Clash over Ambedkar songs at Dalit wedding procession in Mathura; 2 hurt
Police said the incident occurred between 6:30 and 7:30 pm in Dahrua village under Jamunapar police station limits.
According to the FIR filed by Devendra Kumar, cousin of the grooms Ram Kumar (22) and Saurabh Kumar (23), "In the wedding procession, the DJ was playing songs praising the Jatav community. Some members of the Thakur community objected to the songs and started pelting stones and hurling abuses."
The objection quickly escalated into a physical altercation, in which two people sustained minor injuries.
Local police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Jamunapar SHO Ajay Kishore said, "An FIR has been filed in connection with the matter under BNS sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 352 (assault or criminal force), 351(3) (criminal intimidation), 125 (endangering life or personal safety of others), and relevant provisions of the SC/ST Act against three people."
DSP Sandeep Singh of Mathura's Sadar area added, "I am investigating this case. Prima facie, we have found that the issue was with the DJ playing the songs, not with the people in the wedding procession. Two people have been detained for questioning and the probe is ongoing."

Vidasam demands recovery of ‘freehold land' from land grabbers and its return to Dalits
The 6 lakh acres of land in Visakhapatnam district, which was declared freehold in violation of G.O. No. 596, should be acquired and returned to the STs, and the reports of the two Special Investigation Teams (SITs), formed during the TDP and YSRCP governments, should be made public, demanded Vistrutha Dalita Sanghala Aikya Vedika (Vidasam) State convener Busi Venkata Rao. A protest was organised by Dalit organisations at the Gandhi statue, near GVMC, on Monday (July 07). Addressing the gathering, Mr. Venkata Rao alleged that some political leaders had grabbed around 6 lakh acres of assigned lands in the district, by taking undue advantage of G.O. issued by the previous government on assigned lands. This was confirmed by the Cabinet Sub Committee. He warned that the kingpins behind the assigned land scam were trying to join the present coalition government and trying to influence the government to legalise the lands grabbed by them. He alleged that the land grabbers had got their names included after removing the names of the original landholders and converting the land into 'freehold'. He alleged that some influential persons in the present government were advising that only registration fee should be collected from the 'land grabbers'. He demanded that the government should acquire the freehold lands and reallocate them to the Dalits. He also sought amendment of the G.O. to ensure that purchase and sale of these lands should be allowed only between those belonging to one community. Dalit leader Omkar, who presided over the meeting, criticised the coalition government for failing to initiate any action on the police officials, who had beaten three youths with lathis on the road, in full public view. Another leader T. Srirama Murthy alleged that not even a case was filed by the police when a Dalit area was ostracised by the villagers in Mallam village in Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan's constituency. Dalit leaders K. Chinna Rao, Thantadi Kiran Kumar, Kothapalli Venkata Ramana, Bagam Gopala, Maturu Srinivasa Rao, Sodadasi Sudhakar and D. Nirmala were among those who participated.

‘Covert mechanism to suppress rivals' — In Andhra Pradesh, Jagan's party accuses Naidu's TDP of ‘orchestrating' attack on Dalit sarpanch
An attack on a YSR Congress Party sarpanch in Guntur district's Ponnur has kicked up a political storm in Andhra Pradesh, with leaders of the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led outfit accusing the ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) of orchestrating the attack. At a press conference he held Monday, former minister and YSRCP Guntur District President Ambati Rambabu accused Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's party of 'orchestrating a systematic deterioration of law and order in the state targeting YSRCP leaders and workers at the grassroots level'. He was referring to the attack on Mannava village's Dalit sarpanch B Nagamalleswar Rao allegedly by some TDP workers last week. Rao was at a roadside tea stall on July 3 when he was allegedly attacked by two men carrying iron pipes. He is currently stated to be in the ICU. 'It is a covert mechanism involving retired IPS officers loyal to him, executing a master plan to suppress political rivals. This shadowy network identifies opposition members at the police station level, leading to orchestrated attacks, atrocities, illegal arrests, and false cases. The latest of such attacks is the brutal assault on Mannava village sarpanch B Nagamalleswara Rao, who is now fighting for his life due to an attack instigated by a local TDP MLA,' Rambabu said. Meanwhile, former YSRCP minister Perni Venkataramaiah accused Naidu of 'manipulating all institutions with police being mute spectators'. 'The brazen attack on Dalit sarpanch B Nagamalleswar Rao of Mannava village in Guntur district shows the lawlessness in the state and the video going viral shows the gravity of the situation. Nagamalleswar Rao has been with YSRCP and did not yield to the enticements and threats by the local TDP MLA Ponnur MLA Dhulipalla Narendra. With his presence being a hindrance, the attack was carried out. The video shows the heinous way the attack was carried out,' Venkataramaiah said. The Ponnur MLA has denied the allegation, claiming it was the fallout of a personal dispute. TDP spokesperson A Venkata Ramana Reddy too has similarly brushed off the accusations. The YSRCP has also claimed it was worried about potential attacks on the offices of Sakshi media, which the family of former chief minister Jagan owns. Some petrol bombs and stones were allegedly hurled at Sakhi's Eluru office last month, causing damage to furniture and property.
