
57 circles in Marathwada get heavy rain exceeding 65mm
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The monsoon has returned to half of the Marathwada region, with 57 revenue circles across Nanded, Hingoli, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Jalna districts experiencing heavy rainfall — exceeding 64.5mm in the 24 hours leading up to 10am on Thursday.

Nanded district bore the brunt of the downpour, recording an average of 60 mm of rain and widespread showers across 39 revenue circles. Mahur (157mm) and Wanola (141mm) circles in Mahur taluka, along with Daheli (148mm) in Kinwat taluka, also received very heavy rainfall (115.6mm-204.4mm).
Hingoli district also saw significant rainfall, averaging 48mm, with 10 revenue circles reporting heavy precipitation. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (26 mm) and Jalna (24 mm) recorded heavy rainfall in five and three revenue circles, respectively.
While Parbhani (22 mm) received some rain, the monsoon is yet to revive in the other three districts of Marathwada — Latur (4 mm), Beed (1 mm), and Dharashiv (0.3 mm).
As per India Meteorological Department (IMD), light to moderate rainfall is likely in different parts of Marathwada on Friday and Saturday. A yellow alert, indicating chances of thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy winds along with rainfall, has been issued for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Jalna districts.
K K Dakhore, an agricultural meteorologist with Parbhani-based Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Agricultural University, said revival of the monsoon in parts of Marathwada would lead to conducive conditions for the kharif crops.
