AADK takes strict action against staff misconduct and integrity breaches
Director-General Datuk Ruslin Jusoh stated that strict action will be taken against those found guilty, in line with existing laws and service conduct regulations.
The warning follows investigations by the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) into two separate cases.
The first involved an incident at the Narcotics Addiction Rehabilitation Centre (PUSPEN) in Pahang, where a client was reportedly beaten and injured during rehabilitation last year.
The second case involved AADK officers in Selangor who failed to follow up on an individual who tested positive for drugs at a public hospital.
Ruslin emphasized that AADK remains committed to upholding integrity and good governance.
'Strict action will be taken against the officers found guilty, in accordance with the provisions of the law and the service code of conduct in force,' he said in a statement.
He also reminded all AADK personnel to adhere strictly to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), guidelines, and the Director-General's Standing Orders.
The agency will continue collaborating closely with the EAIC to strengthen governance and address complaints regarding staff misconduct. - Bernama

Theft by addicts main factor in index crime spike
ALOR STAR: Theft by drug addicts has become the leading cause of rising index crime rates in Kedah, said police chief Commissioner Adzli Abu Shah. From Jan 1 to yesterday, Kedah recorded 2,852 index crime cases, with 47 per cent involving theft linked to drug addicts, he said. "Kedah police will maintain the focus outlined by former police chief Datuk Fisol Salleh, which is to eradicate drug-related crime. "We believe that if drug issues can be tackled and eliminated as much as possible, the overall index crime rate in Kedah can be brought down," he said. Adzli was responding to Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail's recent comments in conjunction with the 2025 National Anti-Drug Day celebration held in Jitra last Friday, urging the Kedah government to step up efforts to remove the state from the top four nationwide for drug addiction rates. On a separate note, he said Kedah police are stepping up border security measures despite the ongoing Thailand-Cambodia conflict occurring far from the state's northern border. "Precautionary steps are being taken by strengthening security at Malaysia's border checkpoints," he said, adding that despite growing support from agencies such as the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency, constant vigilance remains essential. "We must not let our guard down. We are committed to ensuring the country's borders remain secure," he said. Earlier, Adzli attended the rank insignia presentation ceremony for the Kedah police chief and deputy police chief, along with the handover ceremony for the deputy chief post, witnessed by Special Branch director CP Datuk Ibrahim Darus at the police contingent headquarters. Adzli, who was the acting police chief, was officially appointed to the role and promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police (CP). French prosecutors seek new arrest warrant for Syria's Assad
PARIS: French prosecutors announced on Monday they have requested a new arrest warrant for Syria's former president Bashar al-Assad in connection with a deadly 2013 chemical attack, following the cancellation of a previous warrant. The decision now rests with investigating magistrates on whether to issue the new warrant. French authorities have been investigating a suspected sarin gas attack by the Syrian government since 2021. US intelligence reports indicate the attack killed over 1,000 people in Adra and Douma, near Damascus, on August 4–5, 2013. France's highest court, the Court of Cassation, ruled last Friday that presidential immunity applies even in cases of alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity, leading to the annulment of a 2023 arrest warrant against Assad. However, the court noted that since Assad was ousted in December, new warrants could be pursued. The National Anti-Terror Prosecutor's Office (PNAT) stated they requested 'the issuing and international dissemination of an arrest warrant against Bashar al-Assad for alleged complicity in crimes against humanity and complicity in war crimes' related to the chemical attack. Assad and his family reportedly fled to Russia after Islamist-led forces took control in Syria on December 8. Theft by drug addicts drives Kedah crime spike, says police chief
ALOR SETAR: Theft committed by drug addicts has emerged as the primary factor behind the surge in index crime cases in Kedah, according to state police chief CP Adzli Abu Shah. From January 1 to July 27, Kedah recorded 2,852 index crime cases, with nearly half linked to theft by drug users. 'Kedah police will maintain the focus outlined by former police chief Datuk Fisol Salleh, which is to eradicate drug-related crime,' Adzli said. He stressed that addressing drug addiction could significantly reduce crime rates. 'We believe that if drug issues can be tackled and eliminated as much as possible, the overall index crime rate in Kedah can be brought down,' he added. Adzli's remarks followed Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail's call for Kedah to intensify efforts against drug abuse. The minister had urged the state to exit the top four rankings for drug addiction during the 2025 National Anti-Drug Day celebration in Jitra last Friday.
