Himachal deputy CM launches digital systems to modernise HRTC operations
These include an online travel pass system enabling school and college students, govt employees, and traders to apply online for concessional passes, pay fees digitally, and receive radio frequency identification (RFID)-based smart cards. A digital bus inspection scheduling system was also introduced to improve monitoring of staff performance and ensure timely checks, with schedules now being transmitted via mobile SMS.
A global positioning system (GPS)-based bus tracking system was initiated for 82 buses in Shimla, which would later be extended to the entire fleet of HRTC buses to ensure better real-time monitoring. A new platform, 'Him Access HRTC system' was also launched, allowing over 9,000 employees to access their personal and salary details online.
Agnihotri said that to strengthen infrastructure, it was decided that Rs 7 crore would be spent on the repair and maintenance of various bus stands across the state, along with the installation of CCTV cameras at all bus terminals for public safety.

A modern bus stand facility would also be constructed at Mandi Bharari in Bilaspur district to cater to increasing commuter traffic. Directions were also issued to speed up the process of setting up e-charging stations at workshops and bus stands to support the arrival of electric buses in the state fleet.
Approval was also given for the launch of a new scheme, 'Him Bus Plus', which integrates identity management with cashless payments.
Under this scheme, commuters would receive a 5% discount on fares for all HRTC buses, including Volvo services, he added. A loyalty programme would also provide cashback benefits based on monthly travel. To attract more passengers, the fare of super luxury buses would be reduced by 15%, allowing cardholders to avail up to a 20% discount along with loyalty rewards.
Agnihotri stated that to attract more tourists and increase revenue, 'Tourist Day Circuits' would be introduced, connecting major religious and tourist spots around Shimla. Approval was also given to new revenue measures such as implementing an advertisement policy on HRTC tickets, website, and app, and piloting the operation of retail fuel outlets at two to three locations using HRTC's own fuel pumps. A dhaba policy would also be put in place to empanel eateries along bus routes with a focus on hygiene and commuter convenience, he added.

Industries and PWD ministers to meet Chakan MIDC stakeholders over poor roads, traffic woes
Pune: Industries minister Uday Samant and public works department (PWD) minister Shivendraraje Bhosale will on Wednesday meet public representatives and officials from various govt agencies to discuss the issues related to the deteriorating road condition and traffic congestion in the areas surrounding Chakan MIDC. The meeting is scheduled to take place at 12.30pm in Mumbai and will also cover long-pending proposals, including road widening and development of elevated roads in the region. The meeting comes in response to appeals from MIDC employees and local residents, who raised concerns over daily traffic chaos on connecting roads and highlighted the worsening state of Talegaon-Shikrapur Road. They demanded urgent intervention from state govt, especially after chief minister Devendra Fadnavis recently held a meeting to address similar issues in Hinjewadi IT Park. Dhiraj Mukte, a Chakan resident, said the agencies responsible for the road's upkeep failed to carry out timely repairs before the monsoon. "The road is now riddled with potholes that collect mud and water, leading to frequent accidents," he said. Bhosari BJP MLA Mahesh Landge, who has been invited to the upcoming meeting, said, "Instead of just extending the support, I am actively pursuing these issues with govt. Just as steps are being taken to resolve the issues in the IT park, we will also work to address the challenges faced by industries in Chakan MIDC." One of the key roads in the region, the Nashik-Pune highway, which falls under the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), connects MIDC to various parts of Pune. Thousands of employees commuting daily via this route face traffic jams. The meeting will also discuss the development of the proposed Nashik Phata-Rajgurunagar elevated corridor, which is expected to be implemented by NHAI and ease the traffic on the highway.

NMC Resumes Demolition Drive for Ramji Pehalwan Rd Widening After Over a Decade
1 2 Nagpur: After over a decade of delays, the long-pending Ramji Pehalwan road widening project in the Mahal area has finally picked up pace, with the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) resuming demolition of properties from Tuesday. Proposed in 2012, the project was repeatedly stalled due to complex land acquisition challenges. The proposed stretch of 1,950 metres, connecting Ram Cooler Square to Durga Mata Mandir Square, is being widened from its current 30 feet to 60 feet (18 metres). The widened road is expected to relieve severe traffic congestion in the densely populated and historically important Mahal area, where narrow lanes have long led to snarls, especially during peak hours. Of the total 124 properties marked for acquisition, NMC earlier managed to demolish 84 properties through sale-purchase agreements. In the subsequent phases, the civic body acquired the remaining private properties under the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (LARR) Act. These acquisitions allowed NMC to gain control over major portions of the stretch, though the execution remained sluggish. Besides private holdings, 15 govt-owned properties fall along the proposed widened stretch. Out of these, eight have already been handed over to NMC, while acquisition of the remaining seven is pending. Notably, these govt properties are being transferred to the civic body without any compensation. On Tuesday, armed with heavy police protection, NMC's town planning department, along with its enforcement squad, began a fresh round of demolitions to clear remaining encroachments, razing 22 properties from CP & Berar College Square to Ramaji Pahelwan Square. Approximately 18 properties are still left to be razed. The civic body plans to carry out the demolitions in a phased manner, depending on ground-level resistance and logistical challenges. "The razing will continue in phases and is critical to completing the long-stalled road widening project. Once fully cleared, it will greatly ease traffic movement in the core areas of the city," said a senior official from NMC's Town Planning Department. The overall cost of the project is pegged at Rs 65 crore. Of this, the state govt is bearing 70% — around Rs 45 crore — while the remaining Rs 20 crore is being funded by the civic body. Once completed, the widened Ramji Pehalwan Road will significantly boost vehicular mobility, reduce travel time, and improve accessibility for emergency vehicles. It will also allow for better footpath infrastructure, enhancing pedestrian safety. NMC hopes the renewed demolition drive will finally lead to the completion of this long-overdue infrastructure project.

HC lifts stay on civil prison order against builder, initiates contempt proceedings
Ahmedabad: The Gujarat high court has lifted the stay on an order by the Gujarat Real Estate Regulatory Authority (GujRERA) to detain office bearers of Pacifica Developers Pvt Ltd, including its managing director Rakesh Israni, in a 60-day civil prison. The developers were penalised for failing to hand over possession of a house to a customer and allegedly selling the same property to a third party. In addition to clearing the way for execution of the civil prison order, Justice Vaibhavi Nanavati last week referred the case to a division bench for the initiation of contempt of court proceedings against Israni, the company, and other office bearers—Darpan Tarwani, Kaushik Patel, and Jay Chandani—for making false statements before the court. "The conduct of the original petitioners in SCA No. 20527 of 2022 is contemptuous and requires action. This court deems it fit to refer the original petitioners to the bench handling contempt matters," the order reads. The court accepted the proposal and stayed the GujRERA order of civil detention. Later, Sharma's advocate, Vishal Dave, informed the court that the developers had approached the high court again and sought to withdraw their petition, stating they would instead file an appeal before the RERA appellate tribunal. The court allowed this and continued the stay on the civil detention order. However, in 2024, Sharma approached the court again, stating that the developers had never filed an appeal before the appellate tribunal and had continued to enjoy the stay order wrongfully. Justice Nanavati observed, "The aforesaid in the opinion of this court, is nothing but abuse of process of law and the said act is contemptuous in nature and in the opinion of this court, the original petitioners (builders) are jointly and severally liable for the same." While referring the matter to a division bench for contempt proceedings, the high court also ordered the release of the Rs 24 lakh deposit to Sharma.
