2025 Arizona Cardinals training camp roster preview: TE Josiah Deguara

We will preview every player on the Cardinals roster leading up to training camp. This is about TE Josiah Deguara. The Arizona Cardinals report to training camp on July 22 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team. Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2024, questions they face and their roster outlook. This focuses on tight end Josiah Deguara. Josiah Deguara background, 2024 season Deguara enters his sixth NFL season and first with the Cardinals. He was drafted om the third round in 2020 by the Green Bay Packers out of Cincinnati. He spent four seasons with the Packers, having his most productive season in 2021 when he had 25 receptions for 245 yards and two touchdowns. After four seasons with Green Bay, he played last season for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He played 87 offensive snaps in 15 games, catching three passes for 14 yards. His offensive playing time has declined every years since 2021, but he has turned into a core special teams player, logging at least 200 special teams snaps for three straight seasons. Josiah Deguara 2025 contract details, cap hit Deguara signed a one-year vet-minimum deal for 2025 for $1.17 million. It is a qualifying veteran contract, so the cap hit will count only $1.03 million. There were no guarantees, not even a signing bonus, in the contract. Questions he faces, roster outlook Deguara is an intriguing option for the tight end room because of his work on special teams. Will that be enough for him to make the roster? He is at best a player on the roster bubble, but his situation is interesting. It would appear that the top three tight ends are set in Trey McBride, Elijah Higgins and Tip Reiman. Deguara could be TE4, but the Cardinals only keep three active on game days, so his value on special teams would be negated. The battle between him and Travis Vokolek will be interesting to watch. 2025 Arizona Cardinals training camp roster preview: TE Travis Vokolek

We will preview every player on the Cardinals roster leading up to training camp. This is about TE Travis Vokolek. This focuses on tight end Travis Vokolek. Travis Vokolek background, 2024 season Vokolek enters his third NFL season and third with the Cardinals. He entered the league originally in 2023 as a rookie free agent out of Nebraska, signing with the Baltimore Ravens. He did not make the 53-man roster out of training camp but was signed to their practice squad. In December, he was signed by the Cardinals to their active roster and appeared in two games. He spent the offseason with the team and made the 53-man roster out of training camp as the team's fourth tight end. He was inactive as a healthy scratch for 16 of the Cardinals' 17 games last season. He appeared in one game, logging 12 offensive snaps and two on special teams in Week 4 against the Washington Commanders. He did not log any statistics. Travis Vokolek 2025 contract details, cap hit He is signed through the 2025 season and will make $1.03 million in salary, the league minimum for a player in his third season. That amount will be his cap hit. He will be an exclusive rights free agent after the season. Questions he faces, roster outlook The Cardinals clearly see something Vokolek, keeping him on the active roster for all of the 2024 season, but he was clearly the No. 4 tight end behind Trey McBride, Elijah Higgins and Tip Reiman. The question he faces is whether he has done enough or can do enough in camp to lock in that spot or perhaps do more. He is no lock for the roster, but certainly should be the favorite to be TE4 again. Whether that is enough to sustain a spot on the 53-man roster remains to be seen. He is on the roster bubble. 2025 NFC West center rankings: Cardinals' Hjalte Froholdt leads the way

The Cardinals have the best center in the division in Hjalte Froholdt entering 2025. We are in the final stretch of the NFL offseason as the Arizona Cardinals open training camp on July 22. Leading up to then, as we have for several offseasons, go through the players and position groups in the NFC West and rank them. Next up, we look at the centers for the Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks and rank them. 1. Hjalte Froholdt, Arizona Cardinals Froholdt, entering his third season as the Cardinals' starting center, has been one of the most underrated finds for general manager Monti Ossenfort. PFF has him as a top-10 center in the NFL. He is in his prime and enters the first year of the two-year extension he agreed to last year. 2. Jake Brendel, San Francisco 49ers Brendel has been solid for the 49ers, but he will turn 33 years old in Week 2. At one point, he was the best center in the division. Now he is still pretty solid. 3. Coleman Shelton, Los Angeles Rams Shelton is back with the Rams as their starting center after letting him go last year. He is a capable starter but the Rams were good with replacing him, only to find he was the better option. This will be his fourth year as an NFL starter. Little known fact is that he spent time on the Cardinals' practice squad in 2018. 4. Olu Oluwatimi, Seattle Seahawks Oluwatimi struggled last year, getting thrust into the starting lineup as a rookie after offseason addition Connor Williams abruptly decided to retire. He hasn't proven yet he is a capable starter in the league. As a second-year player, he still can prove it.
