Eagles rookie Ty Robinson receives another positive endorsement
The buzz keeps building as an Eagles rookie earns more praise from the media.
This is probably a safe guess. Since you've watched the Philadelphia Eagles all your life, those of you who also love the college game have probably kept one eye on the Big Ten. These days, that's certainly harder than ever as it's now two schools short of becoming 'The Big 20'.
Even with all of that being said, your Pennsylvania affiliations more than likely kept you from watching a ton of Nebraska football. Tom Osborne left a long time ago, and if we're being honest, most Eagles fans lost track of Matt Rhule after Philadelphia beat his Carolina Panthers in Week 5 of the 2021 season.
The 2025 NFL Draft brought about some changes. Philadelphia drafted a Nebraska Cornhusker in Round 4, and though discipline tells us not to put too much stock in a rookie until he has played meaningful snaps, it's hard not to be excited. This guy's nickname is the 'Vanilla Gorilla' for Heaven's sake.
ESPN's Tim McManus names Ty Robinson's selection as the Eagles' most underrated move
They say offense sells tickets, and defense wins championships.
One of the most significant talking points we've heard all offseason is the number of players lost from the defensive roster. Frankly, that take seems overstated.
One of those weapons is rookie Ty Robinson, the aforementioned 'Vanilla Gorilla'. Gosh, it's easy to fall in love with that nickname, and it's easy to love what Tim McManus said about him.
Tim is ESPN's Eagles insider, and he recently participated in an NFC East roundtable. Once the topic turned to each team's most underrated move, Robinson earned his shout-out.
"Drafting DT Ty Robinson in the fourth round (was Philly's most underrated move). With minimal contact during OTA and minicamp practices, the offseason program isn't exactly conducive to properly evaluating linemen. But that hasn't stopped some of his new teammates from speaking highly of the Nebraska product. "That boy is fire, I ain't going to lie," DT Jalen Carter said. "He's moving good. He's a big boy. ... I think he's going to have a big impact this season."
Robinson's NCAA career ended with 134 tackles, including 27 for loss. He also racked up a dozen sacks and 12 pass breakups. He earned Third-team All-Big Ten honors in his swan song with the Cornhuskers last season.
This next part, however, is the best part of the story. Rhule gave him a single-digit jersey number, an honor reserved for the tough players on his team who have earned his respect. Ladies and gentlemen, we all loved Milton Williams and are sorry he's gone, but Ty Robinson isn't going to settle into this defense just fine.

Dave Parker, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2013 and died at age 74, won two batting titles and two World Series during his career. Dave Parker, the two-time World Series winner and two-time batting champion whose dangerous exploits at the plate earned him the nickname Cobra, died Saturday after a long battle with Parkinson's disease, just one month before he was to be inducted into baseball's Hall of Fame. Parker, 74, was an imposing left-handed hitting threat on two power-packed championship teams, the 1979 'We Are Family' Pirates and the 1989 'Bash Brother' Oakland Athletics. He hit 339 home runs and won National League batting titles in 1977 (.338) and 1978 (.334) for the Pirates. Parker never earned more than 24.5% support in 15 years of Hall of Fame voting by the Baseball Writers' Association of America, well short of the 75% required. But he was named on 14 of 16 ballots in December voting by the Classic Baseball Era Committee and will be elected alongside fellow Pennsylvania legend Dick Allen next month. 'I've been holding this speech in for 15 years,' Parker told MLB Network that night. Parker left such an impact that he's a member of both the Pirates' and Cincinnati Reds' halls of fame. He was the 1978 NL MVP, when he led the majors in both batting average (.334) and OPS (.979), slammed 30 homers and earned an NL-best 7.0 WAR. One year later, Parker banged out 193 hits and 20 home runs and, alongside Willie 'Pops' Stargell, helped lead the Pirates to their first World Series title since 1960. Parker had a dominant postseason performance, getting four hits in 12 at-bats of an NL Championship Series sweep of the Reds, and was 10-for-29 (.345) and drove in four runs in the Pirates epic seven-game triumph over the Baltimore Orioles. Parker left Pittsburgh for Cincinnati after the 1983 season but was still in his prime. He led the NL with 42 doubles and 125 RBIs in 1985 and earned All-Star nods in two of his four seasons with Cincinnati. In 1989, he was the oldest player on a brash, power-hitting Oakland A's team that featured beefed-up sluggers Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire. Parker hit 22 homers as the A's primary DH as he added a second championship to his portfolio. He made his seventh and final All-Star team one year later with Milwaukee.

NFL analyst's simple reason for projecting Patriots as top-five improved defense
ESPN analyst Marcus Spears believes the New England Patriots will have one of the top-five most improved defenses for the 2025 season. When asked to share his top-five most improved defenses, Spears had the Patriots ranked at No. 2 behind the Denver Broncos. He believes Mike Vrabel being named the new head coach is one of the biggest reasons why the Patriots will experience a significant turnaround in the 2025 season. 'Mike Vrabel is bringing back that old 'don't walk in here and think you aren't going to get your eye punched out.' … I love the mentality," Spears said on NFL Live, via ESPN's Mike Reiss. The Patriots have done more than enough to cause Spears and others to be bullish on them heading into the 2025 season. They've improved at every level defensively. They boosted the defensive front by signing defensive tackle Milton Williams and drafting Florida State rookie Joshua Farmer. At the middle level, they brought in veterans Robert Spillane and Jack Gibbens at linebacker, while signing K'Lavon Chaisson on the edge and drafting rookie Bradyn Swinson. In the defensive backfield, they signed standout veteran cornerback Carlton Davis III to play opposite of All-Pro corner Christian Gonzalez. The unit looks significantly better than it did last season, at least on paper. All of the pieces are there for the Patriots to field one of the best defensive units in the league this year.
