Heavy rain likely for 3 days in Noida, sticky spell set to end

Noida: Parts of the city saw very light rain on Saturday, but hot and humid conditions made the outdoors uncomfortable. Relief, however, is expected on Sunday as the India Meteorological Department has issued a 'yellow' alert for light to moderate rain along with thunderstorms and lightning.
"Light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms or lightning is likely to occur over Delhi during the next three days. However, intense rain activity may happen on Sunday," said an IMD official. The official added that the maximum temperature is likely to dip to remain around 34-36 degrees Celsius on Sunday and minimum between 26°C and 28°C. Breeze, gusting up to 15 kmph, is also expected to bring some throughout the day.
On Saturday, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 35°C and a minimum of 27.2°C, slightly higher than Friday's 34.4°Celsius and 27°C. However, due to high humidity, the heat index or 'feels like' temperature was higher.

The city recorded 7mm of rainfall until 8.30 am and 'trace' rainfall in the evening, but high humidity level of 89% made it an uncomfortable day.
In Delhi, Safdarjung, which is the city's base station, logged 1.8 mm of rainfall from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm on Saturday.
During the same duration, Palam recorded 2.6 mm, Mayur Vihar 0.5 mm, Rajghat 0.1 mm and Lodhi Road saw 'trace' rainfall. In July so far, the Delhi logged 4.1 mm of rainfall as against the entire month's normal of 209.7 mm.
According to the IMD, similar weather is expected on Monday, with cloudy skies and chances of light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. The temperatures are likely to range between 32°C and 34°C for the maximum and 24°C to 26°C for the minimum.
The wind pattern will continue to shift, starting from the northwest in the morning at less than 15 kmph, dropping to below 10 kmph from the west in the afternoon.
The southwest monsoon reached Delhi-NCR on June 29 this year, arriving two days later than the usual onset date of June 27.
Air quality, meanwhile, continued to remain in the 'satisfactory' category at 77 on the day in both Noida and Ghaziabad. In Greater Noida, the AQI was recorded at 95 (satisfactory).
According to the Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi, which is the forecasting body under the Union ministry of earth sciences, the air quality is expected to remain in the 'satisfactory' category for the next few days.
