Jack Eichel bashes Sabres after Maple Leafs' Mitch Marner joins Golden Knights
That's how the Vegas Golden Knights' incumbent star felt when he saw Mitch Marner leave the Toronto Maple Leafs in a sign-and-trade to become his teammate.
Eichel related the situation to when he left the Buffalo Sabres for Vegas.

"I can relate, to a point, to some of the things he's going through," Eichel told The Hockey News.
Eichel's situation in Buffalo wasn't exactly the same, of course.
The Sabres weren't a playoff team, while the Maple Leafs of Marner were a Stanley Cup contender for the first time in a while.
Eichel was pursuing a winning situation. Marner appeared to be in search of something else.

Regardless of the logic, though, the reality is this: Two of the NHL's best forwards are now teammates.
Eichel, a center, and Marner, a star two-way winger, hope to combine to lead the Golden Knights back to the Cup.

Meanwhile, the Sabres still haven't made the playoffs since Eichel left (and since before him, too).

All-Pro Bears CB Jaylon Johnson will miss 'a few weeks' with leg injury, per GM Ryan Poles
Chicago Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson will miss multiple weeks of training camp, at least, with a leg injury sustained during the offseason. General manager Ryan Poles addressed the All-Pro's status on Tuesday, days after the team placed Johnson on the non-football injury list. Poles declined to go into detail about the injury. But it will sideline Johnson for "a few weeks." "When he was training he had a leg injury," Poles said, per Bears beat reporter Cassie Carlson. ... "Going to take a few weeks before he can come back." Johnson, 26, has made the Pro Bowl after each of the last two seasons and was a second-team All-Pro in 2023. He's in integral part of Chicago's defense. The nature of the injury and when and how he sustained it are not clear. Poles made the announcement from the start of Bears training camp.
