Anne meets Ukrainian band at Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo rehearsal
The Princess Royal wore sunglasses and the Tattoo's official tartan as she watched a rehearsal at Redford Barracks in the Scottish capital.
She watched international teams perform their displays of military drill, music and dancing ahead of the show's run beginning at Edinburgh Castle later this week.
As well as military bands from the UK's armed forces, this year's show will feature performers from the US, Poland and Switzerland.
This year will see members of the Centre for Military Music of the Ukrainian Navy make their debut.
The Odessa-based orchestra are engaged in rehabilitation projects as well as a number of cultural programmes.
This year will also be the first time Adam Lane has stepped in as the Tattoo's creative director.
A theatre director by trade, he is also a reservist with the Royal Engineers.
The theme for this year – the 75th for the Tattoo – will be 'the heroes who made us' – with each night of the show's run celebrating a significant figure.
Mr Lane told the PA news agency: 'The team here are fantastic, they've been making shows for decades, so I'm very confident they're a great team and they'll do a great job.'
He added: 'International acts have always been an important component of the show and this year's no different.
'I'm absolutely delighted to welcome our brothers and sisters from Ukraine.
'Like all international acts, they've come to represent the best of their nation.
'We have some extraordinary Ukrainian military music and some Ukrainian cultural dancing as well so I think the audience are going to really enjoy that.'

A man has died after falling at London's Wembley Stadium during an Oasis concert on Saturday, police have said. Officers at the stadium responded to an incident at 10:19pm alongside medics at the venue and the London Ambulance Service after reports that someone had been injured. Police said in their statement: 'At around 22:19hrs on Saturday, 2 August, officers on duty at Wembley Stadium for the Oasis concert responded alongside venue medics and the London Ambulance Service to reports that a person had been injured. 'A man - aged in his 40s – was found with injuries consistent with a fall. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. 'The stadium was busy, and we believe it is likely a number of people witnessed the incident, or may knowingly or unknowingly have caught it on mobile phone video footage. 'If you have any information that could help us to confirm what happened, please call 101, quoting 7985/02AUG.'

OASIS have paid a touching tribute to a fan who tragically plunged to their death at the band's gig. Liam and Noel spoke of their "shock" following the tragic fall, which occurred during the Gallagher brothers' sell-out performance at Wembley last night. 4 4 4 The man - aged in his 40s - was understood to be sitting in the upper tier of the stadium. The highest stands in the 90,000-seat venue are some 170ft above the ground. Police and paramedics rushed to the gig but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The brothers said they were "shocked and saddened" to hear about the fan's death. In a statement released today, they said: 'We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show last night. "Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.' One fan, who was sitting in a lower tier, described watching medics try to revive the tragic fan after he hit the concrete. She wrote: 'I was directly underneath in section 211. At first glance I thought it was a coat falling from the above tier but then I looked and saw the bloke on the concrete. "It was horrific to see.' The Met Police confirmed that officers at Wembley responded to reports that a man had been injured at 10.19pm, where they found the casualty with 'injuries consistent with a fall'. They urged anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have unknowingly caught it on their mobile phone to get in touch. The police are expected to inform the Health and Safety Executive which could launch a probe into the death. A Wembley Stadium spokesperson said: "Last night, Wembley Stadium medics, the London Ambulance Service and the police attended to a concert goer who was found with injuries consistent with a fall. "Despite their efforts, the fan very sadly died. "Our thoughts go out to his family, who have been informed and are being supported by specially trained police officers. "The Police have asked anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them. "Tonight's Oasis concert will go ahead as planned." Saturday's gig was the fourth of seven London shows on Oasis' blockbuster reunion tour. The band crashed ticket sites when they announced they were making a comeback last year - as more than 14 million fans tried to secure a seat at the highly-anticipated gigs. Last month Liam and Noel reunited on stage in Cardiff for the first time since a backstage bust-up broke up the band 16 years ago. The Britpop icons returned to their hometown of Manchester for five dates in July. They performed a 23-song setlist of classic hits, including Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger and Live Forever to a roaring crowd of 80,000 people at Heaton Park. They will head to America later this month before returning to London for two more gigs in September. 4
