1,400 potholes fixed in three days on A494 Mold bypass

An additional £25m fund, alongside support through the Local Government Borrowing Initiative, will deliver improvements to an additional 700km of roads by March 2026.

The programme is focused on roads in the greatest need of repair, with more than 200,000 potholes set to be fixed or prevented, and improvements made to pavements across the country.
The Welsh Government has invested £1bn fixing and improving roads across Wales since 2021.
Ken Skates, cabinet secretary for Transport and North Wales, visited the completed scheme in Mold to see the results of the investment first-hand.
He said: "It has been great to see such high-quality work delivered so quickly on this important route for North Wales. I would like to thank everyone who has played their part in helping us to deliver this project.
"Fixing our roads is a key priority for us and we're delivering on our promise to rebuild and maintain the infrastructure that communities across Wales rely on every day. This work doesn't just reduce the risk of damage to vehicles; it improves road safety and supports local economies by keeping people and goods moving."

North Lanarkshire Council's Driving Digital Locally Intergenerational Project received an impressive honour at the Municipal Journal Achievement Awards 2025. The project bridges the digital divide by offering older residents personalised, one-on-one training sessions with young people, teaching them about digital technology. It won the Transforming Lives category, sponsored by Roretti, at the UK-wide awards. Delivered over a four-week period, digital leaders from local primary schools partner with senior residents in the community. Residents and pupils engage in lively discussions about childhood memories and favourite songs. Then, using iPads, the pupils bring these stories to life, creating a vibrant and interactive learning environment. Ninety per cent of the residents who took part reported feeling confident using their new digital skills. They also said they learned much more from the young digital leaders because the atmosphere was fun and relaxed. Councillor Geraldine Woods, convener of the council's communities committee, said: "We are delighted to win this award. "It is recognition for the team's hard work and dedication, and a testament to their passion and perseverance in supporting our local communities. "Congratulations to everyone involved in this project."

There are set to be more than 15 mobile speed cameras active across Powys during July. Speeding is one of the largest contributing factors to collisions on Welsh roads, according to GoSafe - a partnership made up of authorities including the Welsh Government and Wales emergency services.
