While the road ahead appears far from rosy, IT companies – which depend on the US for a large part of their revenue – point to no material deterioration in the spending environment. The quarter ended June 30 looks slightly better than what was feared earlier. 'This quarter will not be as bad as March but not as good as January either. While there has not been a sharp cut in spending, growth in this environment is difficult to come by as clients are still cautious on spending. For largecap players, our growth estimate is at sub-2 per cent while at the bottom end it is about a negative 1.5 per cent, at worst, sequentially,' said a senior analyst at an international research firm. What are TDS, TCS and what is the difference between them?

If you are confused by personal finance terms, jargon and calculations, here's a series to simplify and deconstruct these for you. In the 57th part of this series, we explain the difference between two forms of indirect taxation. Tired of too many ads? Remove Ads What is TDS? Tired of too many ads? Remove Ads What is TCS? The government collects taxes in two ways: directly and indirectly. Tax deducted at source (TDS) and tax collected at source TCS ) are two forms of indirect tax collection. Here, tax is levied at the source of income or transaction if it exceeds a certain limit. Failure to deduct or collect this tax can lead to penalties and interest Here's how the two types of indirect taxes tax is deducted at the source of one's income. It is done by the person, organisation or employer making the payment, or providing salary or income. The person cutting the tax deposits it with the person who receives the income after deduction is called 'deductee', while the person cutting the tax is 'deductor'. The rate at which the tax is deducted varies for different income options, such as salary, rent, interest income, commission or brokerage, purchase of property, professional fees, instance, if you are paying a rent of Rs.60,000 a month, which exceeds the threshold of Rs.50,000, you will have to deduct tax at 10% before paying it to the landlord. So, you will deduct Rs.6,000 and pay Rs.54,000 to the landlord as tax is collected by the person selling certain goods or services, from the buyer, under Section 206C of the Income Tax Act, 1961. The seller then deposits this tax with the government. Some of these goods include liquor, forest produce, minerals, purchase of vehicles, foreign remittances, among others, and the rate varies depending on the goods or instance, if you are travelling abroad and the tour package is Rs.12 lakh, above the threshold of Rs.10 lakh, then the tour operator will collect 20% tax on the excess amount. Hence, you will pay a tax of Rs.40,000.

Water pipeline work damages newly built roads in Hubballi

1 2 3 Hubballi: Poorly coordinated infrastructure development has raised concerns among residents along the Gokul Road stretch. The L&T company's ongoing roadworks for the installation of water pipelines have created significant disruption on the newly built cement concrete roads. The road development project from NWKRTC depot to Keshavkunj and Indipump Circle was completed by spending crores under the Central Road Fund (CRF). Local residents expressed their frustration over the lack of integrated planning by the authorities. The digging work, reaching depths of three-and-a-half feet along one side of the road, could potentially compromise the structural integrity of the recently built concrete surface. Engineering experts suggest that such deep trenching adjacent to concrete roads might affect their longevity and stability. The timing of these utility works drew criticism from the public, as the roads were constructed under the CRF just four years ago. Community members argue that proper coordination between various departments could have prevented this situation. They suggest that pipeline installation should have been planned and executed before the road construction. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo The current scenario led to traffic congestion and safety concerns for both pedestrians and vehicles. Municipal authorities face mounting pressure to explain their decision-making process and provide assurance about the road's structural safety after the completion of utility works. Umesh Dushi, a social activist, said the situation highlights the need for better coordination between different civic agencies and comprehensive infrastructure planning. The incident serves as a reminder for authorities to adopt more integrated approaches in future urban development projects. Based on the information, L&T sought permission from the Hubballi Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) to dig up recently constructed Smart City Mission roads for water pipeline installation. Since HDMC has taken charge of all Smart City Mission initiatives, they are responsible for granting the necessary permissions. Hubballi-Dharwad Central MLA Mahesh Tenginkai expressed disappointment over the digging up of newly developed roads for installing pipelines. He assured that both L&T officials and municipal authorities will be instructed to promptly restore the roads after completing the pipeline work. He noted that for the previous two years, road construction was undertaken only after installing all utility infrastructure.
