered several injuries and is said to have had his front teeth smashed in the scrap.
Pictures of Joseph outside the police station appear to show him with a bandage on his head.
AKP Agus Dharmayana, South Kuta police chief, said Brandon was taken to the Bali Jimbaran Hospital to calm down.
He was then be taken to the police station for interrogation.
Police said they were investigating the cause of the clash.
The British tourist had reportedly been staying in Canggu, an area popular with holidaymakers which is famous for its six-mile long beach.

Paea I Middlemore Tupou, 26, Mevlut Coskun, 23, and Darcy Francesco Jenson, 27, could face the firing squad if they're convicted over the deadly shooting. Zivan 'Stipe' Radmanovic, 35, was shot dead in front of his partner, Jazmyn Gourdeas, shortly after midnight on June 14 at a villa in Munggu, in Bali's south. The couple had been holidaying on the island to celebrate Ms Gourdeas's 30th birthday. A second Melbourne man staying at the villa, Sanar Ghanim, was seriously injured but survived. The Aussie trio were arrested following a five-day manhunt and have been in custody ever since. The suspects were relocated to Bali's notorious Kerobokan Prison last week following a re-enactment by local police. Escorted by heavily armed police and security guards, the masked men dubbed the Bali 3 were seen wearing balaclavas, orange prison shirts, and signs reading 'suspect 1', 'suspect 2' and 'suspect 3'. Handcuffed and wearing chains on their legs, the detained men were transported to several crime scenes in armoured vehicles, including the villa where the shooting allegedly took place. Police carried out the re-enactments to 'clarify each suspect's role in the incident, as part of the ongoing investigation.' 'After the reconstruction process ran smoothly and as planned, we handed over or detained the three suspects at Kerobokan Prison for further detention process,' Badung Police chief Arif Batubara said on Saturday. Police allege that Tupou and Coskun carried out the attack, which Jenson helped facilitate by providing getaway cars. During one of the re-enactments, Coskun told Seven News that he was 'not guilty' and that he would contest the allegations He also claimed that the prison conditions, before he was transferred to Kerobokan, were 'terrible'. Jenson's lawyer revealed that their client is concerned about the prospect of facing the death penalty. 'He is concerned that it might happen, that he might actually be sentenced to death,' Jupiter G. Lalwani told the Sydney Morning Herald. 'At the moment, he is just trying to co-operate as best he can.' It's understood that police will soon finalise their investigation and will then hand the case over to prosecutors and the courts. Formal charges are expected to be laid in the coming weeks. The trio face charges under Article 340 of Indonesia's criminal code for premeditated murder, as well as charges for illegal firearm possession under emergency laws. The maximum penalty for the charges is death. Kerobokan Prison has a long and complicated history of riots and other violence. Previous high-profile inmates include members of the Bali Bombers, Australian members of the Bali Nine and Schapelle Corby.

Aussie accused of bizarre carjacking in Bali in which two pedestrians were allegedly run down before car was set alight
An Australian has been arrested for allegedly stealing a car, hitting two people, and lighting the vehicle on fire in Bali, Indonesia. The man, identified by local police only as RJW, allegedly confronted a local who was parking his Toyota Avanza outside a hotel in Seminyak about 12.30am on Sunday. The Australian is alleged to have aggressively knocked on the car window outside the hotel, called Eden the Residence at the Sea, and forced the victim from his car. He then allegedly jumped inside the vehicle and drove away. The local man chased after the car with the help of a security guard. After the car sped away it struck two people on a nearby road because it was being driven dangerously, police said. The Balinese local used phone tracking software to trace a bag inside the car to a road 8km east of the hotel. He went to the location but could not find his car and alerted local police. Denpasar Fire Brigade then informed police a car had caught fire near a building on the same street. Police alleged the Australian set fire to the vehicle intentionally, with the flames also catching the home alight. No one was killed or harmed in the fire, which was extinguished by fire crews by about 5.30am. Footage from the scene showed the Avanza engulfed in flames tucked against the side of a building as flames burned an overhead awning. Firefighters from two trucks turned their hoses on the SUV and the building beside it. The car was completely destroyed in the fire, with the interior burnt away and the windows outwardly shattered in the blaze. The home suffered minor damage. The Australian was arrested and taken to North Kuta Police Station. The Toyota Avanza is estimated to have been worth just over $14,000. Denpasar Police spokesperson Ketut Sukadi confirmed the investigation is ongoing.

Indonesian President Prabowo pardons political opponents
JAKARTA, Aug 1 (Reuters) - Indonesia's President Prabowo Subianto pardoned two political rivals, a former trade minister and a senior politician from an opposition party a few weeks after both were sentenced to jail, officials said. Prabowo granted amnesty to Hasto Kristiyanto, the secretary general of parliament's largest party, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Law Minister Supratman Andi Agtas said late on Thursday in a news conference broadcast by local media, after meeting the House's deputy speaker. Hasto was sentenced to 3-1/2 years in prison last week for bribing an election official but the amnesty revokes his sentence though his conviction will still stand. The president also granted an abolition for Thomas Trikasih Lembong, a trade minister under President Joko Widodo who was sentenced to 3-1/2 years in prison for improperly granting sugar import permits, Supratman said in the news conference. The abolition means, Lembong, who was the campaign manager of Prabowo's rival candidate in last year's presidential election, is acquitted of the charges and his sentence. Prabowo granted the clemencies as the government sees the need to unite all political elements and as part of Indonesia's independence celebrations in August, said Supratman. "We need to build this nation together, with all the political elements ... And both have contributed to the republic," Supratman said. It is common for the Indonesian president to give pardons ahead of the national independence day on August 17. The amnesty for Hasto was among the pardons given to more than 1,100 other people, Supratman added. Lawyers for Hasto and Lembong did not immediately respond for Reuters' request for comments. Under Indonesian law, the president has the authority to give amnesty and abolition but it requires approval from the parliament, said Bivitri Susanti from Indonesia's Jentera School of Law. Still, she said the amnesty given to Hasto was rather "political" to gain support from the largest opposition party in the parliament while for Lembong, the government is responding to growing protests from the public over his sentence. Other observers were concerned the pardons undercut efforts by the judiciary to deal with corruption in a country where concerns about graft and government misconduct are high. "It shows that the government could intervene in law enforcement, make it as a political bargain," said Muhammad Isnur from rights group Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation.
