Mötley Crüe Returns With A ‘New' Hit Single — One Released 40 Years Ago
'Smokin' in the Boys Room' debuts on a pair of U.K. rankings this week. On the Official Physical Singles chart, the track starts off at No. 45, just below the top 40 threshold that often defines a hit. It performs far worse on the broader Official Singles Sales list, which includes all kinds of individual purchases, not just physical formats. There, 'Smokin' in the Boys Room' barely sneaks in, starting at No. 97.
'Smokin' in the Boys Room' was originally released in 1985 as a single from the album Theatre of Pain. The full-length helped the band further establish itself as a powerful force in the rock world, and the single became one of its earliest hits. The cut reached No. 16 on the Hot 100 in America, giving Mötley Crüe its first top 40 smash on that all-important tally.
But the band didn't actually write the track. It's a cover of a song by Brownsville Station, which dropped its version more than a decade before Mötley Crüe's take arrived.
This week's resurgence takes place thanks to a picture disc released specifically for Record Store Day 2025. The A-side features the original 'Smokin' in the Boys Room,' while the B-side includes a remix of 'Home Sweet Home.' The vinyl single sold well enough for the title to become a bestseller for the first time in the U.K. on rankings that didn't exist when the cover was new.
With 'Smokin' in the Boys Room' now on the Official Physical Singles chart, Mötley Crüe reaches a special milestone. The track marks the group's tenth placement on that particular ranking. It also stands as one of only a handful of appearances the band has earned on the Official Singles Sales roster, which is typically harder to crack, as it's more competitive. So far, the group has landed six hits on that latter list.
This week also brings another one of Mötley Crüe's tunes to the charts in the U.K. 'Dogs of War,' one of the band's latest releases, reenters the Official Physical Singles roster at No. 60. The cut has now spent 11 weeks on the tally and previously peaked at No. 7, marking it as one of the group's more successful efforts on this list.

INDIO, CALIFORNIA - APRIL 19: (EDITORS NOTE: Image has been processed using digital filters.) Blackpink perform at Sahara Tent during the 2019 Coachella Valley Music And Arts Festival on April 19, 2019 in Indio, California. (Photo byfor Coachella) Blackpink fans have waited years for the band to reunite and release new music, and their patience has finally paid off. The K-pop girl group recently delivered 'Jump,' its first new single in years, which seems to be the beginning of a complete era. While big things were expected from the track, the tune still manages to impress. 'Jump' easily cracks the top 40 on the Hot 100 upon its arrival, earning the K-pop favorites not just another placement on Billboard's most competitive songs tally, but a milestone hit — one that places the four musicians in rare company. 'Jump' Reaches the Hot 100's Top 40 'Jump' launches at No. 28 on the Hot 100 this week. The tune likely would have opened in a loftier position had it not arrived during such a busy frame. Several songs from Justin Bieber's surprise new album Swag open ahead of Blackpink, but this is just the beginning for 'Jump' on the chart. Blackpink Hits the Hot 100 for the Tenth Time Blackpink earns its milestone tenth appearance on the Hot 100 as 'Jump' launches. The group is only the second K-pop act in U.S. history to collect double-digit placements on the songs ranking, following BTS, which managed the feat some time ago. The South Korean boy band has scored 27 smashes throughout the years. Sixth Top 40 Hit for Blackpink 'Jump' becomes Blackpink's sixth top 40 hit on the Hot 100. The group — made up of singers Rosé, Jisoo, Jennie, and Lisa — previously climbed as high as No. 13 with 'Ice Cream,' a collaboration with Selena Gomez, which dropped in September 2020. That cut remains the band's highest-charting release to date. The newly-released 'Jump' now ranks as Blackpink's fourth-highest-peaking cut on the chart, trailing 'Ice Cream,' 'Pink Venom,' and 'Shut Down,' which peaked at Nos. 13, 22, and 25, respectively. Blackpink Outpaces J-Hope With More Hot 100 Hits Blackpink claims the second-most Hot 100 hits among all K-pop artists. The group is now two wins ahead of BTS star J-Hope, who has reached the list eight times as a soloist. Three of the four singers in Blackpink — Jennie, Lisa, and Rosé — have also earned multiple smashes on their own. 'Jump' Debuts on Nine Billboard Charts Blackpink launches 'Jump' on nine Billboard charts this week, and its starting position on the Hot 100 is among its lowest. The tune scores a top five debut on almost every other ranking, and the electronic dance single even conquers both of the company's global lists and one sales-specific tally.

Benson Boone Joins Dua Lipa In A Historic Feat
Benson Boone's 'Beautiful Things' ties Dua Lipa's 'Levitating' with 77 weeks on the Hot 100, as ... More Teddy Swims' 'Lose Control' becomes the first track to hit 100 weeks. (Photo by Nina Westervelt/Billboard via Getty Images) A month into its run on the Billboard charts, Benson Boone's sophomore album American Heart continues its gentle descent. In its fourth frame on the Billboard 200, the project slides from No. 21 to No. 27. Two singles from the full-length — 'Mystical Magical' and 'Sorry, I'm Here for Someone Else' — also experience modest dips on the Hot 100, though both remain inside the top 40. Boone's biggest hit at the moment, is, as has been the case for months, 'Beautiful Things.' The track that turned the singer into a superstar in early 2024 continues to make history with every frame it holds on. 'Beautiful Things' Ties Dua Lipa's 'Levitating' 'Beautiful Things' has now lived on the Hot 100 for 77 frames. In just one more week, it will become one of only a handful of songs to spend a year and a half on Billboard's ranking of the most popular tracks in the United States. 'Beautiful Things' is now tied with 'Levitating' by Dua Lipa as the third-longest-charting track by a solo musician in American history. Lipa's catchy pop cut spent about half of its time on the tally as a solo effort, while the rest of its weeks included rapper DaBaby. His credit was later removed after fans and radio stations changed their favor to the solo version. Teddy Swims Sets a New Record With 'Lose Control' 'Lose Control' by Teddy Swims still stands the longest-running hit of all time, and this week marks a particularly special milestone for the soulful cut. The Grammy nominee's breakout hit becomes the first song ever to reach 100 weeks on the Hot 100. That figure puts the track well ahead of every other tune, and it's likely to continue building on that total. The Weeknd's 'Blinding Lights' tallied 90 stays on the roster, placing it in second among all compositions by solo artists. Benson Boone Passes Jason Mraz Last frame, Boone matched Jason Mraz, whose single 'I'm Yours' spent 76 weeks on the Hot 100 between 2008 and 2009. That tune now ranks as the fifth-longest-charting track by a solo act in U.S. history, just behind Boone and Lipa. Several other songs credited to groups have also managed slightly longer stays on the Hot 100 compared to 'Beautiful Things.' 'Heat Waves' by Glass Animals, 'Radioactive' by Imagine Dragons, and 'Sail' by Awolnation held on for 91, 87, and 79 weeks, respectively. In the coming weeks, Boone could match and then pass Awolnation, though he still has a long journey ahead if he hopes to best the runs managed by Imagine Dragons or The Weeknd.

(Photo by Dave Sandford/NHLI via Getty Images) Justin Bieber's surprise album Swag might not debut at No. 1 on several Billboard rankings the pop star was hoping to conquer, but that doesn't mean the project isn't successful. The surprise release opens in the runner-up spot on the Billboard 200, coming in behind JackBoys 2, the latest full-length from Travis Scott and his group JackBoys. While Swag's starting position might be slightly disappointing for Bieber, the collection produces more than a dozen new hits on the Hot 100. As the Canadian singer-songwriter ups his career total, he joins some elite company and passes one of the most successful R&B artists of all time. 16 New Hot 100 Hits 16 of the 21 tracks featured on Swag debut on the Hot 100 this week. None of the tunes were released ahead of the album's arrival, and some weren't eligible as they were either too short or spoken word interludes. With 16 new hits to his credit, Bieber lifts his career count to 121 Hot 100 smashes. Justin Bieber Passes Chris Brown Thanks to this influx of new wins, Bieber jumps into the top 10 on the list of artists with the most Hot 100 hits. He narrowly edges past Chris Brown, who currently claims 119 appearances, though these figures are known to shift regularly, and the R&B powerhouse could snag new placements on the tally at any point. Justin Bieber and Travis Scott Advance Together At the same time Bieber increases his career total, Travis Scott does the same. Several cuts featured on JackBoys 2 debut on the Hot 100, giving Scott a total of 131 career appearances. He now sits in ninth place among all acts. Drake leads all musicians with 359 Hot 100 entries, followed by Taylor Swift with 264 and Future with 224. 'Daises' Almost Debuts at No. 1 'Daisies' is the biggest hit from Swag, and it nearly brought Bieber back to the summit of the Hot 100. The tune, which has been selected as the lead single from the album, launches in the runner-up position on the tally, coming in behind only 'Ordinary,' Alex Warren's breakout smash. Seven of the 16 songs from Swag that appear on the Hot 100 this week debut inside the top 40. Several musicians join Bieber with his roundup of just-shared tunes, including Sexyy Red, Gunna and newcomer Eddie Benjamin, among others.
