Rudraprayag (Uttarakhand) [India], July 4 (ANI): The Kedarnath Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand was temporarily halted on Friday after a landslide damaged the pedestrian track near Chhodi Gadhere, about one kilometre ahead of Gaurikund, according to Rudraprayag Police.
Authorities stated that due to the landslide, the path leading to the sacred shrine of Kedarnath had become unsafe for pilgrims, leading officials to suspend movement along the route until further notice.
In a post on X, Rudraprayag Police wrote, 'The pedestrian track at Chhodi Gadhere, one kilometre ahead of Gaurikund, has been damaged due to a landslide, as a result of which, the Kedarnath Dham Yatra has been temporarily halted.'

A day earlier, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced that the Uttarakhand government had decided to temporarily suspend the Char Dham Yatra due to adverse weather conditions.
CM Dhami noted that the safety of the pilgrims is the government's priority.
'Considering the weather, the Char Dham yatra has been temporarily halted. In the future, we will proceed with the yatra in accordance with the weather. When the yatra is safe, it will continue... Our priority during the yatra is the safety of all pilgrims... All our district officials, disaster management teams, National Disaster Response Force, and State Disaster Response Force are fully prepared', Dhami told reporters on Thursday.
This year, the Kedarnath Dham has witnessed an influx of pilgrims, which officials attribute to both improved facilities and growing spiritual interest.
Authorities have also deployed enhanced security and medical response teams to manage the high-altitude yatra effectively.
The Kedarnath temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is located at an altitude of over 11,000 feet in the Himalayas and holds immense religious significance. The Kedarnath Yatra doors for the year 2025 were opened for devotees on May 2. (ANI)

Uttarakhand CM Dhami urges Centre to formulate separate aviation policy for mountain states

Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], July 5 (ANI): Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the Civil Aviation Conference-2025 organised in Dehradun on Friday. Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu and Civil Aviation Ministers of North India also attended the conference. Chief Minister said that this conference is a testimony to the historic progress made in the civil aviation sector of the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that by connecting small cities and remote areas with air connectivity through the Udan scheme, not only has air travel become accessible to the common citizens, but the local economy has also been strengthened. The Chief Minister said that currently 18 heliports are being developed in Uttarakhand, out of which services have started at 12. He said that heli services have become not only a means of transport in hilly states like Uttarakhand, but have also become a lifeline. 'Be it disaster management, health services or pilgrimage, helicopter services have provided unprecedented convenience in these areas'. Chief Minister Dhami urged the Union Civil Aviation Ministry to formulate a separate 'Mountain Aviation Policy' for mountain states, which should include provisions such as special financial assistance, subsidy for operations, suitable ATC network for mountain areas, accurate weather forecast, slotting and pre-disaster preparation. The Chief Minister also requested all operators to provide special pilot training for mountain flights, strict adherence to safety standards and ensure the safety of passengers. Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu announced that the government is working on a plan towards the expansion of airports and helipads in hilly areas of the country. Naidu stated that under the Regional Connectivity Scheme, several airports from Jammu and Kashmir to Arunachal Pradesh are being built. 'We already have a plan for the expansion of heliports in hilly states. Under our Regional Connectivity Scheme, several airports from J&K to Arunachal Pradesh are being built', Ram Mohan Naidu told reporters in Dehradun. The Union Minister stated that there are 18 heliports in Uttarakhand, and as far as safety is concerned, the weather conditions and geographical terrains pose difficulties in the operations of helicopters. Indians are among most passionate fans of the West Indies cricket team says PM Modi

Port of Spain [Trinidad and Tobago], July 4 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the joint assembly of Trinidad and Tobago's parliament on Friday, highlighted the fondness Indian fans have for the West Indies cricket team, except when they compete against India. 'I must say, Indians are among the most passionate fans of the West Indies cricket team. We cheer for them with all our heart, except when they are playing against India,' PM Modi said. Many legendary West Indies players, including Chris Gayle, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, and Kieron Pollard, have featured in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Gayle, Pollard and Russell are among the most admired West Indies cricketers in India. Nicholas Pooran, Rovman Powell, Shimron Hetmyer, Sherfane Rutherford, Romario Shepherd, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell were elite Caribbean players in IPL 2025. President of Trinidad and Tobago, Christine Kangaloo, presented PM Modi with the award as he became the first foreign leader to be honoured with the award. This is the 25th international honour bestowed upon PM Modi by any country. PM Modi began his first official visit to Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday (local time) with a ceremonial Guard of Honour at Piarco International Airport, where he was received by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar along with 38 ministers and four Members of Parliament of the Caribbean nation. "Not Received Any Clearance": Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey On Pakistan Men's Hockey Team Travelling To India

Former captain and Hockey India president Dilip Tirkey confirmed that the board hasn't received any clearance from the government about the Pakistan men's hockey team travelling to India for the Asia Cup and Junior Hockey World Cup, which are set to be held in the nation later this year. There is uncertainty over Pakistan's men's hockey team's participation in the tournaments after the cross-border tension between India and Pakistan escalated in May earlier this year. India will host the Asia Cup from August 29 to September 7 at the recently developed Rajgir Hockey Stadium in Bihar. The Men's Junior Hockey World Cup is scheduled to take place from November 28 to December 10 in Tamil Nadu. Tirkey addressed the ongoing reports about Pakistan travelling to India and participating in the tournament and told ANI, "We have seen many tournaments, and whenever there is a match between India and Pakistan, the whole world likes to watch it. Two tournaments that we are going to host, Pakistan is going to participate in both. However, till now, we have not received any clearance; once we get it, we will move forward accordingly." Pakistan's men's hockey team toured India for the Hockey World Cup in 2018. Apart from Pakistan, India will host Japan, Korea, China, Malaysia, Oman and Chinese Taipei in the next month's Asia Cup. Meanwhile, in the Junior Hockey World Cup, India and Pakistan have been drafted in Pool B alongside Chile and Switzerland. While the Pakistan hockey team is travelling to India, it remains to be seen if their men's cricket team will cross the border for the Asia Cup, which is scheduled to be held in India, the official host of the tournament, later this year. In February this year, the Indian team didn't travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy and played all their matches at a neutral venue in Dubai. It was also confirmed that the hybrid model will be adopted for all ICC events in the 2024-27 cycle, which will be held in India or Pakistan.
