'I love being here I love being an Aggie' Texas A&M's LaViolette spoke ahead of LSU series
Texas A&M holds control over its postseason destiny with nine crucial SEC games remaining in regular-season play. Currently sitting at 8-13 in SEC standings, the Aggies must secure at least five more conference wins to reach the pivotal magic number of 13, keeping their hopes alive for postseason baseball in June.
With two top-five teams left on the schedule, A&M will rely heavily on Jace LaViolette to return to peak form—the level of dominance he displayed against Arkansas, which earned him SEC Player of the Week honors.
However, LaViolette faced struggles against Texas, recording just one official hit and striking out three times over the three weekends. Despite this, he took time for self-reflection, reminding himself of his love for the game and the opportunity to keep competing at a high level.
"I was pretty in the dumps after probably one of the worst games in college I've ever played, but at the same time, I look at it and I'm like you know what, I could be somewhere totally different doing something totally different that I don't love, but instead I get to come here every day even though I went 0 for six I still got to do the thing that I love I still got to wake up and come here and play the game of baseball."
LaViolette, who was originally committed to LSU before joining the Aggies, remains focused on the challenge ahead, knowing that his family in Louisiana will be watching closely.
"I love being here I love being an Aggie and that's that's long time in the past"
"My family still lives in Louisiana, so I mean they're excited to watch this, but at the same time it's just another weekend it's an important weekend that we just have to go and play good baseball, and no matter who we're playing"
Below, you can watch the full press conference leading into the LSU series.
Texas A&M will host No. 2 LSU (37-9) on Friday, May 2 at 6:00 p.m. CT. The game will stream on SEC Network+.

Former Ohio State defensive lineman Cam Heyward lands on NFL Top 100 list

.@CamHeyward lands at #️⃣8️⃣3️⃣ on the #NFLTop100📝: It's that time of year again when we get a look at the annual NFL "Top 100" list. This ranking is unique in the fact that the voting comes from the players themselves, so that likely means a little more knowing what your colleagues who play football at the highest level think of you. One guy that makes the list almost every year is former Ohio State and current Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Cam Heyward. This year, he checks in at No. 83, and boy, has he had staying power. The 2025-26 season will be Heyward's 14th season after being selected by the Steelers in the first round of the 2011 NFL draft. He's had a distinguished and probably underrated career if we're being honest. He's been named a First-Team All-Pro four times, made the Pro Bowl seven times, and was voted the Walter Payton Man of the Year in 2023. Before heading to the NFL, Heyward made a name for himself in Columbus by becoming a First-Team All-Big Ten selection in 2010. will continue to unveil the Top 100 players for this year, and we'll continue to keep track of when former Ohio State football players are unveiled. Ohio State commit Blaine Bradford won't be swayed by LSU commit to stay home in Louisiana

Five-Star ATH Lamar Brown committed to LSU yesterday & is already recruiting for the Tigers 👀Brown is pushing for a flip from Elite 2026 Ohio State commit Blaine BradfordCan Lamar Brown & LSU pull off the flip and keep the elite in-state talent home? In today's world of college football, recruiting doesn't stop after a recruit says he's in. Gone are the days when a commitment actually meant something. A five-year-old's pinky promise means more than most verbal pledges these days. However, there are some who still stay true to their word. One of them is Ohio State commit Blaine Bradford. Bradford, the No. 2-rated player in the state of Louisiana, committed to the Buckeyes back in March. The No. 1 rated defensive lineman in the country, Lamar Brown, is Louisiana's No. 1 player and just committed to the LSU Tigers. It seems that Brown is now trying to sway Bradford, who is the No. 3 safety according to 247Sports composite rankings, to stay home with him in Baton Rouge. Brown made a social media post, tagging Bradford, saying "Come Home!" with a tiger emoji attached. But Bradford shut that notion down real fast. Jermaine Mathews replied to a post from Hayes Fawcett, who loves to stir the pot with recruiting news, saying "Stop what u doing Hayes" with a couple crying emojis. Bradford then replied to his future teammate with a simple "ong," short for "on God," meaning, as shares, is "used to express strong belief, agreement, or honesty, similar to saying 'I swear to God' or 'as God is my witness.'" Blaine Bradford responds to speculation that he could flip his commitment from Ohio State to LSU That's a great sign for Ryan Day as it seems Bradford is locked in with the Buckeyes. Ohio State is also trying to lure the No. 1-rated safety in the land, Bralan Womack, to Columbus to join Bradford and fellow safety recruit, Simeon Caldwell. Womack is currently crystal-balled to wear the Scarlet and Gray and would be the cherry on top of a lethal class of defensive backs.

Texas A&M's Mya Perez to star in MLB's Home Run Derby X Showcase

Texas A&M power-hitting ace Mya Perez will be back in action on July 26 when she joins the unique MLB Home Run Derby X. On Saturday afternoon, the Round Rock Express minor league baseball team confirmed Perez's commitment to the event. So, what is MLB Home Run Derby X? Launched in 2022, MLB sought to create an exciting event to attract new fans to the sport, and Home Run Derby X was born. Here's how the league describes it: MLB Home Run Derby X is an electric new baseball format. A 3-on-3 co-ed competition featuring power hitting and athletic catching. Each event features four teams with each team led by an MLB legend. Two semi-finals. One final. Non-stop action. Perez has long been known for her power, even before arriving in Aggieland. She burst onto the scene as a member of the highly touted Athletics Mercado travel softball team. She famously defeated Oklahoma Sooner legend Jocelyn Alo in a friendly home run derby, cementing her prowess in the batter's box. After a challenging freshman year at Texas A&M, Perez returned to the grind in the off-season and emerged as one of the premier hitters in the SEC. During her sophomore campaign, she posted a slash line of .424/.561/.804 with 16 home runs and a school-record 73 RBI. Her standout performance earned her All-SEC First Team honors and consensus All-American Second Team recognition in 2025. Be sure to tune in on July 26 to see Perez showcase her skills in front of a packed crowd.
