ANTAandKyrie Irvingare set to release theKAI 1Chief Hélà 'CROWN JEWEL,' a performance-driven sneaker that blends cultural storytelling with technical innovation.Arriving in a regal midnight purple, the upper draws inspiration from ceremonial amethyst beads worn by tribal chiefs, symbolizing spiritual leadership and power. Tassel detailing along the heel evokes the flowing motion of traditional garments, while a crown chakra motif on the tongue reflects Kyrie's personal philosophy of mental clarity and mastery. First previewed by WNBA star Brittney Sykes during the 2025 All-Star Game, the sneaker is both a tribute to Irving's ancestral heritage and a bold evolution of the KAI series.
Functionally, this new silhouette is built for elite performance, featuring a textured gum outsole for traction and stability and a lightweight structure designed for quick cuts and responsive movement. The translucent earth-toned sole grounds the silhouette in ritual and sport, reinforcing the sneaker's dual identity as both cultural artifact and athletic tool.

Indiana Fever's Sophie Cunningham makes blunt social media post following incident at Golden State Valkyrie-Chicago Sky game

This past week, the WNBA made headlines for all the wrong reasons. Twice, a green dildo was thrown onto the court during Golden State Valkyries games, halting play and creating chaos mid-game. Indiana's Sophie Cunningham posted bluntly on social media: 'stop throwing dildos on the court… you're going to hurt one of us.' The first incident occurred on July 29 during a tight matchup between the Valkyries and Atlanta Dream. With the game tied at 75‑75 in the final minute, a fan tossed a neon-green sex toy onto the floor, prompting an abrupt stoppage before officials removed the item and resumed play. The Valkyries went on to win 77‑75, but the moment quickly went viral. Then, just days later, on August 1, it happened again. During a game between the Valkyries and the Chicago Sky, another green dildo was thrown near the basket in the third quarter, once again stopping the action as referees and staff scrambled to clear the floor. This also could be recoil from fans as a whole about the "pay us what you owe us" campaign, saying you don't deserve squat, just not put as nicely. The WNBA is sometimes more of a reality TV show than a competitive, entertaining sport, and this just adds to that perception.

Angel Reese jokingly blames teammate of Caitlin Clark, Sophie Cunningham for sex toy fiasco: 'Getting weird'

A sex toy plague has hit the WNBA, as two games this week - both Golden State Valkyries road games - had a neon green dildo thrown on the court. On Friday night, a matchup between the Valkyries and the Sky in Chicago was interrupted in the third quarter when the object flew across the court. The officials stopped the game to remove the lime green adult toy, and play continued. Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham pleaded with the culprits to "stop throwing dildos on the court," but Angel Reese placed the blame - jokingly - on one of Cunningham's, and Caitlin Clark's, teammates. "hey [Sydney Colson] why do you keep throwing your mean green in different arenas…. it's getting weird," Reese posted on X late Friday night. Colson replied with a photo of herself smirking - while wearing a green jacket. Reese and Colson have had playful banter before. After Reese was part of the championship-winning Unrivaled league team, she got a $50,000 bonus. That prompted Colson to crack a joke about Reese giving her the money. "Hey angel girl, just wanted to check in and see how ur doing and just let u know I'm here for u if u need anything…esp if u need to get rid of 50k by tomorrow or anything like that…" Colson wrote to Reese on social media. Colson was declined. "hey sista. i'm doing well. just won 50k on a flight. I know you are VERY aware & i'm sorry to break it to you but i'm on a rookie contract & that 50k was a little more than half of my contract so I have to keep that to myself…. sorry :( give me a few years and i gotchu. be well," Reese replied. It's unclear whether anyone was ejected from the game for throwing the object.
