Lyon ultras call for John Textor to leave the club
In the wake of the confirmation of Olympique Lyonnais' relegation to Ligue 2, the club's main ultras group, the Bad Gones, have called on owner John Textor to leave the club.
Textor's stock among the Lyon fans has taken a big hit in recent times. He had endeared himself to them through his open war with Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, however, the club's spiralling financial issues saw them turn on the American.

Their dissatisfaction was audible during Lyon's match against AS Monaco on the penultimate day of the season as they booed Textor as he walked in front of them, before deploying an unsavoury banner that made a crude play on words involving Eagle Football's floating on the stock exchange and Al-Khelaifi's testicles.
However, Textor's popularity is now at rock bottom after the DNCG confirmed Les Gones' relegation to Ligue 2 following Tuesday's meeting. The club will appeal. However, for OL's largest ultras group, the Bad Gones, there is no coming back for Textor.
In a letter and X post addressed to the owner, the Bad Gones said, 'The end of the season was difficult for the club but also for our relationship. We think that we struggle to understand each other, to understand where the club is going, what your vision of it is, and we think that you, like us, have created a common distrust.'

It continued: 'John has never been and never will be the man for the situation. This Botafogo supporter should now leave the Lyon landscape. We call on the numerous creditors to take back control and give the keys back to someone who will be able to respect the institution.'
The Bad Gones concluded by saying 'Textor out'. On Wednesday morning, banners with that slogan have appeared across the city.

Chelsea agree fee for Dortmund winger Gittens
Chelsea have agreed an undisclosed fee to sign Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund as they edge closer to completing his transfer. The 20-year-old winger, who agreed a seven-year contract with Chelsea earlier in June, is now set to have a medical. Advertisement Dortmund previously rejected a £42m offer for the Englishman on 10 June with the German Bundesliga side known to be holding out for £60m. Gittens was outlined as Chelsea's primary target to replace Jadon Sancho after he returned to Manchester United following his loan spell, which cost the Blues a £5m penalty fee. Mykhailo Mudryk also remains provisionally suspended after being charged by the Football Association with violating its anti-doping rules after failing a drugs test. Gittens would be unable to play in the ongoing Club World Cup because he has appeared in it for Dortmund. He would be Chelsea's fourth summer signing, joining striker Liam Delap, midfielder Dario Essugo and defender Mamadou Sarr, with midfielder Andrey Santos also returning from his loan spell at Strasbourg. Advertisement Estevao Willian, 18, will also join Chelsea after his Club World Cup campaign with Palmeiras. Chelsea will next target a versatile forward with Brighton's Joao Pedro among those on the list. Brighton rejected two bids from Premier League clubs for the Brazil international, with Newcastle one of those believed to be interested. Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike and West Ham's Mohammed Kudus are other forwards admired by Chelsea, while they have not ruled out signing an additional defender.

Jarell Quansah's Bayer Leverkusen medical set for Monday
Fabrizio Romano reports that Jarell Quansah's long awaited move to Bayer Leverkusen should be completed early next week. The 22-year-old is due in Leverkusen for a medical on Monday. Quansah will then be officially unveiled by his new Bundesliga club. The news on the scheduled medical isn't particularly surprising. It remained common knowledge that Quansah would head to Westphalia after the conclusion of England's participation in the UEFA U21 Euros. Quansah and the English U21s are set to face the German U21s in the Final this evening. Advertisement Regarding the final package that has been negotiated, Romano sticks to his originally quoted figures of a €35 base-transfer-fee plus €6m in performance-related add ons. Romano does have some new news to report on Liverpool's rumored buyback clause. Per the Italian transfer expert, the Premier League champions can re-capture Quansah for a fee of around €70m. If Quansah meets certain performance metrics, however, he can cost the Reds upwards of €82m. GGFN | Peter Weis

Bayern Munich to help Liverpool strike MOMENTOUS Alexander Isak deal
Liverpool have spent close to £200m so far during this transfer window. Landmark arrivals include Florian Wirtz in a deal potentially worth £116m as well as Milos Kerkez (£45m) and Jeremie Frimpong (£29.5m). It now appears the Reds will enter a phase of selling - before later committing to other transfers further down the line. The club have got ambitions to add a new centre-forward and could probably use a new centre-back given the scale of uncertainty in the position. Advertisement Before that, outgoings are required. Alexander Isak is thought to be the first-pick at No9. Newcastle woud like to sign him to a new contract but this deal doesn't appear as improbable as it once did. The Swede would certainly be attracted by the bright lights of Anfield but Richard Hughes and Arne Slot will have to come up with a fee of over £100m as well as a sizeable wage packet. Bayern frustrated in winger chase In order to do so, they could opt to offload one or more of their current forward options. It looks like Dominik Szoboszlai is set to stay in the lineup, meaning Wirtz reverting to a left-sided starting role. Advertisement If the 22-year-old plays from the left then there will be no need for both Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz. One could be sold and Bayern Munich are now reported to be interested in both. The Bavarians had ambitions of adding Nico Williams as a replacement for Leroy Sane but it looks like he could be off to Barcelona if they can get a deal done with Athletic Club. And Christian Falk has told Caught Offside that the German champions have Gakpo and Diaz in line as a backup option. Bayern want Diaz AND Gakpo 'Max Eberl should already be looking for alternative candidates for the wing. Liverpool's Cody Gakpo, for example, could be back on the radar,' he said. Advertisement 'The player is said to be a personal favourite of Eberl. 'After initial talks with the Gakpo side, there has been no contact with the agents recently. That could now quickly change again. Teammate Luis Diaz also remains a candidate.' © IMAGO Bayern can help Liverpool land Isak Diaz is out of contract in 2027 - and could be sold this summer in order to avoid losing him for a diminished fee. Gakpo is two years younger and under contract for a year longer - and would fetch a higher price in the market. With Diaz being valued by the club at around €80m, it means Gakpo could be in the bracket higher than that - potentially up to €100m. Should Liverpool achieve a sale of Gakpo in that category then it would radically boost their chances of signing Isak further on in the window.
