The key to the souring of ties between tennis player Radhika Yadav and her father, Deepak, could lie in her deleted Instagram account, said a Times of India report. As per the ongoing police investigation , 25-year-old Radhika was exploring career options beyond competitive tennis after facing multiple injuries. She identified professional coaching as a viable path and shared glimpses of her training sessions through Instagram Reels. These short videos reached tennis enthusiasts but also raised eyebrows at Wazirabad village in the city, where the family belonged to, sources told TOI.Comments from conservative relatives and acquaintances at the village about her social media activity seem to have poisoned Deepak's mind about Radhika, who he shot dead at their house in Sector 57 last Thursday, the TOI report said.'She was trying her hand as a video creator. We are yet to ascertain if Radhika deleted her account due to objections raised by villagers or by pressure from her father after frequent arguments at home. We will soon retrieve her account for the probe,' a police officer said. Radhika had appeared in a standalone music video in 2024, indicating her interest in the field, although she had not considered it as a full-time career option.Sources involved in the probe told TOI that her father saw coaching as a distraction from her tennis career , which he invested heavily in, hoping she would be the next Sania Mirza. But after she started coaching in an academy in Sector 57, and his relatives in Wazirabad took a dig at her 'influencer-like behaviour', Deepak felt insulted, according to the sources.Among comments about Radhika allegedly aimed at Deepak was her uploading social media videos with male players and students, police have learnt after questioning Deepak and others over two days since the murder took place.According to the investigation, this was the reason Deepak repeatedly urged Radhika to shut down the tennis academy she operated near their home and to quit coaching entirely. He preferred that she concentrate solely on playing the sport. However, Radhika—hampered by injuries and possibly aware that her peak playing years were past—viewed coaching as a natural extension of her career, not a departure from it. Sources told TOI, this became a major point of difference between the two, simmering over months.Radhika Yadav's uncle said that accused Deepak Yadav had confessed to him about killing his daughter and said he should be hanged. Vijay Yadav, the elder brother of Deepak Yadav, also categorically denied that Radhika Yadav had a tennis academy."Deepak's family was well off. Deepak had realised his mistake and there can be no greater punishment for someone than repentance. The whole family is in shock. Radhika also wanted to work in the advertising industry and become a model. She had composed a song and everyone in the family was happy about it," her uncle said.He said the accused loved his daughter very much and had not only spent crores of rupees on her career, but had also devoted all his time to her.Meanwhile, a close friend of Deepak Yadav claimed that the accused had told him that he had committed a sin. He said the accused was proud of his daughter but could not handle certain comments of people.A WhatsApp chat of Radhika Yadav and her coach, Ajay Yadav, has surfaced, in which the former purportedly talked about leaving the house at any cost and also discussed going abroad. This has led to the speculation of a dispute between the tennis player and her father but police have clarified that this angle is not being probed. The 25-year-old was allegedly shot dead at point-blank range by her 49-year-old father at the family's double-storey home in the Sushant Lok area in Gurugram's Sector 57 on Thursday.A city court sent the accused to judicial custody on Saturday. The court had remanded the accused in police custody for a day on Friday.Police have discovered five bullets and a live cartridge from the accused's Sector-57 residence. The accused was also taken to a village in Pataudi as part of the investigation.(With TOI inputs)

Porsche crash: Juvenile Justice Board rejects Pune police's plea to try teenage driver as adult
Pune: The Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) in the city on Tuesday rejected Pune police's application seeking the 17-year-old's trial as an adult in the Porsche Taycan car crash that claimed the lives of two techies on May 19 last year. The JJB relied on a Supreme Court ruling of Jan 9, 2020, while observing that the offence attributed to the minor in this instance cannot be considered "heinous" within the meaning of the Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection) Act, to merit his trial as an adult. Pune police commissioner Amitesh Kumar, who was pushing for the teenager's trial as an adult, told TOI: "We will take a call on filing an appeal before a sessions court after we go through the JJB's order in detail." You Can Also Check: Pune AQI | Weather in Pune | Bank Holidays in Pune | Public Holidays in Pune Investigating officer ACP (crime) Ganesh Ingale said, "We expect to get a full text of the JJB's order in due course of time." The teenager, who was released from an observation home after the Bombay high court on June 25, 2024, said that his continuation there was illegal, will face trial relating to the crash before the JJB and not before a sessions court. Two young software engineers were killed when the 17-year-old son of a prominent city builder rammed their bike from behind at Kalyaninagar junction around 2.30am on May 19, 2024, while driving the high-end car back to his bungalow at Wadgaon Sheri after late-night partying with friends at a couple of pubs in Mundhwa. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Đây có thể là thời điểm tốt nhất để giao dịch vàng trong 5 năm qua IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo The teenager's father and mother, along with eight others, including two senior Sassoon General Hospital doctors (both now suspended), are being tried in a sessions court relating to the manipulation of blood alcohol tests of the teenage driver and two minors who accompanied him in the car. The JJB's order rejecting the police plea comes more than a year after the accident that created a country-wide sensation over its decision to release the teenager on bail against conditions, including writing a 300-word essay on traffic discipline. The state and the defence lawyers concluded on June 22 their respective arguments over the police plea, and the JJB reserved its final order. Special public prosecutor Shishir Hiray told TOI: "We will consult senior officials from Pune police and the state law and judiciary department in Mumbai regarding the observations made by the JJB before we take a call on filing an appeal." Lawyer Prashant Patil, who represented the teenager, said, "We argued, among other things, that the offences attributed to the minor could not be termed 'heinous' in nature considering the SC ruling in the case of xxx (minor's name withheld) vs state of NCT of Delhi. The apex court held in that case that offences prescribing a maximum sentence of more than seven years but not providing any minimum sentence or providing a minimum sentence of less than seven years, cannot be considered to be 'heinous offence' within the meaning of section 2 (33) of the JJ Act. The JJB accepted our argument." In this case, the teenage driver was charged under sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 467 (forgery) of the Indian Penal Code. Patil argued that neither of these sections provide for a minimum sentence like the one defined by the SC, to qualify as a "heinous" offence and trial as an adult in the context of the JJ Act. Patil said, "We also brought to the JJB's notice that criminal intention and knowledge, which are key ingredients to attract culpable homicide and forgery charges, were missing in this case. The child has no prior criminal record, and the fatal crash, though unfortunate, arose out of a moment of poor judgment." On its part, the prosecution argued that the teenage driver be tried as an adult as he was driving the car under the influence of alcohol and was well aware of the consequences of serious crimes like culpable homicide.

Four minors accused of raping Class nine student in her Ghaziabad flat
Ghaziabad: Four boys, the youngest 14 and the oldest 17, have been named in an FIR for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl at her flat in a housing society in Kavi Nagar. The alleged sexual assault happened while the girl, a Class IX student at a private school, was alone at home on Sunday morning. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Sources said two of the accused are from the same school as her – one in her class, the other in class X. The two others are Class XI students who study elsewhere. The FIR mentions the name of only one of the four – one Class XI student. It was filed at Kavi Nagar police station under Section 70(2) (gang rape) of BNS and sections of around 11.30pm on Sunday night after the girl's father filed a complaint. According to the FIR, around 11.30am on Sunday morning, the girl received a call from the Class XI student named in the FIR. They knew each other and were connected on social media, though they don't study in the same school. Over the call, he informed her that he was coming to meet her – the girl's father alleged he had been insisting for two days on coming and meeting her. On Sunday morning, when he landed up, she was alone at home – the father was out for work and her mother had gone to a market. "During that time, the doorbell rang, and when she opened the door, she saw the prime accused and three other boys," according to the FIR. "These four boys forcibly took her inside a room, covered her mouth and threw her on the bed. They held her hands and feet, and each of the four boys took turns assaulting her. When the complainant's wife returned from the market, she found the flat door open and saw the four boys with her daughter. She locked them inside and raised an alarm. She also called her husband," the FIR adds. The girl's father told TOI on Tuesday that he immediately called police at 112 when his wife told him what had happened. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "When some residents of the society came to our house and were talking to my wife about the incident, the boys managed to flee," he said, accusing police of not reacting quickly enough to detain the boy at the spot. "The boys were harassing my daughter for a long time on social media platforms. Whenever she refused to talk, they threatened her," he said. Bhaskar Verma, ACP of Kavi Nagar, said a police team had been formed to investigate and CCTV footage of the society was also being examined. "We sent the girl for a medical examination. The report is awaited. Her magistrate statement will be recorded soon," he said. Sources said the main accused lives in the Wave City area. The manager of the school the girl studies in confirmed to TOI on Tuesday that she had taken admission only this year. "As far as we know, her family recently shifted to Ghaziabad. However, the girl has not attended school since she took admission. We have the records." Though the Class XI student named as accused and the girl did not study in the school together, he and her brother did. "The main accused and her brother were in our school till Class 10. Both did not continue in Class 11," the school manager said. (With inputs from Ayantika Pal)
