The iOS 26 public beta is expected sometime this week and Apple is setting up the stage for its biggest release in years.
iOS 26 developer beta has moved quickly to the point that the public beta release is imminent. The iOS 26 public beta is rumoured to be starting before the end of July 2025 and most reports say Apple could offer the new version for beta users sometime this week. The developer beta has given us a good idea about what Apple plans to offer with the new version, which includes the Liquid glass interface.
These beta updates have raised concerns primarily because of how buggy the apps and features are but that is always going to happen when these versions are solely meant for testing purposes. So, if you want a more polished update, the iOS 26 public beta is the one worth waiting for
Apple will start the iOS 26 public beta program which will allow iPhone users to sign up and receive the first version for the new iOS update.
iOS 26 Public Beta Update: New Features Expected
Apple faced a lot of criticism with the Liquid Glass UI with the developer beta 1 update and the new version fixes those on the Control Centre and the overall layout. You don't see the tabs overlapping with the glass interface which gives it a cleaner and readable finish.
The iOS 26 public will get a new Alt 1 ringtone. You can set it up from the Settings – Sounds and Haptics and tapping on the ringtone to change the tune for your calls.
Apple is finally letting iPhone users know the exact purpose of the low power mode and what all features are affected when you turn it on. The company's note says background activities, processing speed, display refresh rate and even the iCloud syncing support are reduced.

AppleCare One: A new subscription to safeguard up to 3 Apple devices

Apple has introduced AppleCare One, a new subscription plan that lets users cover multiple Apple devices under a single policy. For $19.99 (approximately Rs 1700) per month, AppleCare One includes all the benefits of AppleCare+ and covers up to three devices, including the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. Subscribers get comprehensive coverage, including battery replacements, unlimited accidental damage repairs, theft and loss protection (now extended to iPad and Apple Watch), 24/7 priority access to Apple experts, and fast Apple-certified service. Customers may sign up for their iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch and save up to $11 per month compared to enrolling in individual AppleCare+ plans for each. The cost of adding more items is $5.99 per month. Customers can now add devices that are up to four years old, a major shift from the previous 60-day window. However, Apple notes that older devices must be in 'good condition' and may need to pass a diagnostic check before being enrolled. Headphones can also be added, but only if they are less than a year old. According to Apple, users can enroll in AppleCare One in an Apple Store or from their iPhone, iPad, or Mac starting on July 24. AppleCare one also streamlines plan management. If a covered device is traded in at an Apple store, the subscription automatically transfers to the new device. AppleCare One joins the growing ecosystem of Apple services, alongside AppleOne that bundles Apple Music, iCloud+, TV+, and more. Apple recently reported another record-breaking quarter of its services revenue.

Apple beats US appeal claiming it shortchanged customers on iCloud storage

By Jonathan Stempel A U.S. federal appeals court on Wednesday rejected claims by Apple customers that the iPhone maker gave them less iCloud data storage than they paid for when upgrading. In a 3-0 decision, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco said reasonable consumers in the proposed class action would not have been misled by Apple's promises about storage capacity in its iCloud+ plans . The plaintiff Lisa Bodenburg said she paid $2.99 a month for 200 GB of storage, believing Apple would add it to the 5 GB that all iCloud customers receive, and was shortchanged because Apple gave her only 200 GB of total storage, not 205 GB. Circuit Judge Milan Smith, however said Bodenburg "received exactly what Apple promised her" when the Cupertino, California-based company offered "incremental" or "supplemental" storage, on top of the 5 GB she got for free. He cited dismissals of other cases based on "unreasonable assumptions," including that Diet Dr. Pepper would aid in weight loss, and the net weight on a lip balm label failed to reveal that the dispenser's design left some balm inaccessible. "Apple's statements are not false and deceptive merely because may be unreasonably misunderstood by an insignificant and unrepresentative segment of consumers," Smith wrote. Lawyers for Bodenburg did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The decision upheld a May 2024 dismissal by U.S. District Judge Trina Thompson in San Francisco. The case is Bodenburg v Apple Inc, 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, No. 24-3335.
