During a Facebook live on Tuesday, Pradyot reiterated his position, stating he would prefer to leave the ruling alliance rather than retain power if the Tiprasa accord, signed in April 2023 before the general election, was not implemented. He noted that initial discussions with the Centre were positive, but progress stalled thereafter. "It has been 18 months, we are waiting, and I feel this is high time for a forward movement in this direction," Pradyot said.
He said his party would soon launch a helpline number to facilitate action against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, whom he identified as the biggest threat to Tripura's indigenous communities. "I have instructed the leaders of my party to have the helpline circulated among the people on short notice. We can't let Bangladeshis enter our territory as if we allow them today, tomorrow they will use the resources that are meant for our children," Pradyot said.
He added that the initiative aims to expedite information gathering on Bangladeshi nationals, emphasising that no one should take the law into their own hands.
"We are waiting for the implementation of the Tiprasa accord. We entered into the ruling alliance only because we had been promised that the accord would be implemented. If I am unable to deliver what I promised to my people, then I have no right to enjoy power. I already had a word with the ministers who represent my party and the majority of the MLAs," he said.

No alliance at the top, but Congress, AAP discuss strategy ahead of Goa assembly session

Even though Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal has announced that there would be no alliance with the Congress, local leaders of the two parties have come together to coordinate the opposition's strategy ahead of the monsoon session of the Goa assembly. The session will be held from July 21 to August 8. Congress and AAP MLAs attended a meeting called by Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao on July 15, while the leaders of other opposition parties including the Goa Forward Party and Revolutionary Goans Party remained absent. "I convened a meeting with the opposition MLAs, including AAP MLAs Venzy Viegas and Cruz Silva, and Congress's Carlos Alvares Ferreira and Altone D'Costa," Mr. Alemao said in a statement. The purpose was to draw up the opposition's strategy, he said. "The discussion was productive, with valuable inputs from MLAs Venzy Viegas, Carlos, Altone and Cruz on how to hold the BJP government accountable," said Mr. Alemao who belongs to the Congress. "We are united in our determination to protect Goa from the corrupt BJP government's clutches," he added. Congress MLAs have submitted over 750 Legislative Assembly Questions (LAQs) for the session, Mr. Alemao said. AAP Goa president Amit Palekar said to attend the meeting was the decision of the legislative wing of his party. The AAP and Congress have decided to demand accountability from the BJP government on the floor of the House, he said, adding that a collective strategy was decided for the sake of the people of Goa. In a joint statement issued on Tuesday (July 15, 2025), AAP MLAs Viegas and Silva said, "United we stand for Goa's justice. For meaningful change in the assembly, AAP and opposition parties must align their political and legislative wings. Common political discipline and collective action should happen."

'Kaan Khol Ke Sun Lo...': Mamata Threatens EC, BJP Over Bengali Harassment, Voter Roll ‘Conspiracy'

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has launched a fierce dual-front attack, accusing the BJP-led Centre of harassing Bengali-speaking citizens across India and charging the Election Commission with acting under political influence. Leading a massive monsoon protest in central Kolkata, Banerjee warned that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Bengal's voter rolls ahead of the 2026 Assembly polls is a 'dangerous conspiracy' to delete genuine voters, especially Bengali-speaking Muslims and the poor. The TMC chief alleged that Bengalis are being profiled and detained in BJP-ruled states and called the Centre's silence 'shameful.' She further claimed that the BJP's goal is to manipulate Bengal's voter rolls, as seen in other states like Bihar and Maharashtra. 'I respect the EC, but if they become BJP's agent, we will fight,' Mamata said, reigniting her famous call: Khela Hobey, round two begins.#mamataBanerjee #tmc #bjp #electioncommission #bjptmcclash #bengalpolitics #bengaliharrassment #voterrolls #khelahobey2026 #tmcprotest #eccontroversy #ecvoter list #voterlistcontroversy #banglabhasha #bjpcontroversy #tmcvsbjp #toi #toibharat #bharat #trending #breakingnews #indianews Read More
