On Tuesday, the Collector, along with Gadwal MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy, participated in the 'Indira Mahila Shakti' and ration card distribution program organized by the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) at the Maldakal Mandal headquarters. Addressing the gathering, Collector Santosh stated that the state government is prioritizing women's economic empowerment through various schemes. He highlighted that over 600 women's self-help groups (SHGs) are actively functioning in Maldakal Mandal, with more than 8,000 women as members. He encouraged more women to join these groups to benefit from interest-free loans, livelihood opportunities, rice procurement centers, and uniform stitching units. The Collector noted that last year, SHGs in the mandal received loans totaling ₹26 crores, and this year, ₹72 lakhs in interest was waived. An additional ₹4.36 lakhs were sanctioned for uniform stitching initiatives. To further enhance livelihood opportunities for rural women, the government released an Enterprise Grounding Amount of ₹15.80 crores. He also announced plans to establish a petrol pump and a 1-megawatt solar power plant in the mandal with an investment of ₹3 crores, creating more income-generating avenues for women. The ration card distribution program saw over 900 new cards issued in Maldakal. The Collector assured that every application is being reviewed at the field level and that the concerned departments are working diligently to resolve issues. He urged beneficiaries to use their free ration responsibly and warned against diverting it to the black market. He added that schemes like Indiramma Housing, Rythu Bharosa, free bus travel for women, and solar power projects are being made accessible to all. He encouraged women to make full use of these programs for their progress. Gadwal MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy emphasized that the government is giving special priority to women's welfare by implementing a wide range of schemes. Through the Maha Lakshmi Scheme, women now benefit from free bus travel, increased Aarogyasri coverage up to ₹10 lakhs, subsidized LPG cylinders at ₹500, and 200 units of free electricity. He added that Indiramma houses are now being sanctioned in the names of women, and SHGs are being empowered to manage solar power plants, rental buses, petrol pumps, rice mills, and tailoring units. With a vision of turning one crore women into millionaires, the government is providing interest-free loans and multiple income avenues, he said. The MLA assured that every eligible person would receive a ration card and every poor family a house. He also reaffirmed the government's commitment to ongoing infrastructure improvements in Maldakal, including irrigation canals, drinking water facilities, roads, healthcare, and education. The event was attended by Additional Collectors Lakshmi Narayana and Narsinga Rao, local officials, women SHG members, community representatives, and residents.

Sanction letters issued to 2.37 lakh beneficiaries out of 3 lakh target under Indiramma Housing scheme: Telangana Revenue Minister

Telangana Government has issued sanction letters to 2.37 lakh beneficiaries out of three lakh targeted under the Indiramma Housing scheme so far. Of these, works on 1.03 lakh houses are grounded and were in different stages of construction, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said. The scheme envisaged sanction of 4.5 lakh houses, 3,500 in each constituency, under the Indiramma scheme this year involving ₹22,500 crore. The government completed identification of beneficiaries in 88 of the 98 constituencies — except for those in Greater Hyderabad limits — till April 23 and works were progressing at a brisk pace. Focus on eight districts The Minister wanted basement works of the sanctioned houses to be completed at the earliest in view of the onset of the monsoons and officials were directed to constantly monitor the progress of the works. He wanted the officials to focus more on Surypet, Peddapalli, Bhupalpally, Hanumakonda, Vikarabad, Siddipet, Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal districts as there was need for the officials in these districts to improve their performance. Sand free of cost The State Government decided to provide 40 tonne sand free of cost to each of the houses sanctioned under the scheme and officials at the field level should educate the beneficiaries to make use of the facility. Mr. Srinivas Reddy said that payments were being made to beneficiaries every Monday based on the progress of the works in spite of the financial constraints faced by the government. Steps were taken to credit the amounts into the accounts of beneficiaries directly, in four instalments so as to not give scope for involvement of middlemen. Accordingly, ₹1 lakh was being credited for houses where works were completed up to basement level, ₹1.25 lakh after construction of walls, ₹1.75 lakh following completion of slab and the balance after the completion of remaining works. ₹5 lakh for incomplete 2BHK houses Steps were also taken to ensure that eligible beneficiaries without lands were allotted the two bedroom houses which were not allotted to anyone. The government also decided to provide ₹5 lakh in respect of incomplete 2BHK houses enabling beneficiaries to complete the pending works. Officials were accordingly directed to focus on GHMC, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Mahbubnagar and Warangal districts where there were significant number of incomplete 2BHK houses.

Indiramma housing scheme going off track in Wanaparthy?

Wanaparthy: Seriousallegations of irregularities have surfaced in Wanaparthy regarding the Indiramma Housing scheme. While the scheme was designed to provide permanent housing to the poor, it appears to be getting derailed due to alleged local corruption and political manipulation. Authorities claim they are taking steps to implement the scheme with transparency and modern technology so that only the truly poor can build homes under this programme. However, many people are expressing concern that the scheme is going off track and being diverted due to the greed for power among some local leaders, leaving the poor disappointed. Leaders are frustrated, saying that those who already constructed and completed houses are not being allowed to build additional or lavish homes under the scheme. According to the government policy, houses must be built within an area of 400 to 600 square feet. While this rule was meant to curb corruption, it has sparked fierce competition among some people hoping to exploit the system. Allegations have been raised by citizens and civil society groups that at the village level, Indiramma Committees are being influenced by greed and are misusing their authority. Instead of giving priority to the truly poor, they are granting approvals to those with property and income, neglecting the actual needy. In some mandals within the constituency, construction has already begun after permissions were obtained. As a result, many feel the original goal of providing shelter to the poor and establishing the envisioned Indiramma Rajyam is being undermined. In Budidipadu village of Pebbair mandal, locals expressed anguish that a schoolteacher's family secured a house in the name of the mother simply because their ration card was separate. Residents feel this is an abuse of the scheme. Many are urging the constituency-level leaders and officials to recognise the issue and ensure that the housing scheme is implemented strictly for the truly poor. Sunkulamma from Budidipadu shared her distress, saying that after her hut was demolished with the assurance that her name was on the list, her name was later removed, leaving her homeless.
