Indiramma housing scheme going off track in Wanaparthy?
Authorities claim they are taking steps to implement the scheme with transparency and modern technology so that only the truly poor can build homes under this programme. However, many people are expressing concern that the scheme is going off track and being diverted due to the greed for power among some local leaders, leaving the poor disappointed.
Leaders are frustrated, saying that those who already constructed and completed houses are not being allowed to build additional or lavish homes under the scheme. According to the government policy, houses must be built within an area of 400 to 600 square feet. While this rule was meant to curb corruption, it has sparked fierce competition among some people hoping to exploit the system.
Allegations have been raised by citizens and civil society groups that at the village level, Indiramma Committees are being influenced by greed and are misusing their authority. Instead of giving priority to the truly poor, they are granting approvals to those with property and income, neglecting the actual needy.
In some mandals within the constituency, construction has already begun after permissions were obtained. As a result, many feel the original goal of providing shelter to the poor and establishing the envisioned Indiramma Rajyam is being undermined.
In Budidipadu village of Pebbair mandal, locals expressed anguish that a schoolteacher's family secured a house in the name of the mother simply because their ration card was separate. Residents feel this is an abuse of the scheme. Many are urging the constituency-level leaders and officials to recognise the issue and ensure that the housing scheme is implemented strictly for the truly poor.
Sunkulamma from Budidipadu shared her distress, saying that after her hut was demolished with the assurance that her name was on the list, her name was later removed, leaving her homeless.

Cabinet to take a call on Ghose panel report today
Hyderabad: The state cabinet, which will meet here on Monday, will deliberate on the Justice PC Ghose Commission's report on alleged corruption and irregularities in the construction of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation (KLIS) project. Previously, the Telangana cabinet had decided to implement a 42% reservation for Backward Classes (BCs) in local body elections and admissions for native students in MBBS colleges. The Supreme Court is expected to hear arguments on Tuesday 5 regarding a government order prioritising Telangana natives in medical college admissions. The State cabinet will also address the implementation of the Rajiv Yuva Vikasam Scheme and matters concerning government employees, including a report submitted by a specifically constituted three-member committee. The finalisation of the Indiramma Housing scheme and allocation of houses across Telangana are also expected to be discussed. Meanwhile, the cabinet is likely to consider a new paddy procurement policy and measures for rehabilitation of families affected by the Musi rejuvenation project.

Telangana Government Aims to Empower One Crore Women as Crorepatis: Minister Vakkati Srihari
Gadwal: With the ambitious goal of transforming one crore women into crorepatis (millionaires), the Telangana State Government is taking concrete steps toward women's empowerment, said Vakkati Srihari, Minister for Animal Husbandry, Sports, and Youth Services. Speaking at a public event organized at a function hall near Alampur Crossroads on Thursday, the minister participated in the 'Indira Mahila Shakti' and Ration Card Distribution program alongside District Collector B.Y. Santosh and Alampur MLA Vijay. The event commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp. In his address, Minister Srihari emphasized the government's consistent commitment to women's welfare since the formation of the people's government in Telangana. 'Every welfare scheme is being implemented in the name of women, ensuring they are placed at the forefront of development,' he said. Highlighting several achievements, the Minister noted: Kalyana Lakshmi cheques, which were previously distributed annually, are now issued every three months. Interest-free loans worth ₹3.15 crore have been provided to 2,600 women's self-help groups. The government is constructing 3,500 Indiramma houses in the Alampur constituency at a cost of ₹175 crore, transcending party lines and ensuring corruption-free implementation. 200 units of free electricity per month are being provided for domestic use. Women are being empowered as entrepreneurs, becoming owners of petrol pumps and 1,000 buses, each earning ₹59,000 monthly income. Young India Integrated Schools are being built to prioritize education for future generations. Eligible citizens are being issued new ration cards, and the government is uniquely implementing the fine rice scheme in the country. Minister Srihari urged more women to join self-help groups and take advantage of the government's developmental schemes to enhance their economic status. He stressed that in just 18 months, the government has fulfilled six guarantees, one after another. The minister also stated that community halls are being established for various communities in the constituency, with a focus on the welfare of the poor, underprivileged, and backward sections of society. District Collector B.Y. Santosh echoed the Minister's sentiments, stating that the state government is taking strong steps toward women's economic empowerment through successful schemes like interest-free loans, employment generation programs, uniform stitching contracts, and paddy procurement centers. He noted that the government is investing ₹3 crore in solar power plants, petrol bunks, and bus ownership initiatives to generate steady income for women. He also announced: Approval of 3 new ration cards for Alampur constituency. 19,000 new names added to the ration card database. Urged beneficiaries to use the free fine rice responsibly and emphasized that schemes like Indiramma Housing, Rythu Bharosa, and free bus travel have been made accessible to all. The Collector encouraged women to make full use of these opportunities to advance their economic status. At the event: Cheques worth ₹30.58 crore under bank linkage loans were distributed to 2,041 women's groups. Interest-free loan cheques of ₹3.15 crore were issued to 2,600 women's groups. Insurance cheques totaling ₹13.89 lakh were handed over to the families of 23 deceased women SHG members. Orders for new ration cards were presented to the eligible beneficiaries. Additionally, as part of the National Animal Disease Control Program, vaccines for Blue Tongue disease were administered to sheep. Poor's blessings are behind Indiramma govt: Ponguleti
Nelakondapalli ( Khammam): The Indiramma government has been formed with the blessings of the poor, said Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy while addressing at a ration card distribution event held at the Agricultural Market Yard in Nelakondapalli on Wednesday. Criticising the previous government, the Minister said that not a single new ration card was issued in the last ten years, which caused hardships to millions of poor families. In contrast, the current government has added 16 lakh beneficiaries to the ration card system, he emphasized. Highlighting key welfare measures, he noted that fine rice is now being distributed, and bonus payments of Rs 500 per quintal is being given to farmers. The government has already waived Rs 21,000 crore in farm loans within ten months. Focusing on women's welfare, the Minister said that Rs 5,000 crore is being spent additionally for free bus travel for women. 'We aim to make one crore women millionaires,' he declared. Speaking about the Indiramma Housing scheme, he assured that funds are being credited to beneficiaries's accounts every Monday, and houses will be distributed in three phases. 'It is my responsibility to ensure every eligible family gets a house. I will stand with the poor like their elder son,' he said. The event was attended by Irrigation Development Corporation Chairman Muvva Vijay Babu, district Collector Anudeep Durishetty, and DCCB Director Tulluri Brahmaiah, among others.
