Florida in a Fight With Two SEC Powerhouses For Five-Star TE

One of the top recruits in the 2026 class has announced his top three schools and when he will announce his decision. Five-star tight end Kaiden Prothro has confirmed he will announce his commitment on July 12 between the Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, and Texas Longhorns.

Prothro is a blue-chip talent who dropped the Auburn Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide from consideration. He is ranked the No. 29 overall player in the class, according to On3 Industry Rankings. They also have him as the No. 4 player in Georgia and the No. 2 tight end behind USC Trojans commit Mark Bowman.

The Bowdon High School prospect has taken official visits to all three schools over the last month. He could take some unofficial ones before his commitment date, but nothing has been announced as yet.
A few hours after his announcement, On3 recruiting pair Steve Wiltfong and Chad Simmons logged expert predictions for the Bulldogs to land Prothro. It's no surprise to see, given that he's a Georgia native and Kirby Smart and his staff are known for developing tight ends. However, there is still plenty of time for Florida and Texas to make a push before he announces his decision.

Billy Napier and his staff have been on fire with the 2026 class over the last month, moving into the top 15 of On3's Team Recruiting Rankings. The Gators are now at No. 14 thanks to a whopping 11 commits in June, six of them four-star players. Seven of those were in-state pick-ups as they look to win the battle against the Florida State Seminoles and Miami Hurricanes.

WNBA rookie Paige Bueckers says media 'tries to isolate' in response to past comments about Black women
Dallas Wings rookie sensation Paige Bueckers addressed comments she made in 2021 about using her platform to "celebrate Black women" during a podcast interview Friday. In an appearance on the "Nilosophy" podcast, Bueckers was asked about her comments at the 2021 ESPYS, when she said, "I think we should use this power together to also celebrate Black women" while discussing the impact of sports media. Bueckers responded to the question, expressing gratitude to the media while also claiming it "tries to isolate." "I just feel like … the media is great. It's their jobs to make headlines and get people to click in, tap in," Bueckers said. "Rivalries are great. It gets people talking about our game. They cover our game, and they give attention to your game. "So, you've gotta be grateful for them. But a lot of it too is, they're trying to isolate you. And, for me, it was like, it's so easy to make everything about yourself. The media gives you a drink, and are you going to drink it or are you going to share it with others?" Bueckers added that she also aims to give credit to God too. "Nobody does anything by themselves and so, like spreading, obviously, my faith is really important to me. So, using my platform to glorify God has been huge, and then just spreading light on others. I think it's, like I said, it's I don't want to make anything about myself," Bueckers said. In May, after the Wings made Bueckers the first overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, Bueckers spoke out again about the issue of coverage of Black women in the league. "It's still an issue, every single day," she told Time magazine. "There's not ever equal coverage." "There's White privilege every single day that I see," she said of marketing opportunities. "I feel like I've worked extremely hard, blessed by God. But I do think there's more opportunities for me. I feel like even just marketability, people tend to favor White people — White males, White women. I think it should be equal opportunity. I feel like there is privilege to what I have and to what all White people have. I recognize that. I want to counteract that with the way I go about my business." Gittens set for Chelsea move after Moukoko also leaves Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund's Jamie Gittens celebrates his side's first goal of the game during the German Bundesliga soccer match between Borussia Moenchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund at Borussia-Park stadium. Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has dismissed speculation that he met with Bayern Munich board member for sports Max Eberl over a potential sale of Dortmund forward Jamie Gittens to the Bundesliga champions. Federico Gambarini/dpa Winger Jamie Gittens is set to join Chelsea after an agreement in principle has been reached with his current club Borussia Dortmund. The Bundesliga side confirmed the news on Saturday at their Club World Cup camp in Florida. Advertisement Gittens, 23, was already on his way to tournament quarters of Chelsea, who were playing a last 16 match against Benfica later in the day in Charlotte, North Carolina. Chelsea had initially aimed to sign Gittens before the start of the Club World Cup but reportedly did not meet Dortmund's demand of an estimated €65 million ($76 million). The fee the clubs have now agreed upon was not given by Dortmund. Gittens, who did not feature for Dortmund in the US due to illness, is reportedly to receive a contract until 2032 at the Blues. Dortmund had earlier Saturday announced the sale of forward Youssoufa Moukoko to Copenhagen for a reported €5 million. Advertisement "It's not easy to say goodbye to a club like Dortmund, because this club, my team-mates, coaches and the great fans will always mean a lot to me," Moukoko said. Moukoko joined Dortmund's academy at age 11. In 2020, at the age of 16, he became the youngest player to play a Bundesliga game and score a league goal. Last season, he played at Nice on loan. "Unfortunately, his development has recently stalled. I'm sure everyone involved would have liked it to be different," sporting director Sebastian Kehl said.
