'Hard work ahead' - Pressley bemoans Dundee loss
"It very much highlighted that we have so much hard work ahead of us. You could see in both our attacking and defending elements that we weren't in sync on many occasions."We haven't had long enough, I could see that in our performance. We were disjointed at times. Every day on the training ground will help us put some of these things in place."I hope we're under no illusions just to how much work that's required. I know that."Dundee visit Alloa Athletic in their next Group C game on Saturday before a trip to Bonnyrigg Rose (22 July) before Montrose visit Dens Park (26 July)."Today was the first time the real ball came out and there were some real teething problems in our display," Pressley added."I'm confident with this group of players and some additions that we can put that right."I'm really excited about what we have here but it's going to take time."

Norwich chief admits 'big interest' in Sargent
Sporting director Ben Knapper has assured Norwich City fans that Josh Sargent will be replaced if "big interest" in the striker brings big transfer Canaries are understood to have held talks with Burnley and Wolfsburg about the USA international, who is under contract until spoke to City fans at Carrow Road on Tuesday as part of a special summer episode of BBC Radio Norfolk's Scrimmage show, and was asked if the 25-year-old would be staying."We don't know at this point, there's big interest in the player," Knapper said. "As of now, no, is the answer, but of course there is big interest in the player, I think that is well known."As always with these things it has to work for everyone. Josh is always going to command big interest. There is big clubs in the big five leagues who are expressing a lot of interest in him and he is also ambitious."We're ambitious as a club and we try to attract ambitious players and then it's difficult for us to hold that against them."It has to work for us. At the minute nothing has, he's a Norwich player and I'll just turn my phone off for the next few weeks and [hope] that will remain so."City's football chief was alongside head coach Liam Manning, majority shareholder Mark Attanasio and executive director Zoe Webber for the while Knapper could not provide clarity on Sargent's situation, he did state that the recent £6.9m addition of Denmark forward Mathias Kvistgaarden was not a pre-emptive replacement for the American."There's definitely going to be more activity in the front line, even if Josh doesn't go," Knapper said. "So we're not done in terms of our transfer activity, there's still things that we're working on."There's still going to be movement on the way in, even if there are no other outs because we still feel like we want to add at least another option or two in wide areas to give us flexibility in terms of how we attack."But of course if we were to lose another offensive player then we would add again." Kvistgaarden, 23, has been the eye-catching signing of the summer so far for Norwich. It follows the recruitment of Manning from Bristol City with the hope of bouncing back from a disappointing 13th place in the Championship last Norwich-born head coach said Kvistgaarden coming in showed the ambition of the club."When I first joined, he was one of the first ones that Ben (Knapper) and Lee (Dunn, head of recruitment) put in front of me and I'm super excited by him," Manning said."[He is] a great indicator about the ambition that we are trying to have, that we are able to attract someone of that level, with the level of interest that he had."You'll be surprised when you see him. He's 5ft 9ins but when you see him run, jump, he scores a lot of headers which for someone of his size is quite unusual."But great energy, a big character, part of him coming was the challenge of making him better, so he's really aware of his career and where he's at so super excited by him."He'll obviously have to get used to the Championship, which is a different beast, so our job is to manage him, support him, and give him everything he needs to deliver."Click here to watch the summer Scrimmage special back in full.

Hearts score four past Hamilton to extend Premier Sports Cup winning streak
Hearts extended their 100 per cent winning streak as they made it six Premier Sports Cup points from six following Tuesday night's comfortable 4-0 win over Hamilton at Broadwood. The Gorgie side, who beat Dunfermline 4-1 at home in their Group E opener on Saturday, made seven changes but started with purpose and defender Stuart Findlay scored a debut goal after six minutes when he rose at the back post to bullet in a close-range header. As the Jambos enjoyed control, Alan Forest, Frankie Kent and Blair Spittal all had efforts which missed the target before they doubled their lead just before the break. Christian Borchgrevink worked a one-two with James Wilson and set up Elton Kabangu to tap the ball in from close range. In the 68th minute, 18-year-old Wilson also hit the back of the next from a Claudio Braga cross to make it two goals in two games, with Portuguese attacker Braga getting the fourth for the Jambos minutes later with a deflected strike, his first for the Gorgie side. Motherwell had another Group G struggle before emerging 2-1 comeback winners against Peterhead in their first home match of the season. The Steelmen drew 2-2 away to Clyde in their opener at the weekend before winning the penalty shootout and they had to come from behind against the part-time visitors at Fir Park. Visiting attacker Jack Brown took advantage of slack defending in the Well defence after eight minutes to race through and beat debutant goalkeeper Matty Connelly for a shock lead. However, Well asserted themselves and their equaliser came in the 29th minute when full-back Emmanuel Longelo, making his first start since signing from West Ham, produced a fine finish into the top corner. Peterhead goalkeeper Jack Newman became increasingly busy albeit counterpart Connelly had to make a fine save from former Aberdeen player Cammy Smith just before the break to keep the tie level. The visitors began to tire as the second half unfolded but the William Hill Premiership hosts missed several chances to get the winner. But Austrian striker Lukas Fadinger converted a Callum Slattery cross in stoppage time to record his first goal for the Lanarkshire side since joining from SC Rheindorf Altach. St Mirren claimed their first Group D win with a 2-1 win away to League Two side Forfar Athletic. The Premiership side drew 0-0 with Arbroath on Saturday then lost the penalty shootout and bonus point. On matchday two, defender Jayden Richardson drove in his first goal for the Saints after nine minutes, coming into the penalty area from the right and firing high into the net. In the 75th minute, James Scott beat the offside trap and set up Mikael Mandron to finish. Kieran Inglis fired past Buddies goalkeeper Peter Urminsky from distance five minutes later to reduce the deficit but the visitors held on for the win. Elsewhere, Airdrieonians – who shocked Premiership side Dundee with a 1-0 on Saturday – enjoyed a 3-0 win over 10-man Bonnyrigg Rose, who had Josh Laing sent off for a second yellow card, having conceded a penalty. East Kilbride, promoted to League Two for the first time, produced a stunning 4-2 win at Championship side Raith Rovers with John Robertson scoring a hat-trick. While Ayr United made sure there would be no shock on their trip to Annan Athletic, with a thumping 6-1 win, with George Oakley celebrating a treble. Hearts flexed their muscles and made a big leap towards the last 16 of the Premier Sports Cup with a comfortable Group E 4-0 win over Hamilton Accies at Broadwood Stadium. In Derek McInnes' second game in charge, Hearts were far too strong for their League One opposition despite the head coach making seven changes to the starting XI that defeated Dunfermline Athletic 4-1 last weekend. Star striker Lawrence Shankland dropped down to the bench but the Jambos did not need him. They were superior in every area of the pitch. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Centre-half Stuart Findlay made his Hearts debut and opened the scoring. There was also a maiden appearance for Norwegian right-back Christian Borchgrevink and he set up one of the goals. Another new signing Claudio Braga came off the bench and impressed. Hearts' Claudio Braga (R) celebrates scoring to make it 4-0 with teammate Cammy Devlin. | SNS Group Hearts now sit on six points in their pool and are three clear of their nearest challengers. They head to Forthbank Stadium on Saturday to take on Stirling Albion, where a win could secure qualification to the knock-out phase with a game to spare. They conclude their group fixtures next Wednesday at home to Dumbarton. Optimism has swelled at Hearts over the summer, with the appointment of McInnes, the arrival of Brighton owner Tony Bloom as shareholder and a swathe of new players. McInnes not only made major changes to his team, but he also tried out at a back three. Frankie Kent wore the captain's armband and was a dominant presence, with Alan Forrest at left wing-back. James Wilson and Elton Kabangu led the line. Just like against the Pars on Saturday, Hearts opened the scoring early. On five minutes, Blair Spittal swung over an inswinging corner kick and Findlay headed home from close range. It was as straightforward a goal as one could score on their debut. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Hearts in total control Hearts could have put the game to bed within the first 40 minutes but were profligate in front of goal. Kabangu spurned two good chances, the first of which was smartly saved by Jamie Smith, while with the second he delayed shooting too long and the opportunity was lost. Smith also saved from long-range Calem Nieuwenhof and Spittal strikes, while Kent strode forward unchecked. Urged to shoot, he belted the ball high over Smith's bar and against the leisure centre wall stationed behind it. Accies tried to compete but could not match Hearts' power and physicality. Beni Baningime pulled the strings in midfield, ably assisted by Nieuwenhof and Spittal. The hosts looked to have held out for a one-goal deficit at the break, but Kabangu would not be denied. A lovely passing move ended with Borchgrevink being slipped down the right flank and his low cross was tapped in by the Belgian. Two wins out of two for Hearts boss Derek McInnes. | SNS Group A sleepy second half was awoken by an excellent goal on 69 minutes to put any lingering doubt of the result to bed. Braga tore down the right flank and his low cross was finished from close range by James Wilson for his second goal in as many games. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Braga himself got on the scoresheet on 83 minutes, getting on the end of a Harry Milne cutback and netting via a sizeable deflection. He celebrated with a Cristiano Ronaldo 'Siu' celebration in front of the adoring travelling Hearts support, who were impressed by his lively cameo. The other match in Group E finished 1-0 to Dumbarton at home to Stirling Albion. St Mirren are off the mark Hearts were not the only Premiership side in action on a busy Tuesday night in the Premier Sports Cup. St Mirren recovered from losing on penalties at the weekend against Arbroath to defeat Forfar Athletic 2-1 at Station Park in Group D. Jayden Richardson and Mikael Mandron got the goals. Elsewhere in the group, Ayr were 6-1 victors over Annan Athletic. Motherwell's needed a stoppage-time winner from Lucas Fadinger to take down Peterhead 2-1 at Fir Park in Group G, although they are a point behind Morton after their 3-0 win over Stenhousemuir.
