Billy Idol almost died from a heroin overdose.
The 69-year-old rocker had returned to London in 1984 to celebrate his success in the US but his partying with friends got out of hand and the group had to revive the Rebel Yell hitmaker when he "turned blue" and collapsed.
Speaking on documentary Billy Idol Should Be Dead, which premiered at the Tribeca Festival on Tuesday (10.06.25), he said: "I was coming back in triumph and I nearly ruined it.
"We flew to London where we met a load of our pals that we knew. They had some of the strongest heroin. Everybody did a line or so and they all nodded out except for me and this mate of mine."
As the rest of the group passed out, Billy and his friend kept taking the drug.
He continued: "I was basically dying. I was turning blue. So they put me in an ice cold bath and I remember them walking me around on the top of the building, on the roof."

Billy insisted he and his peers never considered the dangers of heroin and it was a drug the music scene had "embraced" at the time.
He said: "A number of people were on it. But you know, you're wide open for it. A lot of the people we loved were all heroin addicts.
"Lou Reed wrote the song 'Heroin.' You weren't thinking how dangerous it was. In fact, you're thinking quite the opposite. Maybe this could unleash something."
The White Wedding rocker ultimately gave up the drug for good when he and a friend caused $75,000 damages to a hotel in Bangkok at a time when his son Willem, now 36, was a baby.
At one point, he recalled passing out in an elevator with the doors opening and closing him, while police were called when he threw a log through a glass window.
He said: "Mel Gibson was there with his family on holiday, horrified.

"The silver lining was I did put heroin behind me. It was too horrible, the whole experience. It actually really put me off.
"Getting off heroin is one of the most awfulest experiences in the world. Boy George said it right when he said it's like your skeleton trying to get out of your body. There's no quick fix. It's such a long time. You're just counting the days, the seconds, the hours. Even after six months, you still feel lousy."

Where all the forgotten Love Island finalists are now after they failed to cling onto fame and fortune after ITV2 show
Find out what happened to some of Love Island's most famous faces rocky roads Where all the forgotten Love Island finalists are now after they failed to cling onto fame and fortune after ITV2 show Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) WHILST reaching the Love Island final might seem like a golden ticket to fame and fortune and an endless career in the spotlight, things don't always go quite to plan for the Islanders. Despite most of the show's finalists going on to enjoy successful careers, including some as A-listers and multi-millionaires, for an unlucky few, they plunged back into obscurity just months after their time in the spotlight. Sign up for the Entertainment newsletter Sign up 8 These stars all reached the final of Love Island but quickly disappeared from fame Credit: Rex Features 8 But what came to be of the once fan favourites? Credit: Rex Whilst many dream of the seven-figure deals that roll in for icons including Molly-Mae Hague, Ekin-Su and Maura Higgins - a handful of Islanders haven't been so fortunate. As another four couples head into this Monday's Love Island final, will they be set for life or will one or two of them fall victim to the curse of disappearing from relevancy like these stars. The Sun has compiled a list of the famous finalists who failed to strike it big and make an impact after their summer of love in the spotlight. Paul Knops 8 Hunky Paul came second behind Dani Dyer but soon faded out of the limelight Hunky model Paul was already well on the way to making a name for himself after becoming one of the world's most in-demand male models. He was even chosen to be Britney Spears' love interest for her racy 2016 music video, Make Me..., which saw him getting hot and heavy with the star. So when Paul strutted into the Love Island villa as a late entrant in 2018, it seemed like a no-brainer that he was on track to become a top star. Paul coupled up with fan favourite Laura Anderson after her split from Wes Nelson. Laura and Paul ended up making it all the way to second place - just behind Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham. But the pair quickly split up after Majorca and whilst Laura remained in the headlines and on TV screens, Paul's star faded just as quick as his time in the villa. Whilst his looks haven't faded, it seems the handsome fella prefers living a quieter life away from the hustle and bustle of influencer life. Love Island exes Laura Anderson and Paul Knops agree to move on in Christmas Reunion heart-to-heart Paul still models and his Instagram shows him picture perfect at all times with his new long-haired locks. Lana Jenkins 8 Lana failed to follow in the footsteps of the ladies who came before her When blonde stunner Lana was revealed to be an Islander on series nine of the show in 2023, she seemed like a ready made celebrity. She quickly found herself besotted with partner Ron Hall and they managed to make it all the way to second place in the villa. But despite Lana aligning herself with the same team behind Olivia Attwood, she failed to make a dent in the entertainment industry after her time on the show. Despite the expectation of big brand deals, Lana's commercial work was limited and it wasn't long until her romance with co-star Ron also crumbled at the same time her career stalled. Although she failed to hit the big time, Lana still boasts 500,000 fans on Instagram and shows off glam snaps from her plush travels around the world. She also runs her own home Instagram account to show off her passion for interior design. Josh Oyinsan 8 Hunky Josh's career hasn't taken off 12 months on from the villa Despite only winning the show last summer alongside then-partner, Mimii Ngulube, Josh struggled to translate his win into a long-lasting media career. When Josh and Mimii quickly split following their win, interest in the couple wavered and Josh failed to land any major gigs despite being crowned a champion. Whilst Josh has managed to land a number of paid partnerships on Instagram after the show, it pales in comparison to some of the brand deals landed by his counterparts. His passion for wellness and advocating for the mental health of young athletes has been commendable however and earned him a legion of support. Ched Uzor 8 Ched focused on fitness instead of fame Series six Islander Ched was another star whose place in the final did not guarantee a lengthy career afterwards. He found himself in a relationship with Jess Gale and the loveable pair managed to make it to fourth place on the programme. But their love did not prevail and they called it quits shortly after the show. Ched then found his own career disrupted by the Covid pandemic and he failed to land any big-money gigs. However, despite turning his back on fame, Ched has managed to carve out an online fitness business. Known for his impressive figure and muscly body, Ched has put this to use by helping his followers get in shape and achieve a dream body like his. Titled Shred with Ched, he has launched the app to become an instant personal trainer to people up and down the country. Some of the services that Ched offers includes one-to-one coaching as well as personally curated nutrition and workout plans for each client. Tanya Manhenga 8 Tanya now hosts nightclub parties after Love Island Like her co-star Lana, Tanya hoped that her time on series nine of Love Island would turn her into a money-spinning star. However, the reality was very different. After finishing in fourth place with then-boyfriend, Shaq Muhammad, Tanya struggled to replicate the success of the ladies who came before her after failing to couple up with a big-money fashion brand. These days, Tanya is living a single life after splitting with Shaq and enjoys a jet-setting lifestyle. Helping her travelling habit is her latest venture titled Grooves with TT. It is Tanya's own touring club night featuring exclusively Amapiano music. The star held her first club night in Manchester earlier this year with plans for an event in London next month before taking it across Europe. She also kept her post-villa income topped up with her own wig business, called Tay Slay Wigs. Lauren Richardson 8 Lauren has quit fame altogether and works as a PE teacher Lauren managed to make it all the way to the final of Love Island back in 2015. Despite being coupled up with Josh Ritchie, that didn't help her when it came to securing a top career. Whilst Josh has been a TV regular and shot to even greater fame thanks to his romance with Charlotte Crosby, Lauren quickly faded into obscurity. Heavily tattooed Lauren is worlds away from the typical Islander, with her Instagram feed showing a much more demure and laid-back life in comparison to the glitz and glam of the usual crop of ITV2 stars. Lauren hasn't updated her feed since 2021 and chooses to keep her life out of the spotlight. Exactly a decade from her time in the Majorcan villa, Lauren has shunned fame and now works as a PE teacher and nutritionist.

Love Island fans figure out when villa divide happened as they reveal exact moment the girls turned on each other
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) LOVE Island fans think they have figured out exactly when the villa divide came to fruition. Loyal ITV2 viewers took to social media as they revealed the exact moment the girls started to turn on each other. Conor Phillips and Megan Forte-Clarke were also dumped from Love Island, just days before the grand finale. This may have signalled the end of the highly-publicised villa divide between the girls. Millions of viewers have watched the likes of Toni Laites and Shakira Khan clash with Helena and Meg Moore. Things got especially heated when Harry Cooksley's head was turned back to Shakira after he made his partnership with Helena 'exclusive'. But one viewer noticed that the divide came about a long time before the infamous Grafties ceremony. On fan forum platform Reddit, one informed fan noticed that the girls were splitting in the villa all the way back in episode two of the 2025 series. A throwback clip posted on the platform, in a thread titled 'Episode 2- the start of the divide'. In the video, Shakira made a new best friend in Toni after her bombshell arrival and the duo gossiped together by the firepit. This was as Alima Gagigo, Sophie Lee, Megan, Helena, and Meg were all sitting together in a separate part of the villa. Watch as girls go head-to-head in furious Love Island clash and vow NEVER to speak outside the villa Shakira told the Las Vegas cabana server that she felt like she was judged from the rest of the girls for chatting with so many of the boys so early on. She remarked: "I'm not joking, getting ready then the vibes felt so off. "So it's not enough to like pick up on and say something about because it's nothing that is being said, but it's the energy. Toni replied: "You know everyone is interested in you." Then Shakira stated: "I've been grafting, but I feel like the girls don't appreciate that. "But equally what's stopping them from doing the same thing? We've all been here [only] a day. She added: "Like, I think I have a right to get to know everybody." Meanwhile in the separate sofa area, Meg remarked: "The problem is, thinking of what Maya said last night, I think it is in Shakira's court. It's not enough to like pick up on and say something about because it's nothing that is being said, but it's the energy Skaira Khan "That's why she's been grafting her f****** a*** off today." To which Helena sarcastically responded: "I think she fancies everyone doesn't she?" She jokingly added: "She probably fancies the plants!" Captioning the preview, the fan wrote: "Is this when the 'bullying' started? LOVE ISLAND 2025 - ALL the dumped stars so far LOVE Island 2025 is in its penultimate week. In the captions below, fans seemed to concur that this was the moment the villa divide started. One fan posted: "Yep the twist of Shakira being single and having to graft the boys to stay def started the divide." While a second added: "I'm no Shakira-Harry fan, but as a guy, it always came across to me that jealousy was a primary motivator in those in the villa that disliked her." 7 As the girls all sat together, Shakira and Toni chatted by the fire pit Credit: ITV2 7 Shakira said the vibe between all the girls was 'off' Credit: ITV2 7 Helena made a cutting remark about Shakira in the second episode Credit: ITV2 7 Megan Forte Clarke giggled away as Helena and Meg both gave their opinions Credit: ITV2 7 Toni seemed to pick up on the energy after Shakira made her remarks Credit: Shutterstock Editorial Love Island continues on ITV2 and is available to stream on ITVX.

Love Island in fakery row as Yas references outside world AGAIN and Dejon breaks the fourth wall
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) LOVE Island has been engulfed in yet another fakery row as Yasmin Pettet made even more references to the outside world. On last night's edition of Unseen Bits on ITV2, users were left confused by her behaviour. Sign up for the Entertainment newsletter Sign up 6 Editorial use only. No merchandising. No commercial use. Feeling tired, she decided to take a light jog around the room to wake herself up. Explaining her reasoning whilst running: "I'm just gonna do a light jog. Just a light one, nothing too strenuous. "If I sit down, my eyes are just closing. I'm shutting down. AI shut down." She added: "The robot is shutting down." The girls were all laughing at the strange scene as Megan sarcastically remarked: "She needs oil or something." As she carried on with her exercises, Yas continued: "I hope I don't get dizzy. "System update guys. YasGPT's got a system update. I'm gonna turn around now." Before getting up and leaving the room with Angel, Megan added: "The fact you're still going, I need a wee." Yas then added: "I'm just gonna keep doing it till I get bored." Viewers confused as Love Island star makes reference to fan nickname for her and ask 'how does she know?' On Instagram, one confused fan remarked: "Would love to know how she knows about AI and yas GPT. "Wait she referred to herself as YasGPT?! 4th wall broken again." This comes as fans of Love Island have also accused Dejon Noel-Williams of breaking the fourth wall. Taking to fan forum social media platform Reddit, one fan wrote: "Recently the producers have been airing a lot of clips with references to the cameras, prize money etc. This is unusual. "It's made me wonder, especially as Dejon seems to be using these references in the hope that his arguments won't be aired, how much has been cut previously? "What have we missed in the goal of suspending our disbelief and why have the producers decided to switch up?" They added: "I know they've cut out bombshells talking about the outside in previous seasons, but is there more we're missing this season?" Replying back, another loyal viewer added: "I wonder if producers have realized what dejons plan is (talking abt the cameras in hopes that the convo doesnt get aired) and have decided to show us the truth. System update guys. YasGPT's got a system update. Yasmin Pettet "OR if he talks about the cameras so much that they have no choice but to air it." The show has come under fire before for this technique as Islanders have actively referenced the prize money on screen. In previous scenes, Shakira Khan clashed with partner Conor Phillips over a comment made by co-star Harrison Solomon. Shakira told her former partner that her words had been "twisted" as she accused the guys of being 'game players' who want the monetary prize. She then shot back: "Of course they have things to gain from it. The biggest f*****g game players about. £25 f*****g k." At the time, one fan wrote "Shakira breaking the fourth wall by mentioning the prize money." As a second user stated: "This is the first time in Love Island history. I think I've actually seen the contestants talk about wanting to win the money and actually naming the prize." 6 Fans have noticed that contestants like Dejon have actively referenced the format of the show on-screen Credit: Shutterstock Editorial 6 Angel Swift accompanied the girls during the encounter Credit: Instagram / ITV2 6 Yas wanted to wake herself up by jogging as she felt tired Credit: Instagram / ITV2 Love Island continues on ITV2 and is available on ITVX.
