We will preview every player on the Cardinals roster leading up to training camp. This is about QB Clayton Tune. The Arizona Cardinals report to training camp on July 22 and begin the process of preparing for the regular season, forming the roster and determining starting jobs and roles on the team. Leading up to the start of camp, we will take a look at every player on the offseason roster, their background, their contract, their play in 2024, questions they face and their roster outlook. This focuses on quarterback Clayton Tune. Clayton Tune background, 2024 season Tune enters his third NFL season. He was drafted in the fifth round in 2023 out of Houston. He has been the Cardinals' backup quarterback for two seasons. He had one start in 2023 preceding Kyler Murray's return from his ACL injury. Last year, the Cardinals traded for Desmond Ridder but Tune beat him out for the backup job in training camp and the preseason. Last season, he appeared in six games, playing 31 snaps. He mostly entered games for kneeldowns or quarterback sneaks. He completed his only two pass attempts for eight yards and had minus-four yards on seven rushing attempts, although he did pick up two first downs. Clayton Tune 2025 contract details, cap hit Tune will make $1.03 million in salary in 2025 if he makes the active roster. He will count $1.12 million against the salary cap. Questions he faces, roster outlook Tune find himself is a tough situation in 2025. The Cardinals signed veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett to a two-year contract this offseason with his 2025 salary fully guaranteed. Brissett will be Kyler Murray's backup. Also, in two seasons under head coach Jonathan Gannon, the Cardinals have never carried more than two quarterbacks on the 53-man roster, so Tune will have to show extraordinary growth to make the roster. He is currently a longshot to make the team but is probably a lock for the practice squad, considering how Gannon has spoken about Tune. There's no time like the present, and for the Buffalo Bills, 2025 is the year when the franchise finally breaks through and wins its first-ever Super Bowl. Advertisement Or at least, that's the general opinion. With a roster that has MVP Josh Allen leading the offense, and the defense under Sean McDermott getting an overhaul with several key free agents like Joey Bosa, Larry Ogunjobi, and Michael Hoecht, along with a collection of draft talent (first five selections on defense), the Bills are loaded. Of course, we've heard this before, and the Bills meet the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs, and their season ends. But this year is different. This is the year when the Bills have to win it all. And Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer thinks so, too. "Super Bowl or bust, it's hard not to say that, " Breer said. "Is this the best team that Josh Allen's played on? He's obviously at the peak of his powers. The schedule's favorable, I don't know how you would look at this and not say they should have home-field through the playoffs. Based on what the other teams are dealing with, the top contenders in the AFC are dealing with, they should be the No. 1 seed in the AFC." Given that Allen is in his prime, has solid weapons (not great, but last year proved he doesn't need great pieces), James Cook at running back, Dalton Kincaid at tight end, and an offensive line that protected him as well as they could have last year, allowing just 14 sacks, offensively, the Bills are Super Bowl-caliber. But defensively is where many think Buffalo has an issue. Will all the new faces be able to mesh and come through when it counts? The unit struggled last year, as it was unable to get off the field on crucial downs and also failed to consistently get after the quarterback. Advertisement If the defense can improve, and Allen keeps the offensive standards at least the same, Buffalo has every tool needed to claim home-field advantage in the playoffs and win the Super Bowl. We've said that before, but it's officially gut-check time in Buffalo.
