Former Chicago Sky guard Allie Quigley officially retires after three-year hiatus
After a three-year hiatus from the WNBA, 3-point shooting star Allie Quigley made her retirement official in The Players Tribune Tuesday.
She last played for the Chicago Sky in 2022, what will now go down as the guard's 14th and final season in the W.

"I just took the 2023 season off … then I took the 2024 season off … then I took the 2025 season off….. you get the idea," Quigley wrote. "But all jokes aside, I never actually meant to do an Irish goodbye."
Quigley played for the Sky from 2013-22 and became a four-time 3-point shootout champion, three-time All-Star and two-time Sixth Woman of the Year along the way. The former DePaul standout also helped Chicago win its first-ever WNBA championship in 2021, alongside Kahleah Copper, Candace Parker and her wife Courtney Vandersloot. Following that season, Quigley considered riding off into the sunset.
"But after thinking about it a little more, I realized I actually wanted to savor the end of my career," Quigley wrote in The Players Tribune. "I wanted the experience of walking into each arena and knowing it might be the last time I'd ever play there. And I wanted the experience of trying to defend our championship that we worked so hard for, for so long. So that's what I did. I didn't tell a lot of people, but I played in 2022 thinking it would probably be my last season. I really, truly soaked it all in."

In 2022, her hometown Sky posted a 26-10 record, and Quigley averaged 11.4 points per game while still shooting 42.8% from the field. But Chicago bowed out in the WNBA semifinals to the Connecticut Sun.

Even then, though, Quigley didn't officially retire.
Quigley shifted her focus to motherhood, initially thinking that she'd have a child and then leave the door open to play one more season.
Quigley wrote in The Players Tribune Tuesday that it took her longer to get pregnant than she first expected. She eventually gave birth to her and Vandersloot's daughter Jana Christine in April this year. It was then that she was ready to finally say goodbye to the WNBA.
Before finding her place in the league with the Sky, Quigley went from one WNBA team to the next, spending time in Phoenix, Indiana, San Antonio and Seattle.
Quigley averaged 10.9 points per game during her career, plus shot a blistering 39.4% from deep. She was the Sky's all-time leading scorer until last month when who else but Vandersloot surpassed her on that list. Vandersloot, however, suffered a season-ending ACL tear over the weekend.

Since you've watched the Philadelphia Eagles all your life, those of you who also love the college game have probably kept one eye on the Big Ten. One of the most significant talking points we've heard all offseason is the number of players lost from the defensive roster. Frankly, that take seems overstated. One of those weapons is rookie Ty Robinson, the aforementioned 'Vanilla Gorilla'. Gosh, it's easy to fall in love with that nickname, and it's easy to love what Tim McManus said about him. Tim is ESPN's Eagles insider, and he recently participated in an NFC East roundtable. Once the topic turned to each team's most underrated move, Robinson earned his shout-out. "Drafting DT Ty Robinson in the fourth round (was Philly's most underrated move). With minimal contact during OTA and minicamp practices, the offseason program isn't exactly conducive to properly evaluating linemen. But that hasn't stopped some of his new teammates from speaking highly of the Nebraska product. "That boy is fire, I ain't going to lie," DT Jalen Carter said. "He's moving good. He's a big boy. ... I think he's going to have a big impact this season." Robinson's NCAA career ended with 134 tackles, including 27 for loss. He also racked up a dozen sacks and 12 pass breakups. He earned Third-team All-Big Ten honors in his swan song with the Cornhuskers last season. This next part, however, is the best part of the story. Rhule gave him a single-digit jersey number, an honor reserved for the tough players on his team who have earned his respect. Ladies and gentlemen, we all loved Milton Williams and are sorry he's gone, but Ty Robinson isn't going to settle into this defense just fine.

Mike Green is one of 30 second-round picks from the 2025 NFL draft still unsigned, and Adam Schefter reports guaranteed money could be the holdup. The 2025 NFL draft concluded over six days ago, and while most of the first-round picks and late-round picks have signed, the thirty-second-round picks are still unsigned, with less than a month to go before training camps kick off around the league. Baltimore selected All-American pass rusher Mike Green with pick No. 59, and Adam Schefter reports that the former Texas star and 29 other second-round picks are haggling over guaranteed money on the standard four-year deal. First-round picks usually have guaranteed four-year deals with a potential fifth-year option, but up until this past April, fully guaranteed contracts weren't the norm for second-round picks. That all changed when the Texans gave Jayden Higgins, the 34th overall pick, the first fully guaranteed contract ever for a second-round pick on May 8. On May 9, the Browns followed suit, offering Carson Schwesinger, the 33rd overall pick in the second round, a fully guaranteed contract as well. Schefter reports that since then, no second-round picks have signed. NFL teams have no problem colluding against guaranteed contracts, and Green could miss time entering training camp if a deal isn't reached. It's a touchy scenario for Baltimore, which had an urgent need for more explosion at the edge rusher position, so they landed the draft's most talented but questionable prospect. Last season, as a redshirt sophomore, Green led the FBS in sacks (17.0), tackles for loss (22.5), sack yardage (144), and tackles by a defensive lineman (84). His 17 sacks established a new Sun Belt Conference record.

The game was an odd one, as thunderstorms in Georgia caused the lights at the Gateway Center Arena to go out briefly, resulting in an eight-minute delay. Collier played more than 40 minutes in the game, something of a concern for a player coping with back problems. After the win, Collier was asked about how she plans to deal with the back problem over the remainder of the season. "I think just making sure I'm activating before the games and practices, making sure that my core is tight," she said. "That's always the thing with back injuries, making sure you have a tight core.
