Kaizer Chiefs target Mamelodi Sundowns outcast

Kaizer Chiefs look set to reignite their pursuit of Mamelodi Sundowns defender Terrence Mashego, after his glaring omission from the Brazilians' squad for the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States raised eyebrows.
Mashego, who left Cape Town City in 2022 to join Sundowns, endured a deeply disappointing 2024/2025 campaign. He managed only five appearances in the Betway Premiership, falling behind Aubrey Modiba, Divine Lunga, and rising star Asekho Tiwani in the left-back hierarchy.
With limited opportunities and his Club World Cup exclusion highlighting his marginalised role, the 28-year-old Bafana Bafana international appears increasingly open to a move. A source confirmed. 'Mashego wants regular football again and the Club World Cup omission shows he's not in Cardoso's plans.'
Kaizer Chiefs have identified the left side of defence as a key area to strengthen. Mashego, a former AFCON bronze medallist with South Africa, has reportedly emerged as one of their top targets. Chiefs previously explored a deal in the last transfer window but failed to secure his services, with Sundowns choosing to retain the Mamelodi-born fullback.
However, the timing now seems ideal. With Chiefs pushing to rebuild under their new technical team and Mashego desperate to revitalise his career, the potential transfer could benefit both the player and the Soweto giants.
Although Mashego remains contracted to Sundowns for another season, his future appears uncertain. A move to Naturena would give him a fresh start, while Chiefs would gain a seasoned domestic campaigner with both international and continental experience.
'Mashego is eager to regain his place in the national team setup,' a source added, signalling the player's readiness for a new chapter.
Will Mashego push for a move to Kaizer Chiefs?

Kaizer Chiefs striker targets remain elusive, but there's hope

Kaizer Chiefs are still struggling to land their top striker targets this transfer window. After missing out on Fiston Mayele and Michael Olunga, the club is under pressure to bring in reliable attacking firepower ahead of the new season. Both Mayele and Olunga were high on Kaizer Chiefs' wishlist, but the financial demands proved too steep. The duo remains out of reach, despite efforts from the Chiefs technical team. This ongoing struggle is adding to fan anxiety, especially after rivals Orlando Pirates completed multiple key signings. Kaizer Chiefs may not have their dream striker, but the club has turned to youth for a solution. Naledi Hlongwane, a promising forward from the DDC side, has been promoted to the senior squad. It's a bold move, one that reflects both the club's faith in its academy and its limited options in the market. Flavio Silva remains the only experienced striker added so far. The Portuguese forward has shown glimpses of potential, but many supporters remain unconvinced he can carry the team's scoring burden alone. Etiosa Ighodaro is another name linked to the club, but there's been no official progress on that front. Kaizer Chiefs marketing director Jessica Motaung addressed the situation: 'The technical team is working closely to find the right players. It's not just about rushing — it's about getting it right for the long term.' Fans are calling for action, not patience. With the Toyota Cup around the corner, many are hoping to see at least one or two fresh faces don the gold and black. If Kaizer Chiefs are serious about reclaiming their status at the top, now is the time to act. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Kaizer Chiefs lose momentum in transfer race

Kaizer Chiefs fans are growing increasingly impatient as the club continues to fall behind in the transfer market. With several targets slipping away and rivals strengthening, supporters are calling for bold action. This week, Kaizer Chiefs were snubbed again — this time by Oswin Appollis, who joined Orlando Pirates despite long-standing interest from Naturena. The winger was viewed as a key piece in Chiefs' rebuild, but the club's inability to close the deal has once again left fans frustrated. Flavio Silva remains Kaizer Chiefs' only confirmed attacking arrival. While the Portuguese striker has talent, he arrives with little fanfare and few guarantees. With the squad still thin in attack, supporters are demanding more signings before the window closes. Michael Olunga and Fiston Mayele were both linked with the club, but those pursuits appear to have fizzled out due to high price tags. Internal sources claim the technical team is exploring other options, but progress has been slow. Jessica Motaung offered a statement to ease concerns: 'We are working tirelessly to finalise the right players. These decisions are not easy, but we want to do what's best for Kaizer Chiefs long-term.' While that may offer some reassurance, time is running out. The Toyota Cup is fast approaching, and Kaizer Chiefs have yet to announce any marquee names. With Pirates already making big moves, fans fear the team may once again fall short of expectations. The club's vision of returning to domestic and continental dominance remains intact, but execution has been lacking. The next few weeks could define Kaizer Chiefs' season — for better or worse.
